  • Patent number: 11803980
Abstract: The invention relates to layered depth data. In multi-view images, there is a large amount of redundancy between images. Layered Depth Video format is a well-known formatting solution for formatting multi-view images which reduces the amount of redundant information between images. In LDV, a reference central image is selected and information brought by other images of the multi-view images that are mainly regions occluded in the central image are provided. However, LDV format contains a single horizontal occlusion layer, and thus fails rendering viewpoints that uncover multiple layers dis-occlusions. The invention uses light filed content which offers disparities in every directions and enables a change in viewpoint in a plurality of directions distinct from the viewing direction of the considered image enabling to render viewpoints that may uncover multiple layer dis-occlusions which may occurs with complex scenes viewed with wide inter-axial distance.

In addition, the system accepts input parameters related to fluid dynamics modeling. The input volumes and parameters are applied to the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations as modifications to the initial state of the animated special effect, as modifications to the forcing term of a pressure equation, or in the computations of other types of forces that influence the solution. The input volumetric data may be composited with other volumetric data using a scalar blending field. The solution of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations models the motion of the animated special effect.

Abstract: Described herein are techniques pertaining to real-time propagation of an arbitrary audio signal in a fixed virtual environment with dynamic audio sources and receivers. A wave-based numerical simulator is configured to compute response signals in the virtual environment with respect to a sample signal at various source and receiver locations. The response signals are compressed and placed in the frequency domain to generate frequency responses. Such frequency responses are selectively convolved with the arbitrary audio signal to allow real-time propagation with moving sources and receivers in the virtual environment.

  • Patent number: 8992446
Abstract: Dual-axis swallowing accelerometry is an emerging tool for the assessment of dysphagia (swallowing difficulties). These signals however can be very noisy as a result of physiological and motion artifacts. A novel scheme for denoising those signals is proposed, i.e., a computationally efficient search for the optimal denoising threshold within a reduced wavelet subspace. To determine a viable subspace, the algorithm relies on the minimum value of the estimated upper bound for the reconstruction error. A numerical analysis of the proposed scheme using synthetic test signals demonstrated that the proposed scheme is computationally more efficient than minimum noiseless description length (MNDL) based de-noising. It also yields smaller reconstruction errors (i.e., higher signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio) than MNDL, SURE and Donoho denoising methods. When applied to dual-axis swallowing accelerometry signals, the proposed scheme improves the SNR values for dry, wet and wet chin tuck swallows.

Abstract: Provided are a system and method for calculating and selecting a convergence path based on cost. In one example, the method includes identifying multiple geometric convergence paths that each provides a convergence solution from a defined bottom hole assembly (BHA) location to a target path. A total monetary cost is calculated for each of the geometric convergence paths using an offset cost based on a distance of the geometric convergence path from the target path, a curvature cost based on an amount of curvature of the geometric convergence path, and a time cost based on an estimated amount of time needed to drill the geometric convergence path. The total monetary costs of the geometric convergence paths are compared and one of the geometric convergence paths is selected based on the total monetary cost of that geometric convergence path relative to the total monetary costs of the other geometric convergence paths.
