Patent number: 6959465Abstract: The invention is a magnetized tool for holding or retrieving nails. This is shown as a hammer having a magnet which may be on a removable cover or an extendable arm, mounted within the shaft or adjacent to the shaft of a hammer on the removable cover. The magnet is removable from the shaft to temporarily magnetize the striking face of the hammer so that a nail mail be held on the striking face temporarily. The magnet may be removably held to the hammer with a magnetic metal, such as another magnet which may be similar in size and shape and may be glued in place on the hammer. In another embodiment, the tool is a paint shield which may have bens to fit under walls. The shield may also serve to hold paint absorbing sheets to prevent spills and to clean up spills. The sheets may define a curving lip which curves upward to catch paint spills.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2002Date of Patent: November 1, 2005Inventor: Robert Foster

Patent number: 6922864Abstract: A multi purpose hand tool includes an elongate generally cylindrical handle having opposite first and second ends. The handle is adapted for grasping by a user and has a hole through the handle located substantially mid-way along the length of the handle. The hole extends through the handle so that a digit of the user's hand, when grasping the handle, may be inserted through the hole.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2003Date of Patent: August 2, 2005Inventors: Gary Richard Clarke, Jim Keller, Bob Storz

Patent number: 6868570Abstract: A hand tool is usable as a wrench and a hook. One end of the tool has a hand grip and the other end a hook. The hook has a pry tip usable to pry open service vault lids. A wrench socket is disposed on the hand grip. The hook is usable as a handle to rotate the wrench socket on the opposite end of the tool. Maintenance crews can use the built-in wrench to remove bolts from vault lids without kneeling down. The tool can then be reversed and used as a hook to lift the vault lid without bending down to grasp the edge of the vault lid. This can reduce back injuries to maintenance crews. In addition, injuries from snake and spider bites are reduced because maintenance crews need not use their hands to pry open the vault lids.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2003Date of Patent: March 22, 2005Inventors: Richard G. Sanders, James W. Gotcher

Patent number: 6862765Abstract: A tool includes a tool bit, a handle and a locking device. The tool bit includes a working head formed at an end, an insert formed at an opposite end and at least one annular groove defined in the insert. The handle includes a grip formed at an end, a socket defining a cavity for receiving the insert of the tool bit and a joint via which the socket is connected with an opposite end of the handle. The locking device can lock the insert of the tool bit in a releasable manner. The locking device includes a tunnel defined in the joint so that an axis of the tunnel is parallel to that of the cavity. A latch defines at least one notch. The latch is movable in the tunnel between a locking position and a releasing position. The locking device includes at least one truncated conical hole through which the cavity is communicated with the tunnel. The at least one truncated conical hole includes a first end at the cavity and a second end at the tunnel.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2002Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Inventor: Mou-Tang Liou
