  • Patent number: 7530234
Abstract: A method for the air conditioning of a vehicle interior as a function of incident solar radiation. In a vehicle with, for example, a four-zone air conditioning system, the incident solar radiation is detected by means of sensor elements assigned to the various air conditioning zones in the vehicle and is used for regulating the air conditioning capacity. In order to avoid faulty regulation due to a detected incident solar radiation which does not influence or only slightly influences the passengers because of perpendicular incident radiation, for example, on the roof, the hood and the trunk lid, the incident radiation direction is determined by means of the sensor elements and the regulation of the air conditioning capacity is adapted correspondingly, so that the situation of too intensive cooling, for example in the case of perpendicular radiation on the vehicle roof, is avoided.

  • Patent number: 7520444
Abstract: A fan controller reduces the percentage of time that fans used in a heat exchanger of an outdoor cabinet that houses electronics and power source must operate to provide required cooling to the electronics and power source. The fan controller can also reverse operation of a fan of the heat controller to help reduce clogging of air intakes as well as to clean the interior of the cabinet. In an embodiment, the controller operates the fans in the heat exchanger according to operating temperature ranges. Thermostats can be used to provide the operating temperature ranges. Depending on the state of the thermostats and the ambient temperature, the fan controller causes one fan to operate in the reverse direction while the other fan is idle, causes one fan to operate in the forward direction while the other fan is idle, or causes both fans to operate in the forward direction.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for efficiently using various components in combination as a system for cooling and cleaning air. The apparatus uses the combination of an evaporative cooler with a water reservoir and a refrigerated air system with a water-cooled condenser. A pump or series of pumps are used to supply water to the evaporative cooler and to the water-cooled condenser from the water reservoir. A mechanism for controlling the hardness of supplied water may also be included. After the reservoir water has been supplied to the other components in the system, it is returned to the water reservoir. During less humid Summer conditions, the output air from the evaporative cooler is supplied to a series of ducts and is used to cool the interior of a structure such as a home.

  • Patent number: 6397610
Abstract: An air conditioner/heater automatically operates in either air conditioning or heating mode by coil temperatures of indoor and outdoor heat exchangers. In air conditioning mode, the rotating speed of indoor fan motor is proportional to the ambient temperature of corresponding enclosed space, and the rotating speed of outdoor fan motor is proportional to the coil temperature of corresponding outdoor heat exchanger. In heating mode, the rotating speed of indoor fan motor is proportional to the coil temperature of corresponding indoor heat exchanger, and the rotating speed of outdoor fan motor is inversely proportional to the coil temperature of corresponding outdoor heat exchanger. With this automatic switching of operation mode, the capability of heat dissipation of condenser is always larger than the capability of heat absorption of evaporator. Hence, the operation of the air conditioner/heater is maintained at an optimum.
