Patent number: 7426839Abstract: An apparatus and method for cooling a beverage, through the special design of a container for dispensing a beverage, is disclosed. The beverage remains cold for a period of time while it is inside the container, through contact with a frozen substance consumable substance with a lower temperature than the beverage. The frozen substance is substantially frozen before the beverage is introduced into the container. The beverage and the frozen substance make contact through portions of a barrier structure containing the frozen substance. As the frozen substance melts, it gradually mixes with the beverage, continuing to cool the beverage over a period of time, without ice floating to the top of the container.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2005Date of Patent: September 23, 2008Inventor: Robert M. Publication number: 20080209939Abstract: The invention provides a drinking vessel into which dry ice can be placed in order to produce fog above the beverage. In order to prevent the pieces of dry ice from being swallowed, a second bottom is inserted into the drinking vessel after the dry ice was placed therein. The second bottom features holes that are permeable to the beverage, but not permeable to the pieces of dry ice. Consequently, the beverage comes in contact with the dry ice such that fog is created while the dry ice is simultaneously prevented from rising to the surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 27, 2006Publication date: September 4, 2008Inventor: Stephan Schmitz

Patent number: 7028505Abstract: A beverage chiller device for a serving pitcher has a lower stainless steel cylinder and an upper food-grade plastic sleeve. The upper end of the device is open to receive ice. A flexible strap attached onto the upper sleeve has a free end that can pass through a handle of the serving pitcher, with the lower end of the device immersed in the beverage and situated at a base of said pitcher. The flexible strap forms a closed loop that secures the chiller device to the serving pitcher. The flexible strap also permits the chiller device to pivot when the pitcher is tipped for pouring, so that the device remains more or less erect, and so meltwater does not pour out of the chiller device when the customer is pouring a drink from the pitcher. The flexible strap allows the stainless steel cylinder to drop down to the base of the pitcher, so the cylinder remains immersed in the beverage at the bottom of the pitcher.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2004Date of Patent: April 18, 2006Inventor: Anthony J. A phase change material occupies the chamber and regeneratively absorbs thermal energy from the liquid to cool the liquid and then releases the thermal energy back to the liquid to maintain the temperature of the liquid.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 21, 2003Publication date: May 6, 2004Inventor: J. Publication number: 20040035144Abstract: A drinking vessel includes an interior portion that holds pellets or chips of dry ice that cool a beverage in the glass while the beverage is being consumed. The interior portion can be a part of the glass or it can be a detached piece usable in different vessels. Either way the interior portion includes holes that allow the beverage to freely flow around the dry ice while the holes are small enough to prevent the dry ice from entering the portion of the vessel where it could be accidentally consumed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 21, 2003Publication date: February 26, 2004Inventor: Peter Nielsen

Publication number: 20030196448Abstract: A system for use with a consumable beverage includes a container having a mouth. A lid is detachably engaged with the container. A collar is adapted to be seated in the mouth of the container. The collar defines an opening therein. A thermal energy storing member is detachably engagable with the opening in the collar and/or the lid. A collar for supporting an end of a thermal energy storing member; a lid for a container adapted to engage a thermal energy storing member; and method of providing a chilled consumable beverage are each separately detailed herein.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2003Publication date: October 23, 2003Inventors: Hank Roth, Donna Roth

Patent number: 6629430Abstract: A cooler comprising a container having a container bottom wall and upstanding side walls standing upwardly from a periphery of the bottom wall and defining an open top and a cover wall hingedly connected to one of the side walls and attachable to at least one other of the side walls so as to close the open top. Each of the side walls and the cover wall being formed of a flexible fabric material with a layer of insulating material thereon such that the side walls can be folded to allow collapse of the container from an expanded position for receiving articles to be maintained cooled to a collapsed storage condition. A bottle for receiving liquid has two opposed side walls and a peripheral wall with one side wall shaped to substantially match the shape of the bottom wall such that the bottle is arranged to be located at the bottom of the container with the side wall lying against the bottom wall to provide stiffening for the bottom wall and the other side wall facing into the interior of the container.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2001Date of Patent: October 7, 2003Assignee: Reliance Products Limited PartnershipInventors: David Mills, Claude Cormier, Glenn J.
