A contact pressure gap is formed between the side walls and the adjacent surfaces of the two outer plates, and the central plate includes a yarn receiving groove on each of its outer surfaces. The central plate is laterally movable to a threading position wherein the grooves are exposed, and heating duct means is provided for introducing a hot pressurized vapor into the contact pressure gaps, to bias the two outer plates inwardly toward each other and thereby resiliently engage the central plate therebetween. The pressurized vapor is also conducted to each of the yarn receiving grooves.

  • Patent number: 4462229
Abstract: A fluid flow suppressor for use with a number of running threadlines comprising a pair of plates which are rotatable about a common axis substantially parallel to the threadlines, the plates being provided with apertures through which the threadlines may be threaded when the apertures are superimposed and a number of slots corresponding to the number of threadlines, the slots in one of the plates opening into the right hand side of the aperture in that plate and the slots in the other of the plates opening into the left hand side of the aperture in that other plate, the slots being so disposed that on rotation of the plates they superimpose on each other.

  • Patent number: 4142279
Abstract: An apparatus for treating a tow of filaments with a fluid, the apparatus forming a tow path therethrough and having a pair of guide surfaces positioned on opposite sides of the tow in series with each other in such a manner that the two path has at least two bends. Fluid nozzles associated with each of the guide surfaces are positioned in such a manner that fluid from these nozzles flows in layers along the guide surfaces and passes through the tow at the bends in the two path. This apparatus is capable of treating a tow under little or no tension, so that it can be used to anneal and shrink tows of certain filaments. The moving fluid advances the tow through the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4119747
Abstract: The method of applying a finish to a tow of filaments, wherein the tow is advanced along a path through a housing having at least two bends in opposite direction to each other and passing a liquid containing a finish along the walls of the housing to the inside corners of the bends. The stream of liquid has a sufficiently high velocity that it clings in layers to the walls of the housing to the inside corners thereof, the bends being sufficiently great that the stream will separate from the walls of the housing and pass through the tow at a high velocity.

  • Patent number: 4118190
Abstract: The method of annealing a tow of acrylonitrile-containing filaments, wherein the tow is advanced along a path through a housing under tension less than the shrinking tension of the tow, the path having at least two bends in opposite directions to each other, and passing steam along the walls of the housing to the inside corners of the bends, the steam having a sufficient velocity that it clings in layers to the walls of the housing to the inside corners thereof, the bends being sufficiently great that the steam will separate from the walls of the housing and pass through the tow at a tow-forwarding velocity at the inside corners.

  • Patent number: 3982412
Abstract: This invention relates to a device for the transfer and the treatment of textile yarns comprising a pneumatic means comprising a body pierced from top to bottom with a channel of transversal section, preferably oblong the surface of said body increasing from upstream to downstream, said body being slit in the forepart to make the channel communicate with the outside on substantially its whole length along the generatrix of channel, and a higher part provided with at least a tubular member allowing a fluid to be fed to at least two orifices, parallel to the axis of the nozzle channel, said tubular members communicating with the higher part of said channel by means of a chamber, and a slot for permitting the passage of yarn from the outside towards said channel.
