    Abstract: A double-cylinder circular machine for producing tubular knitted manufactures, particularly for making hosiery items or the like, which comprises a supporting structure which is provided with a footing for resting on the ground which supports, so that it can rotate about its own vertically-oriented axis, a lower needle cylinder. The supporting structure comprises at least one column which is extended substantially vertically, protrudes upward from the footing and supports, so that it can rotate about its own axis, an upper needle cylinder, the upper needle cylinder is supported, so that it can rotate about its own axis, by an arm, which in turn is supported by the column, elements being provided for the rotation of the arm about the axis of the main shaft with respect to the column to provide the transition of the upper needle cylinder from an active position to an inactive position.

    Abstract: A knitting method for knitting, by a double knit electric jacquard circular knitting machine with needle selection on dial and cylinder, a knitted fabric in which a pattern on a front face of the knitted fabric is knitted by using one of a cylinder and a dial, boundaries between motifs of the pattern in a wale direction being continuous at the same position in the wale direction in a plurality of successive courses, and a pattern on a back face of the knitted fabric is knitted by using the other of the cylinder and the dial. The knitted fabric is knitted such that knit structures adjacent, on the back face of the knitted fabric, to a border line in the wale direction that is formed by the boundary between the motifs on the front face of the knitted fabric in at least one course of the number of successive courses that is fewer by one than the number of types of jacquard knitting yarns used are successively knitted.

Furthermore, it is provided that the temporarily inactive needles are set to work at the end of the knitting of said at least one part (5 A, 5B) of the body (1) with reciprocating motion, thus forming an interknitting line (CC) for joining the two leg pieces (9A, 9B), then continuing the knitting with continuous rotary motion with all the needles (15) of both the cylinders (11, 13).

    Abstract: A knitting machine is provided for producing tubular articles based on two fixed bars of needles wherein rows are formed partly by the needles of one bar and partly by the needles of the other bar. A thread is provided which is displaced alternately in both directions along the bars. Cam rings are provided rotating in continuous motion and in opposite directions. Each of the cam rings including cams acting on one of the needle bars for providing trajectories of the needles of one of the two bars forming a limited angle, generally than 30.degree., relative to the trajectories of the corresponding needles of the other bar. The needles of the two bars are arranged offset and are controlled by the cams to provide the sliding movement necessary for the formation of the stitches of the tubular fabrics. Sliding movement is provided such that the hooks do not cross over during the formation of stitches such that it is possible to work on both bars simultaneously.
