Dead Bolt Patents (Class 70/168)
  • Patent number: 5683122
Abstract: A locking device for manhole inner covers is disclosed. The locking device is operated only by an authorized key thus almost completely protecting the underground arrangements such as pipes, drains or wires from unauthorized persons, who intend to reach the arrangements with the object of damaging or breaking the arrangements. The locking device is cased by a longitudinal channel type housing. Two reciprocating units are arranged in the housing so that the arrangement of the units inside the housing is point-symmetric about the center of the housing. Each unit has a plurality of regularly-spaced gear holes, which selectively engage with the asterisk part of a key. A locking bolt is coupled to each reciprocating unit and fully projects or retracts from or into the housing. A keyhole panel is movably seated on a central member so that the keyhole panel can move in a vertical direction. The keyhole panel has an asterisk keyhole.

  • Patent number: 5404736
Abstract: An attachable vehicle hand brake lock assembly capable of being selectively attached over the end of a push button-activated hand brake to prevent its release. The lock assembly includes a cylindrical shaped body designed to be placed longitudinally over the upward extending end of the hand brake handle. The body includes an upper lock, a central threaded section, and a lower, threaded clamping section. The lock assembly also includes an outer sleeve with internal threads capable of being interconnected with the threads on the body enabling the sleeve to be moved upward and downward over the body during use. When initially attached to the handle, the lower section which is made up of two clamping arms is slanted and biased outward away from the outer surface of the handle to enable the lock assembly to slide easily over the handle. When the sleeve is rotated and moved downward over the clamping arms, their inner surfaces are forced inward against the handle to hold the lock assembly in place thereon.

  • Patent number: 4228746
Abstract: A lockbox is disclosed, as for use in hotel closets, which includes an above-floor container fixed to define a space with a rectangular opening for closure by a locking cover. The cover incorporates a peripheral double ridge defining a peripheral channel to receive the upper edges of the container. Pairs of latching cam members are pivotally affixed at central, diametrically opposed locations in the cover, for actuation by a centrally located lock movement for engagement and disengagement with slots in the container. The movement is accomplished through a symmetrical linkage mechanism which simultaneously actuates each of the individual cam members and which incorporates a pair of parallel arms extending between pairs of the cam members and a pair of linking arms extending from the parallel arms to the lock movement. The pivotal support shafts for the cam members also serve as spacer mounts to support an internal cover for the locking mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4156501
Abstract: A cylindrical money box assembly that is received in a housing through a generally circular opening thereof and has a locking mechanism with a plate that is rotatable to position projecting portions in relation to a set of parts of the housing. In one position of the plate, corresponding to an unlocked state, the projecting portions are located to clear the set of housing parts allowing insertion of the money box assembly into the housing, and removal therefrom. In another position of the plate, corresponding to a locked state, the projecting portions engage and interfere with the set of housing parts to securely lock the money box assembly to the housing.

  • Patent number: 4151991
Abstract: A billiard cue chalk cube holder, having a base plate mountable on a flat surface by screws, nails, or the like, is provided with a lockable cover which is internally partitioned to form one or more chalk cube receptacles. The cover has an internal latch which is rotatable by a key to alternately engage and disengage slots in the legs of a U-shaped member attached to the base plate. When the cover is attached to the base plate, the nails or screws securing the base plate to the supporting surface are completely concealed, thereby discouraging theft of the chalk cubes.

  • Patent number: 4012930
Abstract: A lock device comprises a cylindrical container securable by split clamps to the frame of a device, and is adapted to store a case-hardened chain. The container has "pass-and-catch" notches at one end for receiving penultimate links of the chain, when the chain is used to lock a device. The container is closed by a lockable cap, which closes the upper ends of the notches to anchor the chain ends. The entire accessible portion of the structure, including the clamps, the container, the cap, and the chain, is of case-hardened steel. The clamps are secured to the container by tamper proof fastening elements. A preferred embodiment includes a container and a lockable cap having splining tongs formed from the rim portion thereof, and has clamps secured to a bicycle post by tamper proof bolts. The rim of the container is bent over at opposite sides to form keeper portions under which ends of a lock-controlled latching bar may be moved.
