  • Patent number: 11905645
Abstract: A method for controlling a laundry treating apparatus includes a dry cloth sensing operation of sensing an amount of clothes put into a drum, a wet cloth sensing operation of sensing a washing load based on a moisture content of the clothes by supplying water into a tub, and a cloth material sensing operation of sensing a cloth material of the clothes put into the drum based on a rpm gap and a motor-constrained state where rotation of a motor is restricted. The rpm gap is a difference between a target rpm of a rotator in the drum and an actual rpm of the rotator.

Abstract: A drum-type washing machine including a rotatable pulsator. The drum-type washing machine includes a water tub to contain water therein. A rotary drum is included in the water tub and rotating in alternating directions to hold laundry located in the rotary drum to be washed. A pulsator is rotatably mounted to a predetermined position of the rotary drum. A rotation guide unit rotates the pulsator by a rotating force of the rotary drum. The pulsator mounted to the rotary drum increases a physical force applied to laundry, thus enhancing a washing effect.

  • Patent number: 7171828
Abstract: A washing machine includes a wobbling device having a rotary blade. The wobbling device causes a wobbling action of a washboard without rotating the washboard during a washing mode operation, and rotates the rotary blade in one direction to allow a sufficient amount of wash water to flow upward through an ascending water current guide and fall from an upper portion of a spin-drying tub onto clothes contained in the spin-drying tub, thus effectively washing the clothes. The washboard is installed at a lower portion in the spin-drying tub such that it wobbles upward and downward. The rotary blade is installed under the washboard, and is rotated in one direction by torque of a washing shaft. The rotary blade is fitted over a boss which couples a vertical rotary shaft of the wobbling device to the washing shaft, and is rotated by the torque of the washing shaft. The water current guide extends along a sidewall of the spin-drying tub from a lower end to an upper end of the spin-drying tub.

  • Patent number: 7131159
Abstract: A method of controlling a wobbling washing machine which performs a washing operation, a rinsing operation, and a disentangling operation by wobbling a washing plate. The disentangling operation includes wobbling the washing plate at a speed higher than a wobbling speed of the washing plate for performing the washing or rinsing operation. The method allows a load of laundry to be effectively disentangled by a wobbling action of the washing plate at a motor's rotating speed which is preset to be higher than the motor's rotating speed at the washing or rinsing operation. The method further includes performing the disentangling operation before and after each of a first spin-drying operation and a final spin-drying operation to further minimize tangling of the laundry.

  • Patent number: 6886372
Abstract: A tipping mechanism for a vertical axis washing machine includes an agitator, a drive member, a tipping member and a stationary pivot member. The pivot member preferably takes the form of a ball which is received in a socket defined by the tipping member. In a preferred form of the invention, the pivot member is provided with at least one guide member which is received in an arcuate channel, including both horizontal and vertical components, defined by the tipping member. In operation, the drive member causes the tipping member to rotate, while the arrangement of the guide member in the arcuate channel forces the tipping member to shift in various planes. This movement imparts a combination rotating and tipping motion to the agitator.

  • Patent number: 6227014
Abstract: An agitator for a clothes washer having radially extending vanes and a slide member between the vanes. Vanes extend from the barrel portion of the agitator toward the outer perimeter of the skirt. The vanes have a base toward the barrel and a tip toward the outer perimeter of the skirt. The vanes have a right and a left side with each side having multiple planar faces for maximizing tip deflection. The pivot point, or connection point, of the base to the agitator has been lowered by connecting it to the center ring area of the skirt. Thus, vane breakage is reduced without decreasing washability. Slide members having a downward slope extend from the agitator barrel to the skirt at a slope less steep than the center ring area, but more steep than the slope of the skirt. These members move clothes from the barrel outward toward the perimeter of the skirt.
