Abstract: An absorbent article comprising a central absorbent member and a lateral wicking barrier for inhibition of wicking from the central regions of the article to an outlying outer absorbent member. The wicking barrier has a vertical component for prevention of radial wicking in the plane of the article and thus promotes center filling of the article with fluid and reduces the likelihood of leaks from the sides of the article. The wicking barrier can also have a horizontal component to prevent leakage, redirect fluid flow, and improve fit and performance of the article. In one embodiment, the central absorbent member is a concentric absorbent structure having alternating rings of barrier material and absorbent material, including a spiral wound composite formed from a layer of barrier material wound with a layer of absorbent material and then sliced.

The isolating layer, the top layer and the bottom layer have multiple ventilating holes corresponding to the hollow portion. Irregular absorbent material with voids is disposed between two adjacent isolating layers to allow air convection to disperse heat, so that the menstrual blood is quickly drained and absorbed by the absorbent layer to keep the sanitary napkin dry at the top layer and to avoid toxic vapors that might enter the vagina or the uterus and thus incur pathological changes. The toxic vapors are caused by chemical qualitative change if menstrual blood with high heat is retained on the top layer. Therefore, the sanitary napkin is safe and comfortable in use.

  • Patent number: 7247152
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article is disclosed that is partially defined by a pair of longitudinally extending side edges and a pair of end edges extending between the side edges, and includes a topsheet layer, a backsheet layer, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. The disposable absorbent article also has a pair of side wall structures each having a pair of oppositely positioned end portions. A first side wall structure extends generally longitudinally between the core and one of the side edges and the other side wall structure extends generally longitudinal between the core and the other side edge. Further, an end strip constructed from an elastic material is positioned substantially adjacent each one of the end edges, and extends laterally between the side edges.

Abstract: The present invention provides an absorbent layer prepared from an absorbent nonwoven web having a first plurality of slits with a first orientation and a second plurality of slits with a second orientation, wherein the first orientation is different from the second orientation. The first plurality of slits and the second plurality of slits are at least partially through the absorbent nonwoven web, and the second plurality of slits at least partially intersects the first plurality of slits in a manner such that where the first and second plurality of slits intersect the first and second plurality of slits combine to form apertures in the absorbent nonwoven web. The present invention also provides an absorbent article having a liquid-permeable top layer, a liquid-impermeable backing layer, and the absorbent layer of the present invention positioned between the top layer and the backing layer. Also disclosed is a method of preparing the absorbent layer.

  • Publication number: 20070106240
Abstract: A disposable diaper improved so that the wearer's skin can be reliably protected from being soiled with feces. A chassis constituting the diaper includes a spacer sheet attached to an inner sheet of the chassis. The spacer sheet has a front end zone and a rear end zone fixed to the inner sheet and an intermediate zone left free from the inner sheet. The intermediate zone is formed with an opening shaped so as to describe a circular arc which is convex forward. Along the opposite side edges of the opening, the spacer sheet is provided with elastic members extending in the length direction of the diaper and attached thereto in a stretched state in the direction. These elastic members extend forward with respect to the diaper along the peripheral edge of the opening so as to get close to a center line bisecting a width of the diaper.
