Abstract: A multi-purpose tool or apparatus includes multiple mechanical tools. In one implementation, the multi-purpose tool includes an elongated handle, a folding axe, and a folding shovel or spade, as well as a hammer or hammer-head. The folding axe is foldable between an open position and a closed position. The folding shovel is foldable among three positions, which are a closed shovel position, a 90-degree open shovel position, and a 180-degree extended shovel position. The elongated handle is hollow and includes an elongated cavity. A folding saw, as well as a knife and a sheath to protect the knife, are stored within the elongated cavity and can be removed therefrom.

This allows the user to move the center of mass of the system such that it is self-stabilizing on the user's head. Moreover, the removable counterweight may be formed such that when it is removed, it may be coupled with an attachable handle to form a plurality of tools or weapons. This is beneficial in that it provides a collection of tools while only one object need be carried.

An embodiment requires a form of contact with only a single point on the line, uses an inclinometer, may use a length measuring system, and performs a trigonometric calculation to report data related to the shortest distance. Variants include integration of an inclinometer with a form of length measurement device. One embodiment integrates a manually powered excavation, fill and/or grading implement such as a shovel with an inclinometer attached to or imbedded in the shovel handle. Trigonometric functions of incline angles and length measurements report data related to the shortest distance in general, and in particular to ongoing depth of manual excavations, cuts or fills relative to a desired slope or grade.

In various configurations, the inner nestable member and the intermediate nestable member may extend from either end of the outer nestable member to form any number of elongated tools. In another configuration of the embodiment, the inner nestable member and the intermediate nestable member may be retracted to the end of the outer nestable member to form more compact tools. A number of application-specific heads may be operably coupled to the nestable members to form camping tools. In another configuration, the nestable members may be unnested and operably coupled as individual members to form tripod or non-linear-shaped tools.

A corrugated pattern is formed on the top and bottom surfaces of the first and second gripping sections. A central open-top channel extends longitudinally across the body of the device. A handle is formed in the first gripping section by an aperture extending therethrough. The intermediate section forms a relatively elongated and short shaft which can also be used as a handle.

Abstract: A folding garden tool particularly adapted for indoor use includes several miniature implements hinged together at their rear ends which also provide useful functions. A miniature scoop and combination rake and aerator have a combination spike and serrated cutter knife pivoted between them. The forward ends of the scoop and rake nest together to house the spike and knife. The rear ends of the scoop and rake provide cooperating halves of a tamper when aligned with each other and the combination spike has a knife shaped rear end that cooperates with a recess in the end of the rake to provide a pruner. All sharp surfaces of the combination spike are shielded in the folded or aligned condition of the tool.
