Abstract: A system and method for converting a rebate sponsor's offer into an instant credit or price reduction against a follow-on purchase. Rebate requests are obtained at a site on the Internet. The rebate request is tested to confirm that the at least one predetermined criterion has been satisfied. The person making the rebate request is enabled to make the follow-on purchase, with the rebate being converted into the instant credit or price reduction against the total price of the follow-on purchase. The follow-on purchase transaction is completed by charging that person for the purchase. The credit or price reduction can be conditioned on at least one predetermined criterion such as amount being spent on the follow-on purchase, the vendor from which the follow-on purchase is being made, and other criteria. The credit or price reduction can be redeemed in parts across a series of follow-on purchase transactions. In another aspect of the invention, consumers are advised of rebate offers.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a retail energy marketing system including a server interacting with a remote display device, a sponsor, an energy market organization, and a set of financial services companies. The server executes an application for servicing customers while interacting with the remote display device and a sponsor application for sponsors to set up advertising and incentives for the retail energy marketing system. The server also executes a database, an ESI ID lookup application for validating customer eligibility for services and an accounting application for EMO energy usage transactions, EMO invoice transactions, customer bills, customer payments, treatment operations, customer incentives and sponsor commissions. A remote display device is placed at a retail location where customers can sign-up for energy services, view and print their billing and payment histories, and pay their bills. In return for using the remote display device, customers may receive incentives from the sponsor.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods and systems for facilitating gift registry. A variety of systems are provided which make registering for gifts more efficient for consumers and retailers. These systems include an express registration card system and a reverse registry system. The methods associate the various systems with a common registry number. The express registration card system enables a registrant to register for gifts without requiring identification information first be given. The reverse registry enables registration of items already owned in order to inform potential gift givers of preferences.

Abstract: Methods and systems for recycling a periodical are described. The methods may include the step of providing periodical information about the periodical to a recycling device, where the periodical is deposited with the recycling device. The methods may further include calculating one or more of discount offers based on the periodical information, and displaying the one or more of discount offers at the recycling device. One or more of the discount offers may be selected at the recycling device, and the selected offers may be printed into a ticket, coupon, or some other printed material at the recycling device.

Abstract: A promotion distribution system that distributes promotions based on where a user has parked provides the benefit of allowing providers or merchants to target promotions to particular areas where users park. The target areas may be remote from a merchant's location. In addition, since there are a vast number of vehicle drivers and passengers that park, the system provides a large audience for merchant promotions. The system may comprise one or more parking locators that detect the presence of a vehicle within a vicinity. A repository server and parking kiosk may retrieve promotions for presentation to a user based on where the user has parked and the area in which a promotion is targeted.

Abstract: A kiosk may be provided that contains a number of blank cards. A graphical user interface of the kiosk may allow a user to define products that may be associated with a blank card contained within the kiosk. Aesthetic and functional features may be applied to a blank card by a kiosk and dispensed to a user of the kiosk as a fully functional card. An interrogation device of a kiosk may retrieve products associated with a current card and may associate the retrieved products with a new card to be dispensed from the kiosk. A kiosk may access a network to preauthorize any products that may be associated with a card dispensed from or programmed by the kiosk.

Abstract: Codes, such as Quick Response (QR) codes, may be printed on a transaction receipt or displayed on a display unit of a workstation or self-service device (e.g., an ATM) to provide users with additional promotions or to service an error that may have occurred during the transaction. The code may be unique to the transaction and generated by the transaction device during the transaction. The code may encode information unique to the transaction, such as a unique identifier generated by the transaction device that links the code to a storage device storing additional information on the transaction. Users may scan the code to obtain additional promotion information or to contact a service agent to resolve an error.

Abstract: A system to provide price adjustments based on indicated product interest includes reception of an indication from a customer of interest in a first product, reception of an indication from a customer of interest in a second product, determination of a price adjustment for the second product based on the indication of interest in the first product, and transmission of the price adjustment to the customer. By virtue of the foregoing features, a retailer may be willing to provide a price adjustment for the second product which would otherwise not be provided. The method further includes retrieving, from the database, to memory in the kiosk, a rendering image and sample information including the account, a quantifier for the sample, and a good or service. The sample information is then written from the memory in the kiosk to a memory location in a free sample account transaction payment card stored within the kiosk and a hard copy of the rendering image is rendered on a surface of the free sample account transaction payment card.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for employing femto technology in an enterprise kiosk are presented herein. A content component can receive multimedia content from a base station coupled to a core network. Further, a transfer component can wirelessly transfer the received multimedia content to a mobile device utilizing a femto based wireless protocol based on, at least in part, a sale of the received multimedia content. A database component can store the received multimedia content in a data store, and the transfer component can wirelessly transfer the stored multimedia content to the mobile device utilizing the femto based wireless protocol. The transfer component can alternatively record the received multimedia content in a removable data storage device.

The method includes receiving, via an input device of a user interface, a selection of an electronic coupon from a database. Each electronic coupon in the database is associated with a sponsor's account and can be used to receive a discount on a purchase from a merchant, where the discount is debited from the sponsor's account and credited to the merchant's. From the database, the kiosk retrieves a rendering image corresponding to the rendering capabilities of the kiosk and a memory location to store the discount information, and the discount information. The discount information is written to the portable coupon device and it is dispensed. Finally, a hard copy of the rendering image is rendered.

Abstract: A system for providing instant rebates to a customer at a point of sale includes a kiosk by which the customer initiates a rebate process by presenting a machine readable document having rebate information generated by a retailer's POS system. The customer may initiate an electronic funds transfer to the customer's account for amount of the rebate due, or alternately receive a printed check or a store card with a credit balance redeemable at the point of sale. The kiosk may report rebates in real time and have additional functionality to assist manufacturers and retailers for other marketing purposes.
