Lock With Indicator Patents (Class 70/DIG59)
  • Patent number: 6116066
Abstract: An electronic combination lock having a dial-shape handle with a keypad incorporated therein is disclosed. Rotation of the handle extends or retracts a bolt that closes or opens the lock. The keypad includes indicia that give the user visual cues as to the orientation of the handle, thereby informing the user of the extended or retracted condition of the bolt. A battery pack is used to energize circuitry that recognizes a code entered through the keypad. The circuitry provides a control signal that activates a solenoid to extend or retract a bolt blocking device, which in turn prevents or enables movement of the bolt. A visual indicator warns of a low voltage or power condition in the battery pack. Electrical contacts are provided in the face plate of the handle to connect the circuitry to an external power source in case the battery pack fails.

  • Patent number: 5613382
Abstract: A new and improved device for securing the accelerator and brake pedals of a vehicle including a lower plate having a first rectangular notch and a second rectangular notch, a primary aperture and a secondary aperture, a lock indicator having a lower surface and an upper surface with the upper surface of the lock indicator secured to the lower plate, a number of light emitting diodes secured to one of the edges of the lock indicator. The device further includes an upper plate having a first rectangular notch and a secondary rectangular notch, a primary aperture and a secondary aperture. A pin is employed in securing the lower plate to the upper plate by way of the primary aperture. The pin enables the lower and upper plates to be pivotally related to each other. A locking device is secured within the secondary apertures of the lower plate and upper plate. The lock is defined by a key receiving end and a cylinder end.

  • Patent number: 5437173
Abstract: A lock for mounting on a window jamb for selectively grasping a keeper on a window sash to secure the sash closed against the jamb, including a base for mounting to the jamb and defining an open interior space along one side of the base, a rigid plate secured to the base adjacent the open interior space and including a guide slot therein, and a motor driven drive gear pivotable within the open interior space about a first axis. A pawl is secured to the drive gear at one end for pivoting about a second axis spaced from and substantially parallel to the first axis, and includes a keeper grasping portion at its other end. A guide pin projects from the pawl and is slidably received in the guide slot whereby rotation of the drive gear moves the keeper grasping portion of the pawl between the open position and the locking position.

  • Patent number: 5275029
Abstract: An improved refrigerator door-locking device is provided for locking a refrigerator door to a refrigerator body which may preferably be manufactured substantially of molded plastic parts. The locking device has an elongated first mountable casing which has an elongated opening, and a plunger member which has a projecting rod end and slotted outer rod end slidably fits within the opening. A bayonet connector is located at the projecting rod end of the plunger and a spring biases the plunger toward the projecting rod end. A bayonet receiver is located in a second mountable casing and interacts with the projecting rod end bayonet connector. The locking device provides a visual indication of when it is locked or unlocked.

  • Patent number: 4959981
Abstract: A portable antitheft locking mechanism for a motor vehicle steering wheel and brake pedal, e.g., a J-bar, having plural lighting elements, such as light emitting diodes, which generally indicate the profile of the locking mechanism so that it may be seen in darkness before forcible entry. The J-bar includes an independent source of power, such as a battery, which energizes the lighting elements either when the J-bar engages the vehicle member or when the access lock is secured, or both. The lighting elements provide means to inform the thief of the J-bar during darkness so as to deter his ill-intended efforts and spare the owner of unnecessary physical damage resulting from forcible entry. The J-bar preferably includes contact switch element which closes upon engagement with the steering wheel and/or a microswitch responsive to securement of an access lock on the mechanism to activate the lights thereby to conserve source when not in use.
