  • Patent number: 4030962
Abstract: This invention relates to heat transfer presses and more particularly to the transferring of a colored picture printed on paper to polyester knit goods by means of heat and pressure. The polyester cloth heat softens while the ink vaporizes and passes through the intercies of the cloth. The cooling of the cloth locks the vapors in the material producing the effect of a dyeing process.

  • Patent number: 4020658
Abstract: An apparatus for wet-treating, particularly for dyeing, a fabric in the form of a continuous circulating rope of cloth, wherein the rope of cloth is fed into a kier by introducing it by means of a treating liquid and is moved farther within the kier. The treating liquid is circulated through outlets out of the kier and through inlets into the kier when feeding-in the rope of cloth by means of said liquid. The rope of cloth is fed-in into a drum pivoted in the kier, is moved together with this drum along a part of the circumference of said kier and is removed from the drum in order to be repeatedly fed-in. The treating liquid is removed from the drum after the feeding-in of the rope of cloth, and that part of the rope of cloth which is actually within the drum is deposited therein in a non-floating state.

  • Patent number: 4005500
Abstract: The invention relates to a process of finishing textiles, for example treating them with a dyestuff, in which the textile is driven around a closed circuit. Progress of the textile may be assisted by contact with a driven roller but is at least partially advanced by the action of a flow of air under pressure impinging at an oblique angle on the textile while the treatment liquor is being applied and then by a flow of steam or steam and air impinging on the textile, which also raises the temperature to the fixing temperature of the dyestuff.

  • Patent number: 4002046
Abstract: An apparatus for effecting the coloration of synthetic textile materials, at a reduced pressure, by a transfer process which comprises a pair of opposed rigid platens mounted for relative movement towards and away from each other, means for heating at least one of said platens to a temperature above 100.degree.

  • Patent number: 3994146
Abstract: Apparatus for applying dyestuffs to textile materials by transfer of the dyestuffs sublimated at reduced pressure, characterized in that it comprises a cooling roll for cooling heated, printed or dyed material to temperatures lower than its secondary transition point and, if desired, further comprises at least one of a pre-heating roll for lessening the temperature gradient between the surface and reverse sides of the textile material to be printed when transfer printing is effected on a heating roll, a brushing roll for remedying deformed, printed textile material and a means for controlling the feeding rates of a transfer printing paper and a backing paper with respect to each other thereby to minimize the difference in peripheral velocity on the heating roll between the printing paper and backing paper.

  • Patent number: 3983723
Abstract: A treating liquid in form of a preferably highly concentrated solution or dispersion is entrained in a stream of gas, and the thus-entrained finely divided particles of liquid are sprayed against a material to be treated.

  • Patent number: 3964962
Abstract: Gaseous reaction apparatus wherein a portion of the supplied gas is discharged from the reaction vessel at a location below the upper level of a therein contained columnar mass of material wherein the gas is discharged into a receiving chamber extending along the outer periphery of the vessel and open to the lower portion of the vessel through an unrestricted opening being free from screens and filters, and such discharged portion of the gas, with or without cooling, is recirculated back into the upper inlet end of the vessel, thereby controlling the temperature in the vessel by removing or redistributing heat therein. Such apparatus is particularly useful in the gas phase treatment of fibrous material such as the bleaching or delignification of lignin-containing cellulose pulp.

  • Patent number: 3949574
Abstract: A machine for the colour printing of textile webs or structures such as carpets and tiles which are tufted or non-woven wherein the colour is sublimatic dyestuff carried by a printing foil and this is placed over the textile structure with the dyestuff facing the textile structure to form a sandwich. Heat is applied by a heating plate to vaporize the dyestuff, and an air flow through the sandwich is created by making the heating plate of sintered, air permeable metal, supporting the sandwich on an air permeable support, and by creating an air pressure differential across the sandwich. The support includes a grid plate on which the textile web is supported and there is an evacuation chamber under the grid plate to assist in producing or for producing the air flow. The chamber and heating plate are movable apart for loading and unloading of the machine.
