Abstract: The process and apparatuses for the continuous application of liquors to a moving textile fiber web by the methods of metering roller application or pad mangle application, to be selected and changed-over at will. Elements of one application mode are also used, with other functions, for the other mode. The textile web need not be withdrawn from the apparatus and reintroduced along another path during or after change-over from one mode to the other.

Abstract: This invention relates to automatic clothes washing machines, and more particularly to an improved structure in such machines for affecting the washing of very small loads of clothing in a high detergent concentration. The clothes washing machine has wash, rinse and spin extraction operations including an outer imperforate tub, an agitator, a first basket within the tub, a second smaller basket disposed within the first basket and positioned on the agitator for movement therewith. There is also a water supply for feeding water into the machine, drive system for operating the agitator to effect washing of clothes and for rotating the basket to centrifugally extract water from the clothes. Water is allowed to flow from the basket to the tub and then recirculated through a filter and into the baskets. The recirculation system is controlled wherein only a predetermined volume of water is transferred from the outer tub to the small basket by the recirculation system.

There is also a water supply for feeding hot and cold water into the machine, electrically powered drive for operating the agitator to effect washing of the fabrics and for rotating the baskets to centrifugally extract water from the fabrics. Water is allowed to flow from the baskets into the tub and may be recirculated from the tub into the baskets during the wash and rinse operations. The improvement is a separate cycle of a continuous wash and rinse operation followed by a spin extraction operation for washing clothes in only the second basket while fresh water is introduced continuously into the second basket during the combined wash and rinse operation and directed to drain and not recirculated.

Abstract: An agitator for domestic washing machines of conventional design is modified to provide tapped apertures to threadedly engage elongated rods, which are adapted to receive the core of circular filters; and, threaded closures are provided to close the tapped apertures for clothes washing; and, an adapter to convert the agitator of clothes washing agitator type machines to wash elongated circular filters.

Abstract: Apparatus for applying a treatment medium to a continuously movable textile web and subsequently drying the web comprises a treatment housing wholly supported by and thermally insulated from a dryer housing so as to minimize greatly the space required for the successive treating and drying operations. The treating housing preferably contains means which are operable to enable the web selectively to be treated or not treated.
