  • Patent number: 6508087
Abstract: A locking system is disclosed for use with a cargo container. The locking system comprises a housing which is adapted to be mounted to a door of the cargo storing container. Three rods extend from the housing with the rods having a locked position extending beyond the periphery of the door and an unlocked position not extending beyond the periphery of the door. A handle extends from the housing. The handle rotatably engages a cam plate contained within the housing. The cam plate is operatively engaged with the three rods whereby rotation of the handle rotates the cam plate which moves the rods from one position to the other. A locking tab extends forwardly from the cam plate into a recess in the housing. The locking tab is engaged by a circular lock while the recess prevents movement of the engaged circular lock.

  • Patent number: 6494064
Abstract: An enclosed and concealed lock device is disclosed which provides a high degree of security. The device is resistant to tampering and to brute force destruction. One or more latches are engageable with a strike plate in a door jamb or with a strike box, which is also enclosed. A seal trim prevents access to the latch. A slide assembly having a padlock is located within a latch enclosure. An orifice on a pivotal link attaches to the shackle of the padlock. Locking the padlock raises the padlock body into the protective latch box enclosure, and prevents movement of the slide assembly. A first limiter restricts vertical movement of the shackle, allowing the padlock to be engaged by upward movement of the padlock body.

Abstract: An improved internal component lock for storage containers is disclosed which comprises a body having a hasp space, a keyway and a retaining space. The hasp space, the keyway and a retaining space are joined within said body. The keyway has a locking mechanism contained therein. The locking mechanism actuates a shackle which is adapted to slidably extend from the locking mechanism across the hasp space to the retaining space when the locking mechanism is in the locked position. The shackle engages a hasp extending into the hasp space in the locked position while being retained within locking mechanism in the unlocked position. At least two retaining pins have a shaped upper edge adapted to deter drilling and are vertically mounted on either side of the retaining space to retain the shackle therewithin when in the locked position.

Abstract: A protector device for hardware latch members used in conventional containers and trailers to secure in place the pivoting locking bar members. The device includes a housing having a substantially rectangular cross-section defined by side walls, a top wall and a bottom wall. Hingedly mounted tabs extending outwardly from the inner edge of the side walls are foldable within the housing and secured on the hardware latch members of the door being protected. The distal ends of the latch members include openings though which a conventional protective seal member is passed. Upper and lower concave members join the walls' outer edges and they are separated defining aperture inbetween. In front of the aperture a convex wall is mounted to the outer edges of the side walls and cutouts on the upper and lower walls permit a protective seal member through. • Patent number: 5934116
Abstract: A locking apparatus is provided for locking the rear doors of a trailer that has door closing members that include left and right vertical bars on the doors and horizontal clasps that attach respectively to the bars. The apparatus includes a pair of structural blocks that are attached to the doors using bolting or welding for example. A hollow spanning member is transversely positioned to span between the blocks, the spanner member having a central open-ended bore that communicates with preferably both end portions of the bar. Each of the blocks has a receptacle that slidably receives an end portion of the bar. One of the blocks has a vertical channel that extends through the block between its upper and lower surfaces and which communicates with the receptacle. This enables a locking member to be positioned in the channel and form a connection with the bar at the intersection of the receptacle and the channel.

Abstract: A plurality of walls form a housing cavity in which a latch hasp is received. An opening in the housing receives therethrough the latch hasp, the latch enclosing the cavity. The bolt seal has a shank with a head at one end or with a U-shaped bight in a second embodiment. The head engages a housing wall and a locking body engages and locks to the shank at a shank end distal the head. The shank between the head and lock body is fully enclosed by the housing and latch to preclude access to the shank by tampering tools. In a second embodiment, the shank bight engages the received hasp of a latch. The shank distal the bight is locked to the housing by a locking body. The latch depends into and encloses the housing cavity open at the top. The shank between the bight and the locking body is fully enclosed in the cavity. Different housings are disclosed wherein the head may be enclosed or exposed for access by a shank breaking tool. A reusable bolt and locking body is disclosed for use with several embodiments.

Abstract: An antitheft article for a motor vehicle has two parts which are pivotable relative to one another between an open position and a closed position. Each of the parts resembles a box having an open side, and the open sides of the box-like parts face each other. A padlock is fixed to one of the box-like parts, and a tubular element for receiving the shackle of the padlock is fixed to the other of the box-like parts. One of the box-like parts is further provided with a pedestal. In operation, the box-like parts are opened and placed around the tread of the brake pedal with the pedestal facing the floorboard of the vehicle. The box-like parts are closed and, in the process, the shackle of the padlock passes through the tubular element. The padlock is locked thereby fixing the box-like parts with respect to one another. Cutouts are formed in the box-like parts for the lever supporting the tread of the brake pedal.
