Peritoneal Dialysis Patents (Class 604/29)
  • Patent number: 10335246
Abstract: A disposable kit for a medical apparatus includes a tray and a subassembly with sections foldably connected to each other. At least one of the sections can fold itself onto the tray so that the subassembly encloses a region of the tray. When the tray is laid on the subassembly in a predetermined position, elevated channel regions formed on a front side of the tray and facing the subassembly can accommodate component installations of the subassembly, and a section of the subassembly can be folded to the rear side of the tray so that component installations on that section can be accommodated in elevated channel regions formed on the rear side of the tray. In this manner, the subassembly forms a hard-shell that at least partially surrounds the tray and protects pre-installed or packed pressure-sensitive components, parts and or regions of the disposable kit.

  • Patent number: 10238784
Abstract: The invention relates to a system of performing an evidence Dialysis modality of Batch, Tidal or a combination of both. The system: isolates cavity volume changes due only to ultrafiltrate; determines the volume of a patient cavity; determines a full cavity; determines an objective time to initiate an exchange; and determines an empty cavity. One or more combination of these features provide for evidence base Fill, Dwell, and Drain sequences. The system comprises: a cassette having a heated region and a sensor region for measurements. A valve manifold supplies a patient connection with fluid. A microprocessor receives pressure measurements, controls the heated region and activates a volumetric pump to deliver or extract discrete increments of the fluid to the cassette from bags. Filtering pressure measurements to remove rapid fluctuations determines an accumulated pressure in the patient cavity. The volume of fluid in the patient cavity correlates to the accumulated pressure.

  • Patent number: 9069886
Abstract: A home medical apparatus can give explanations corresponding to the levels of proficiency in operation when explaining to a patient about operation procedures. A home medical apparatus according to this invention includes a selection unit which selects an explanation mode corresponding to the level of proficiency in operation, a storage unit which stores a plurality of display windows classified to the respective explanation modes upon associating them with each other between adjacent levels, and a display control unit which displays the display windows classified to the selected explanation mode in a predetermined order. When a detailed explanation button is pressed, the display control unit makes transition to a display window classified to an explanation mode one level lower than the current explanation mode.

  • Patent number: 9028439
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the preparation of a treatment machine for the treatment of a medical liquid comprising a coupling surface with actuators, with a cassette comprising a hard part with liquid-conducting passages which are covered by a flexible film being able to be coupled to the coupling surface of the treatment machine so that the actuators can control the liquid flow in the liquid-conducting passages by pressing the flexible film down into the cassette. In this connection, a switch is made after the setting up of the treatment machine and before the start of treatment into a stand-by mode in which the actuators are alternately moved to relieve the flexible film. It is possible for the first time by the stand-by mode before the start of treatment in accordance with the invention to completely uncouple the time-consuming setting up of the treatment machine from the treatment itself in a time aspect.

Abstract: An occluder, and methods for occlusion, that employs first and second opposed occluding members associated with each other, a tube contacting member connected to, or comprising at least a portion of, at least one of the first and second occluding members, and a force actuator constructed and positioned to apply a force to at least one of the first and second occluding members. Application of the force by the force actuator may cause the tube contacting member to move between a tube occluding and an open position. A release member may be configured and positioned to enable an operator to manually move the tube contacting member from the tube occluding position to the open position even with no force applied to the at least one of the first and second occluding members by the force actuator.

  • Patent number: 9022969
Abstract: A medical infusion fluid handling system, such as an automated peritoneal dialysis system, may be arranged to de-cap and connect one or more lines (such as solution lines) with one or more spikes or other connection ports on a fluid handling cassette. This feature may reduce a likelihood of contamination since no human interaction is required to de-cap and connect the one or more lines and the one or more spikes. For example, the automated peritoneal dialysis system may include a carriage arranged to receive the one or more lines each having a connector end and a cap. The carriage may move along a first direction so as to move the connector ends of the one or more lines along the first direction, and a cap stripper may be arranged to engage with the caps on the one or more lines on the carriage. The cap stripper may move in a second direction transverse to the first direction, as well as to move with the carriage along the first direction.

  • Patent number: 9011369
Abstract: A catheter for use in continuous flow peritoneal dialysis comprising an inflow tube and an outflow tube, wherein both are connected on one end to a dialysis machine. The inflow tube is divided into a plurality of smaller inflow auxiliary tubes, and the outflow tube is divided into a plurality of smaller outflow auxiliary tubes. The auxiliary tubes each contain a plurality of apertures for the rapid and efficient movement of dialysis solution in and out of the peritoneal cavity. The auxiliary tubes are covered by a sheath prior to implantation, which is then removed, thereby deploying, preferably into an open-basket shape, the auxiliary tubes within the peritoneal cavity which separate to allow for the continuous flow of dialysis solution. This reduces the time required to complete the procedure and increases its efficiency by reaching a larger surface area of the peritoneal cavity, all without kinking or blocking.
