  • Patent number: 9645806
Abstract: A system and method for deploying a software application to a hosting environment that considers the development environment, and bases any decision on data about the development environment to make a selection of hosting environment and/or operational attributes. The system and methods determines and attaches metadata describing the development environment to an application, then uses that metadata to select a deployment model, and to select an operational model. The method assigns a security risk score to a developed application which may be hosted in a virtual hosting environment or a physical hosting environment. The system and method considers security issues in its scoring and focuses on the security risk associated with an application that would be deployed. The method steps convey the application attributes, such as complexity, robustness, likelihood of operational issued, likelihood of compromise, etc. to the deployment and operating entities.

  • Patent number: 9614742
Abstract: Described herein are systems, mediums, and methods for detecting blockage of network traffic at a network server. A signal representative of time series data associated with network traffic is received at a processor for analysis. A data segmentation algorithm and an anomaly detection algorithm are applied in series to the received data. The segmentation algorithm detects regime shifts in the data. Data between regime shifts is considered a segment of data. The anomaly detection algorithm analyzes each segment individually to determine whether anomalies exist in the segment. If a cyclic pattern is found in the segment, the cyclic pattern is extracted from the segment leaving a residual data for analysis. A probability distribution of the residual data is determined for analysis. When an anomaly is detected in the segment o based on the probability distribution of the residual data, it is determined that blockage has occurred on the network traffic.

  • Patent number: 9569449
Abstract: A data loss prevention (DLP) system provides a policy-based mechanism for managing how data is discovered and classified on an endpoint workstation, file server or other device within an enterprise. The technique described herein works in an automated manner by analyzing file system activity as one or more endpoint applications interact with a file system to build a statistical model of which areas of the file system are (or will be deemed to be) active or highly active. Using this information, scanning to those areas by the DLP software is then prioritized appropriately to focus compute resources on scanning and classifying preferably only those files and folders that are necessary to be scanned, i.e., the file system portions in which the user is applying the majority of his or her activity. As a result, the technique limits scanning to only those areas that have meaningful activity (thereby conserving compute resources with respect to files or folders that have not changed), improving scanning efficiency.

  • Patent number: 9531848
Abstract: Embodiments of the apparatus for modifying packet headers relate to programmable modifications of packets by applying commands to generalized protocol headers. Each protocol header of incoming packets is represented in a generic format specific to that protocol to enable modifications to packet headers. Missing fields from a protocol header are detected, and the protocol header is expanded to a maximum size such that the protocol header contains all possible fields of that protocol, including the missing fields. Each of the fields has the same offset irrespective of which variation of the protocol the protocol header corresponds to. Modification uses a set of commands that is applied to expanded protocol headers. All of the commands are thus generic as these commands are independent of incoming headers (e.g., size and protocol).

Abstract: Displaying communities associated with personalized data provides a user with access to relevant communities based on the user's activity with an electronic catalog. The communities include content which may be manipulated by user activity or non-user activity. The communities may facilitate user discussion or viewing of information related to the user's interests. The communities may be associated with elements associated with user interaction and/or based off recommended elements or categories associated with the user. Communities may be ranked or scored to improve the relevancy of the community for the user. Communities may be displayed with, for example, a personalized page for the user that may include other user recommendations, or the communities may be associated with other personalized pages within a website, among other possibilities.

Abstract: In one embodiment, one or more processor-readable media storing code representing instructions that when executed by one or more processors cause the one or more processors to receive a set of parameter values defining a boundary within a data space associated with a dataset. The dataset can represent signaling related to a test substance. A first metric can be defined based on a first portion of the dataset associated with a first region defined by the boundary. A second metric can be defined based on a second portion of the dataset associated with a second region defined by the boundary after the boundary is modified. The second region can be different than the first region.

Abstract: A computer program product includes a tangible storage medium readable by a processing circuit and on which instructions are stored for execution by the processing circuit for performing a method. The method includes, upon receiving utility consumption data of a group of elements, defining clusters of elements by like geography and like utility consumption, evaluating a significance of each cluster by comparing an average utility consumption within the cluster with utility consumption of elements neighboring the cluster and determining from a result of the evaluating which clusters exhibit significant differences in utility consumption from the neighboring elements and defining those clusters as regional outliers.

  • Patent number: 9143953
Abstract: Methods and devices for transmission of communications during a silence interval are described. A base station (BS) provides timing data to an access terminal (AT) and AT uses timing data to synchronize with BS to carry our silence and non-silence intervals for an RF air interface. AT attempts to initiate communications by transmitting an access probe (AP) to BS during a non-silence interval. Other ATs may transmit communications to BS during non-silence interval. If BS acknowledges AP during non-silence interval, AT does not transmit during a subsequent silence interval. If AP was for an emergency communication and BS does not acknowledge AP sent during non-silence interval, AT transmits another AP during the subsequent silence interval to initiate emergency communication. If AP was not for emergency communication, AT does not transmit AP during the subsequent silence interval. The other ATs do not transmit communications to BS during the subsequent silence interval.

  • Patent number: 9135286
Abstract: Methods for analyzing and rendering business intelligence data allow for efficient scalability as datasets grow in size. Human intervention is minimized by augmented decision making ability in selecting what aspects of large datasets should be focused on to drive key business outcomes. Variable value combinations that are predominant drivers of key observations are automatically determined from several competing variable value combinations. The identified variable value combinations can then be then used to predict future trends underlying the business intelligence data. In another embodiment, an observed outcome is decomposed into multiple contributing drivers and the impact of each of the contributing drivers can be analyzed and numerically quantified—as a static snapshot or as a time-varying evolution.

Abstract: Regime change in streaming data is detected. The streaming data is sent to a plurality of modules. Each module in the plurality of modules produces an association measure. The association measure is a measure of similarity between the streaming data and regime data associated with the module producing the association measure. A regime change in the streaming data is detected based on values of the association measures from the plurality of modules.

  • Patent number: 9055124
Abstract: Features are disclosed for caching network resources. A system determines whether a resource which does not contain an indication in its associated header that it is cacheable may nevertheless be cached. The determination may be based on observations of a number of requests for the resource over time and from a number of different requesting clients. In response to determining that the resource is cacheable, the system may cache the resource, and in some cases modify the cache control header of resource to facilitate caching. The system may insert fields into the header or otherwise modify the header so that the resource may be cached at a network computing provider, at a requesting client device, or at some other shared or private cache.
