  • Patent number: 8818765
Abstract: A commercial refrigeration system receives data from a plurality of compressors in a compressor rack, and uses the data to model a steady state amp draw for each of the compressors in the compressor rack. The system receives additional data from the plurality of compressors, and determines a steady state amp draw for each of the compressors from the additional data. The system then compares the amp draw from the additional data with the steady state amp draw model, and identifies a compressor fault based on the comparison of the steady state amp draw from the additional data with the steady state amp draw model.

Abstract: Various methods and systems are provided for monitoring and analysis of electrical components. In one embodiment, a method includes obtaining raw radio frequency (RF) component data associated with an electrical component, cross-correlating the raw RF component data with a synchronized pseudo-random sequence (PRS) signal injected into the electrical component to determine a correlated impulse response, and determining a condition of the electrical component based at least in part upon the correlated impulse response. In another embodiment, a system includes a signal injection system coupled to an electrical component. The signal injection system injects a synchronized PRS signal into the electrical component. A data capture device obtains raw RF component data synchronized with the PRS signal through a RF antenna. A data analysis device cross-correlates the raw RF component data with the PRS signal to determine characteristics associated with the electrical component.

  • Patent number: 8810173
Abstract: Continuous monitoring and fault diagnosis of rotating machinery during variable speed operation is performed using only a position feedback signal. The position sensor generates a periodic waveform having multiple pulses per revolution of the machine. A circuit is included to detect, for example, a zero crossing or edge of the periodic waveform. At each detected zero crossing or edge, the time and position of the event is stored in memory. Other data, such as the current in the motor, may also be sampled and stored in memory. Because the sampled data is triggered by repeated feature of the position feedback signal, the sampled data is in a stationary reference frame in the position domain. Frequency analysis is performed on the sampled data, and the frequency components present in either the sampled signal are analyzed to identify the presence of a fault in the rotating machinery.

Abstract: One embodiment relates to testing and verifying vibrator motor operation during manufacturing of a device and during in-the-field use. The test relies on an integrated motion sensor or other mechanical measurement circuitry, such as, for example, an accelerometer. In one embodiment, a speed determination for a vibrator motor performance during initial manufacture of the device. Subsequently, when vibration is detected during the in-the-field use, the vibration may be sampled using the integrated mechanical measurement circuitry. Once sampled, a speed may be determined based on a resonance of the sampled signal. Over time, the various speed determinations for the vibrator motor may be analyzed to determine an overall health of the vibrator motor. A threshold for detecting when the overall health of the vibration motor over time has degraded may be predetermined. A notification of a degradation of vibrator motor performance is sent to either a manufacturer or user of the mobile communications device.

Abstract: The self-healing system comprises a self-healing processor and an error mitigation system. The self-healing processor includes a code block associated with the operation of a portion of digital logic. The self-healing processor also includes a dynamic signature analysis circuit. The processor executes the code block. The dynamic signature analysis circuit creates a dynamic signature representing the operation of the portion of digital logic associated with the code block. The error mitigation system receives the dynamic signature from the dynamic signature analysis circuit. The error mitigation system compares the dynamic signature to a static signature to determine if the signatures match. If the signatures do not match, then the digital logic associated with the code block has an error. The error mitigation system retries execution of the code block. The error mitigation system stores log information describing the above events.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to method and apparatus for system problem diagnosis and recovery. According to embodiments of the present invention, problem symptom information in a system can be automatically monitored and collected BY a monitoring apparatus (or referred as to “agent”) deployed at the system side. Upon after receiving such information, the diagnosis apparatus, for example, may automatically determine a root cause of the problem by querying a backend knowledge repository, and possibly generate an executable software package for recovering the problem. If the diagnosis apparatus determines that the currently available information is insufficient to determine a creditable enough root cause and/or is insufficient to generate the software package for recovering the problem, the diagnosis apparatus may interactively control the monitoring apparatus to collect desired additional information. In this way, the efficiency and accuracy of problem diagnosis and recovery may be improved.

Abstract: A vehicle testing system and method includes a vehicle testing system that is operatively connected with a vehicle computer whereby the system is able to evaluate signals within the vehicle computer. The system includes a tamper testing sequence for detecting vehicle tampering comprising applying a test action to the vehicle intended to generate a signal in the vehicle computer responsive to the test action, monitoring the signal of the vehicle computer associated with the test action, and determining whether the signal meets an expected response. A determination that the signal of the vehicle computer associated with the test action does not meet the expected response indicates that tampering has occurred.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a system for detecting abnormalities in time-series performance data obtained from machines that implement an online professional network. During operation, the system receives the time-series data, including throughput measurements and/or latency measurements for requests made to back-end systems associated with the online professional network. Next, the system attempts to detect abnormalities in the time-series data. If such an abnormality is detected, the system looks up associated system metrics, which are temporally proximate to the abnormality. The system then generates a notification about the abnormality along with the associated system metrics to facilitate determining a root cause of the abnormality.

Abstract: Embodiments for determining NH3 slip past a catalyst are provided. In one example, a filtering method for a NOx sensor of an exhaust gas system having an SCR catalytic converter comprises determining NOx concentration upstream of the catalytic converter, measuring NOx concentration downstream of the catalytic converter, modeling NOx conversion, modeling NH3 slip behavior, calculating a NOx error of the NOx modeling, calculating an NH3 error of the NH3 modeling, assigning data of the NOx sensor as NH3 measured values when a ratio of the NOx error to the NH3 error is greater than an upper threshold value, and assigning data of the NOx sensor as NOx measured values when the ratio of the NOx error to the NH3 error is smaller than a lower threshold value. In this way, NOx slip and NH3 slip may be determined from a common sensor.
