  • Patent number: 11964137
Abstract: A device for aseptic delivery of biological material from a vial includes a tubular barrel, a filter assembly, and a dispersion assembly. The dispersion assembly is at least partially disposed within the tubular barrel. The dispersion assembly includes a dispersion element, a piston, and a one-way valve. The dispersion element is in fluid communication with the vial to disperse the biological material from the vial. The piston is disposed at the distal end of the dispersion assembly and is in sealing contact with the tubular barrel. The one-way valve forms a fluid passageway in fluid communication with the dispersion element and the tubular barrel. The one-way valve is configured to allow a flow of the dispersed biological material from the dispersion element, through the fluid passageway, and into the tubular barrel, and to prevent a flow of the dispersed biological material from the tubular barrel into the dispersion assembly.

It is then possible to simultaneously inject drugs, or other fluid vaccines that do not mix well or whose mixture would be detrimental to the stability or efficacy of the active ingredients therein. The present invention provides a novel injection needle support for connecting the injection needles to dose distributors and fluid supply containers while maintaining the injection ends of the injection needles in a substantially parallel arrangement. The injection needle support typically is attached to a carrier connected to an actuator, an actuator power source and a switch mechanism wherein the actuator, when activated, can reciprocally move the carrier and injection support toward and away from an injection position.

Abstract: An inoculation device and method are provided. The device includes a hypodermic syringe with a hollow needle that is positioned to inject a small animal in its abdominal area with an inoculant. A work platform supports the animal during inoculation in a back down, face up orientation. Air flow sensing activation mechanism is positioned adjacent a portion of the animal. When the animal is moved into contact with the activation mechanism, drive connected to the hypodermic syringe moves the needle forward to penetrate the animal after which the inoculant is injected.

  • Patent number: 5972001
Abstract: A method of ligating anatomical tissue using a suture spring device of coiled configuration includes expanding the suture spring device from a relaxed, unexpanded state to an elastically deformed, expanded state, positioning the anatomical tissue in an axial space between rings or coils of the suture spring device when the device is in the elastically deformed, expanded state, and allowing the suture spring device to contract from the expanded state toward the unexpanded state to ligate the anatomical tissue. The rings or coils of the suture spring device can be axially and/or radially expanded in the elastically deformed, expanded state. In the case of the rings being radially expanded, the anatomical tissue is preferably repositioned to be disposed concentrically within a central longitudinal passage or aperture of the suture spring device so that the rings are coiled around the anatomical tissue in the expanded state and able to apply a radially compressive force when contracted.

  • Patent number: 5496303
Abstract: Transfusion and perfusion device having two pressure bags communicating via a calibrated pressure-reducing valve, each pressure bag including an inflatable pressure balloon. Each balloon is held in an envelope and has the same shape as its envelope. An inflating device provides for the inflation of the pressure balloon, and a verticalization device ensures verticality of the drip. Both envelopes which hold the two balloons are flexible and are each provided with a sleeve intended to receive a flexible pouch of the perfusion product in such a way that the pressure balloon contained in its envelope may be inflated to a high pressure and therefore may act as a pressing balloon in order to provide the flow rate necessary for life support. The invention is applicable to the medical and veterinary fields.

  • Patent number: 5453044
Abstract: Charges of solid coolant granules are automatically inserted into a fresh animal carcass or a portion of an animal carcass by the use of an inserting tool. The granular solid coolant charge is contained within a chamber of the tool which also includes a flat spear blade. When the blade forms a slit in a selected muscle area, the granular solid coolant charge is positively, rapidly and consistently positioned within the pocket that had just been opened by the spear blade. The insertion tool and process are especially well-adapted for use in reducing the development of pale, soft and exudative meat, while accomplishing this in a manner that is rapid and minimizes variations from carcass to carcass.

Abstract: A method for the delivery of medicaments to newly hatched poultry. A vaccine or other medicament is injected into the yolk sac of a newly hatched chick, and is released to the chick's system as the yolk is absorbed by the chick. An injection device is shown having one or optionally a pair of guide services for guiding a chick axially of a hypodermic needle during an injection procedure to reduce damage to the injection site.

  • Patent number: 5312353
Abstract: A modular poultry automatic injection and spraying apparatus (10) featuring a dual-sensor switch means (41) and a dual-action, fluid-actuated drive means (101) is disclosed. The apparatus has a casing construction (11) including an upper housing (12) mounted on a lower housing (13) such that the lower housing (13), which contains water-sensitive pneumatic logic circuitry (261), can be easily removed prior to cleaning. The casing construction (11) has the additional advantage of allowing substitute upper and lower housings (12, 13) to be interchanged during maintenance and repair. The dual sensor switch means (41) ensures that the injections are performed accurately and consistently. The dual-action, fluid-actuated drive means (101) allows for the simultaneous injection and spraying functions of the apparatus (10) obviating the need for an additional apparatus or separate compressed air signal.
