The devices utilize the natural drainage process of the eye and can be implanted with minimal trauma to the eye. Kits include a support and an introducer for implanting the support within Schlemm's canal. Methods include implanting a support within Schlemm's canal, wherein the support is capable of maintaining the patency of the canal without substantial interference with transmural fluid flow across the canal.

Abstract: This patent document discloses assemblies and methods for removing obstructive material from a body vessel or other cavity. An assembly can include an elongate inner member, an elongate outer member, an aspirator, one or more valves, and a waste collection reservoir. Each of the elongate members can extend from a proximal end portion to a distal end portion and can include a lumen therethrough. The elongate inner member can be partially disposed in the lumen of the elongate outer member and can be moveable along its longitudinal axis relative to the elongate outer member. The aspirator can be in flow communication with the proximal end portion of the elongate inner member for drawing the obstructive material into or through its lumen. The one or more valves can be configured and positioned to allow obstructive material removed from the body vessel or cavity to be urged toward the waste collection reservoir.

Abstract: An IOP monitoring device for implantation in an eye of a patient may include a first tube having a first opening, the first tube being configured to extend into an anterior chamber of the eye and extend to a first sensor outside the anterior chamber. The first sensor may be in fluid communication with the first opening of the first tube. The device also may include a second tube having an opening spaced from a second sensor. The opening of the second tube may be configured to be exposed to a pressure representative of atmospheric pressure, with the second sensor being in fluid communication with the second opening. In one aspect, a patch is attachable to a globe of the eye and configured to lie over the opening of the second tube and secure the opening in place in the eye.

  • Patent number: 9333115
Abstract: A drainage device for implantation in an eye of a patient to treat an ocular condition is disclosed. The drainage device includes a housing, a multi-compartment flow control chamber, and a membrane. The housing includes an entrance port and an exit port connected by a fluid flow passageway. The membrane is disposed between the fluid flow passageway and the multi-compartment flow control chamber, which includes a first compartment and a second compartment in fluid communication with each other. The first and second compartments are structurally arranged to limit contact of gas with the membrane, which is disposed between the fluid flow passageway and first compartment. The membrane is configured to affect flow through the fluid flow passageway by deflecting in response to pressure in the flow control chamber.

  • Patent number: 9320733
Abstract: The disclosure relates to the discovery that certain cerebrovascular disorders in humans who exhibit seemingly normal intracranial pressure (ICP) and do not exhibit hydrocephalus can be alleviated or prevented by reducing ICP in the human. Disorders of this type are herein designated normotensive, nonhydrocephalus tenso-responsive cerebrovascular disorder (NNTCDs). The disclosure describes methods of relieving head pain and other symptoms of NNTCDs, for example by withdrawing cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from the subarachnoid space of a human or by administering a pharmaceutical agent that modulates CSF production, uptake, or both. Methods of assessing whether a human is afflicted with one or more NNTCDs are also described. The disclosure describes numerous pharmaceutical compositions suitable for administration to humans afflicted with NNTCDs to alleviate or prevent such disorders. Such compositions can, for example, include both a CSF-reducing agent and a symptomatic (e.g., head pain) relief agent.
