Abstract: A telematics unit monitors location information and a vehicle information bus for diagnostic and other vehicle information and a request for services command initiated with hardware coupled to the telematics unit, remotely from another device, or automatically upon the occurrence of a vehicle trigger. The telematics unit composes a request message that includes vehicle location information and an indicator of a type of services requested, and transmits the message to a telematics server. The server performs a table lookup to find entries containing information of requested services available within a predetermined range of the vehicle. The server transmits a response message to the telematics unit, or other device, for presentation of the requested information. The response message may include a file containing promotional information relative to the service provider(s). The TCU may transmit a message that includes metrics relative to how a user played the promotional information file.

  • Publication number: 20100106603
Abstract: A system method and device for predicting navigational decision-making behavior is provided. The location of a device is used to generate the current location of the device, and a history of past locations of the device. A behavior predicting application predicts the route a drive is going to travel based on driver preferences, such as left-hand turns, avoidance of bridges, etc., as well as the preferred destinations and/or routes traveled in the past. The preferences of a particular driver can be learned by the system to be implemented in the behavior predicting application, or manually input by the driver. The system can employ GPS or other positioning technology to determine the location of the device. The device can be a standard GPS-enabled in-car device, or other portable device such as a cell phone or PDA.

Abstract: A method for presenting dynamic advertising comprises providing an advertising presentation device; regularly receiving electronic context data related to the advertising presentation device; on the basis of the context data, automatically generating context-based advertising; and causing the advertising presentation device to present the context-based advertising. The method is useful in particular for mobile advertising presentation devices, as it enables advertising to be dynamically generated based on regularly received context data such as presentation device location, date/time, user input at the advertising presentation device. Increased relevance of the advertisement to the observer is therefore provided.

  • Publication number: 20100023393
Abstract: A method for automatically creating personalized ads to target a specific individual. The method includes first identifying a potential customer who may be interested in a particular product. An automated process then learns about and understands the customer based on his location and how that person interacts with the particular medium on which the ad is going to be presented. Once the information about the customer is developed, an advertisement is created that includes a collection of ad components that identify parts of the ad that may be of interest to the customer based on the learned information. The ad components are selected from a database of available components. The advertisement is then scheduled and placed in the medium and its measure of effectiveness is determined based on the customer's reaction thereto. These measures of effectiveness are used to further refine parameters in understanding the customer and designing the ad.
