  • Patent number: 10575604
Abstract: A transformable structure reconfigurable between in-line and simulative configurations. Head beading, an anterior engaging bead, anterior appendage beading, a central bead, posterior appendage beading, a posterior engaging bead, and terminal beading are connected in series. The central bead has anterior and posterior cavities, and receivable portions of the engaging beads are respectively received in the cavities when the structure is in the simulative configuration. An elastic core passes through the beading, and the transformable structure can be reconfigured between in-line and simulative configurations by a relative twisting and untwisting of the components. The anterior and posterior engaging beads can be spherical, and the anterior and posterior cavities can be hemispherical.

Abstract: An article of jewelry for wearing on the body may comprise a sintered polycrystalline diamond compact with substantially no metal catalyst. As many of the metal catalysts commonly used in the art are known to cause skin irritation, such a sintered compact with substantially no metal catalyst may be more biocompatible than previously known. A method for forming such a biocompatible sintered polycrystalline diamond compact comprises mixing diamond powder and metal catalyst powder into a mixture and sintering the mixture under elevated temperature and pressure conditions to form a sintered compact. The sintered compact may then be leached in an acid or other solution to substantially remove the metal catalyst from the sintered compact.

  • Patent number: 8595907
Abstract: The necklace clasp fastener for a string of beads consists of a male bead member, and a female bead member, that do not have any visible loop or eyelets for assembling and holding a string of beads together when the male and female bead members are snapped together. The resulting bead configured clasp is almost undetectable from the outside of the beaded necklace which creates an unbroken, unified string of beads for a much more aesthetic and beautiful piece of jewelry. The improved clasp of the invention provides a safety feature to guard against breakage. The two parts are designed to snap together with enough force to hold the necklace on the wearer under normal wear and use. If, however, the necklace catches on to something, the clasp will release easily from the wearer instead of breaking the necklace, and releasing the beads all over the place.

  • Patent number: 8156759
Abstract: The present invention particularly relates to a novel type of hinge to be used for sequentially interconnecting different elemental jewelry units of a jewelry item. Type of hinge constructions used in jewelry making of prior art do not permit the jewelry item to retain during use its appropriate shape which is required for bringing out beauty value of the jewelry item like the diamond-studded necklace. The necklace may present itself as an ordinary metal chain, which, as if, “falls down loose”, giving a U-shape or any other unplanned shape. Hinge-construction of prior art does not restrict movement of different elemental jewelry units in different unplanned directions. The difficulty becomes more pronounced when very small size diamonds are used in the necklace. The novel type of hinge of the present invention provides two mating pairs for each elemental jewelry units permit each unit to have predetermined appropriate amounts of clockwise and anticlockwise rotational motions.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to jewellery making and particularly relates to intertwined-braidlike jewellery and novel method of making the same. When completed jewellery item is made by assembling many very small elemental jewellery units, the work of formation of interconnections of assembled small units poses many difficulties for the artisans which add to the cost and time-duration of assembly work. This assembled completed jewellery item also presents a flat two dimensional appearance which reduces both attractiveness and hence value of jewellery item. The present invention provides a novel shape of small elemental jewellery units, such that the work of interconnecting them avoids the need of wire-bending and soldering during interconnection-work, used by earlier jewellery making methods. This novel method of assembly of very small elemental jewellery units gives additional advantage of presenting a three dimensional appearance, thereby increasing attractiveness and value of jewellery item.

Abstract: A bead having a cylindrical opening for passage of a strand and a crest mounted on the strand. The opening comprises central cavity having a first diameter, and first and second ends each having a second diameter smaller than the first diameter of the central cavity. The first and second ends further comprises a notch disposed at a selected position along the circumference of the opening, wherein the notch at the first end is not radially aligned along the longitudinal bead axis with the notch at the second end. The diameter of the opening is sufficient along its entire length to permit an unadorned strand to pass through and be rotated freely. The crest is of a size and shape selected to pass through either end of the opening by aligning the crest with the corresponding notch at that end, but is too large to pass through either of the ends of the opening when not aligned with a corresponding notch.

  • Patent number: 7556760
Abstract: In the method, an upper mould is fixed on an upper portion of a base body, and a lower mould is provided. When the primary molding is performed, the lower mould moves up at a different speed. The beads are drilled during the primary molding. After the primary molding, the lower mould moves down slightly. Gases generated while a material for the beads is cured are discharged, and the lower mould moves up to secondarily mold the beads. The lower mould is positioned on a pin plate fixed to a piston shaft of a cylinder. Semi-circular recesses of the lower mould are provided with pin holes. While pins fitted into the pin plate enters into and exits from the pin holes, the beads are drilled. The pin plate moves down by descent of the lifting plate, and thus the pins escape from the molded beads.

According to a presently preferred embodiment, jewelry is made primarily from a cornstarch based resin. The resin is used to form beads which are strung together to form a bracelet, a necklace or an earring. According to some embodiments, a charm bearing an environmental message is attached to the string of beads. The charm may be made from biodegradable material or from recycled metal such as recycled brass. The jewelry is preferably packaged in a clear envelope which is also made from cornstarch based resin. A hang tag is attached to the envelope with organic hemp string. The hang tag is made from unbleached post-consumer waste recycled paper and is printed with a soy based ink.

Abstract: A bracelet is made from a clasp and multiple linking pieces (that may be a charm, link or watch) and each of the linking pieces has a male end with a lip and a notch on its bottom side and a bar held in a female end to create a defined opening. Two linking pieces of the bracelet are interlinked to one another by inserting the notch of a first piece in the defined opening of a second piece when an insertion angle formed between the bottom sides of the two pieces is less than ninety degrees and then increasing the insertion angle to greater than ninety degrees so that the bar of the second piece is retained within the notch of the first piece and cannot be removed unless the insertion angle is decreased to less than ninety degrees. The clasp can be a one-piece clasp or a two-piece clasp, both of which will link to a female link end of a first link and a male end of a second link.
