    Abstract: A locking device for a door. The device includes at least one locking element movably mounted on the door. The door is locked by extending each locking element along one diagonal line of the door until the outer edge of the element enters into a recess in adjacent sides of the door frame. The door is unlocked by retracting each locking element along the diagonal line to the point where the outer edge of the element has exited from the recess and the inner edge is resting on the other diagonal line of the door.

    Abstract: An improved locking system for furniture of the type having a plurality of drawers, at least one of which is locked from a remote position through a keyed operator module by translating a slide bar to interfere with one of the drawers in a locked position. A flexible, rotatable cable extends between the operator module and a connector/actuator module associated with the slide bar. The connector/actuator module comprises a crank with an integral shaft and rotatable, eccentric lug which is directed in an L-shaped slot in a slide plate. Rotation of the cable imparts translatory movement to the slide plate which is followed by the slide bar. In another aspect of the invention, the operator module, which is geared to the cable through a translatable rack, causes extension of a bolt on the rack to lock a second drawer simultaneously as the slide bar realizes a locked position.

    Abstract: A door-locking device is described including a plurality of locking bars drivable to a locking position projecting from the sides of the door into the door frame by means of a rotatable drive gear and a plurality of gear-cam segments, one for each locking bar. Each segment includes gear teeth formed on a first portion of its outer circumference meshing with the teeth of the drive gear, and a cam surface formed on a second portion of its outer circumference engageable by a cam follower carried by its respective locking bar. The locking device further includes a key-operated locking cylinder and an overlying protector plate having an opening covered by a disc formed with the key slot, the disc being yieldingly secured to the protector plate to thereby prevent a drill from penetrating same into the lock cylinder.

    Abstract: A two dead bolt door lock is disclosed wherein the bolts are transversely disposed and wherein the bolts are disposed one behind the other in the locked position so as to provide a secure locking mode. When door mounted, and in the locked position, a vertical bolt is disposed on the inside of the door adjacent the jamb and a horizontal bolt is mounted in the jamb. Attempts to jimmy the horizontal bolt in its line of least resistance are frustrated by the presence of the vertically locked bolt acting against the jimmying force. The locks are both operated by a single key actuated cylinder and/or hand knob through a common connection rod with coordinated cam actions. In another embodiment, keys may be employed on both the inside and the outside of the door.

    Abstract: A locking structure for use with a door equipped with a latching member capable of being linearly moved in latching and unlatching the door can be constructed so as to utilize a control part secured to the latching member. Openings are provided in the control part and in the door in positions in which these openings are aligned when the latching member is in a latched position. A lock mechanism including an end flange may be inserted through the openings when they are aligned so that the flange fits against the exterior of the door. This lock mechanism includes a movable retainer which can be moved by appropriate actuation of the lock mechanism so as to extend outwardly from the locking mechanism in such a manner as to engage the control part. When this retainer engages the control part the locking mechanism is secured in place in such a manner that the latching member cannot be moved so as to unlatch the door. A protective structure is preferably used on the door around the opening within the door.
