Abstract: A permanently closed containment pant includes an elastically extensible chassis and a sling positioned within the chassis. The sling is joined to the front waist region and the back waist region. The sling includes a fluid-impervious base sheet and a containment flap joined with the base sheet to create a fluid-impervious pouch. The sling also includes a first transition and a second transition that are elastically extensible in a longitudinal direction and in a transverse direction. Material properties of the pouch and chassis provide the proper fit for comfort and leakage protection.

Abstract: The present invention provides protective underwear including shorts and removable absorbent inserts that can be pulled away from and attached to the shorts while the shorts are pulled down but not completely removed. This allows a soiled insert to be removed, and a clean replacement insert to be installed, without having to remove the person's pants and shoes. The assembled protective underwear also looks like normal underwear from the outside and is sufficiently less bulky than a traditional adult diaper allowing it to be effectively concealed when worn under most clothing. This improvement in discreetness and convenience can make a major difference to the user, such as child or adult hoping to reduce potential embarrassment while maintain maximum levels of activity.

The end of the insert associated with the region bearing the fastener component may have a specified stiffness, to help the insert to retain structural integrity while fastened within an outer cover and while being worn. Abstract: A two-piece diaper system having a re-usable shell and a removable and replaceable absorbent pad is provided. The re-usable diapering system consists of a non-absorbent outer liquid impervious shell, as in a standard disposable diaper but without an integral central absorbent layer which is exposed to liquids in the crotch area. A separate disposable absorbent pad is provided in the central crotch area of the disposable diaper which is not sandwiched in the shell. The central area of the shell is stiffened to facilitate manufacture and handling by the user.

A plurality of fastenable tabs attached to hole-openings at the barrier panels affixes the liner portion or the detachable absorption portion in place. The hole-openings allow the passage of the fastenable tabs through the barrier panels. Both the liner portion and the detachable absorption portion include fastener members inter-engaged with the corresponding fastener members located at the fastenable tabs to allow the liner portion or the detachable absorption portion to be removably affixed to the outer cover portion. Numerous options for affixing the insert portion and the detachable absorption portion allow conversion to different diaper designs.

The preferred embodiment of said diaper is comprised of two main components including an approximately hourglass shaped two layer outer containing element, and a contoured absorbent soaker pad with a plurality of fabric layers sewn together. The outer fabric of the containing element is laminated on its interior surface to provide dryness protection. A unique longitudinal central interior opening provides a means for keeping said soaker pad in place during wear, containing solid waste, and allowing for ease of washing and use.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a planar pad manufactured from three bonded layers each having different properties and materials. This includes a contact layer having a first and corresponding second portion. The second portion overlaps the first portion sufficient to create a first overlay. Such contact layer may be made of fibers which include silver nano-particulates. The contact layer may also include a coating made of TEFLON or similar material. The second layer is an absorbency layer positioned immediately below the contact layer. The absorbency layer being made of natural woven bamboo fiber. In addition, the absorbency layer may be two-part construction having a first absorbent portion and a corresponding second absorbent portion which abuts the first absorbent portion, wherein both absorbent portions have fused sides to reduce fraying. The sling can also be attached to and detached from the garment by using hook and loop fasteners that can be partially covered so that abrasive corners are not exposed. The same overlying layers can be used on tabs for securing the protective undergarment around the waist.

The bottom absorbent component has higher flexural rigidity than the upper absorbent component, and the compression recovery rate of the bottom absorbent component is also set so as to be higher than that of the upper absorbent component. The pocket is narrower than the outer to isolate fluids from edges of the outer layer and from diaper leg openings. Both the fluid isolation layer and the outer layer may be fluid resistant to provide additional protection against leakage. Adjustment fasteners on the outside of the outer shell permit size adjustment for the diaper and the adjustment fasteners are positioned within the periphery of the pocket so that presence of the absorbent pad will enhance comfort.

The absorbent body has a non-joined section that is not joined to the absorbent-article main body, between the joined section on a side close to the other end section and the outer edge of the absorbent-article main body.
