  • Patent number: 11225736
Abstract: A circular knitting machine includes a needle-holding cylinder having plurality of longitudinal grooves arranged around central axis, and plurality of needles, each being housed in longitudinal groove. Drive chain for each needle is inserted into each groove and operatively placed between needle and actuating cams. Drive chain includes sub-needle slidingly arranged in groove and having a butt. Butt is radially movable between operating position, extracted to engage with respective first paths and cause activation of needle and stitch formation, and non-operating position, retracted so as not to engage with first paths. A selector is arranged under sub-needle, and punch is arranged between sub-needle and selector. An activating element is slidingly arranged in groove between sub-needle and selector, can be longitudinally moved with respect to punch and sub-needle, and can be operatively engaged with sub-needle to switch butt of sub-needle into and retain it in operating position.

  • Patent number: 11214899
Abstract: A circular knitting machine includes a needle-holding cylinder having plurality of longitudinal grooves housing plurality of needles, at least one yarn feed operatively associated to needles, actuating cams arranged around and movable relative to cylinder, drive chain for each needle operatively placed between needle and actuating cams. Drive chain includes: sub-needle, selector having butt which can be engaged with selector paths, selecting device acting, punch equipped with butt which can be engaged with punch paths. Punch paths include a tuck stitch ascent and drop stitch ascent for each yarn feed. Inlet of drop stitch ascent circumferentially precedes inlet of tuck stitch ascent. Selector paths include a single track defining first and second ascents placed in succession for each yarn feed. First ascent circumferentially precedes second and is operatively associated to drop stitch ascent and second ascent is operatively associated to tuck stitch ascent.

  • Publication number: 20040065123
Abstract: A knitting method of joining together adjacent fabrics (3, 5), which are arranged side by side and knitted in a tubular form, at ends thereof on the sides adjacent to each other by using a flat knitting machine so that the joining portion of knitwear, such as a side part of sweater or at a crotch of pants, is prevented from being holed and is also increased in pull strength. The knitting progresses from one of the tubular knitted fabrics (3) to the other tubular knitted fabric (5) to join together the tubular fabrics, during which a yarn is fed to needles holding loops formed one stitch backward with respect to a join processing direction to provide a tubular knitting for the needles, followed by shifting the yarn to needles holding loops formed two stitches forward with respect to the join processing direction, to provide the same tubular knitting as above for the needles, the knitting steps being repeatedly performed.

  • Publication number: 20010052248
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for manufacturing tubular items, particularly hosiery items, closed at an axial end. The method consists in forming the tubular item on a circular knitting machine by way of the needles of the needle cylinder, starting from the opposite axial end of the item with respect to the axial end to be closed and retaining on the needles of the needle cylinder the last formed row of knitting. The loops of the last row of knitting are then transferred individually from the needles of the needle cylinder to an auxiliary element provided with elements for individually supporting the loops. The supporting elements of at least one half-row of the last row are suitable to receive two loops and to form knitting. The item is reversed before or after transferring it and the loops of one half-row are transferred from the corresponding supporting elements to the supporting elements engaged with the loops of the other half-row.

  • Patent number: 5335517
Abstract: The anatomical isotonic sock and method for knitting the sock provide enhanced protection and cushioning comfort to the foot of the wearer and is form-fitting and remains so after prolonged periods of use and numerous launderings. The sock has a knit foot and includes a relatively thick density of terry loops formed of at least three terry yarns in the ball and heel portions of the foot for supplementing and protecting the fatty pads so as to provide a therapeutic and preventative benefit to the foot of the wearer. A relatively thin density of terry loops formed of at least one terry yarn is knit in an arch portion and an instep portion of the foot and an intermediate density of terry loops formed of two terry yarns is knit in a toe portion.
