Abstract: The exemplary embodiments described herein relate to the field of electronic registration (ER) of purchased products and, more particularly, to an improved electronic registration system that enables unique item-level tracking from an initial point-of-sale (POS) transaction involving a post-paid service/subscription and related device or product, to any cancellations in service and returns to the store or service provider. Certain exemplary embodiments thus advantageously “close the gap” between retailers and service providers, e.g., in connection with subscriptions/post-paid service agreements and related devices or products. In certain exemplary embodiments, an “interest” may be taken and charged in the event that the customer does not return the device when or after an associated service has been cancelled.

Abstract: A point of sale system and method for consummating sales transactions and enabling sporting event betting. The point of sale system includes a cash register, an event server, and a customer interface. The cash register consummates point of sale transactions and accepts cash, credit and debit payments. The event server communicates with the cash register for communicating sporting event choices to the cash register. The customer interface communicates with the cash register and includes a display for displaying at least one of said sporting event choices to a customer. The customer interface includes an input module for enabling a customer to select at least one of said sporting event choices and for enabling a customer to place a wager on the selected sporting event choice. The system also includes a printer in communication with the cash register to print a transaction receipt including a description of the selected sporting event choice and the wager.

Abstract: A data transmission system includes first software running on a first physical digital medium ported to a point of sale (POS) computing appliance wherein the first software provides the capability of emulating at least one physical printer connected to the POS computing appliance, and second software running on a second physical digital medium accessible to a mobile computing appliance wherein the second software provides the capabilities of managing receipt of a record from the first physical digital medium via a wireless communication protocol and of independent processing of data contained within the record.

Abstract: When a customer places a special order that changes the content of a product or processing thereof (non-standard order information), a receipt printing processing method and system also produces a special order seal in connection with printing the sales receipt. The receipt printing processing system has a receipt printer and a label printer that is in communication with the receipt printer. When the system receives transaction processing data generated by a POS register used to take orders, a control unit determines if non-standard order information is contained in the transaction processing data. If so, the control unit controls the generation of seal printing data for printing a special order seal, along with controlling the processing of receipt data and the printing of the receipt.

Abstract: A point of sale (POS) system includes primary and auxiliary printers powered by a shared power supply. A POS terminal includes the shared power supply, a user interface, and a host including a printer driver for dynamically generating primary print commands. A printer connection card connected to the POS terminal includes a Universal Serial Bus (USB) hub in communication with the host and having at least one USB connector powered by the shared power supply. The primary printer is connected to the USB hub for receiving power and the primary print commands through the USB hub from the POS terminal. An auxiliary printer has a power-only connection to the printer connection card, receiving independently generated auxiliary print commands from a separate host computer. A controller includes control logic for selectively blocking the primary print commands to the primary printer in response to the signal drawn by the auxiliary printer exceeding a threshold.

Abstract: A retail terminal generates a digital receipt in the form of a two-dimensional barcode. The barcode encodes within it transaction details and ancillary information relating to purchases made by a customer in their receipted transaction. The barcode output in a form suitable for capture by a customer operated mobile device.

Abstract: An electronic registration system which facilitates authorized product returns and reduces the incidence of improper returns. A retailer sales associate is prompted to enter individual product identification information such as an individual serial number. This individual product identification information is then stored in a data base along with the date on which the product was sold and an appropriate UPC code, SKU number or manufacturer code. A check digit algorithm may be used to verify the serial number prior to storage. A sales receipt may be imprinted with at least the date of the transaction and the serial number. When a product is returned, the retailer may cross-reference the serial number on the product with that on the receipt to verify the sales receipt. Otherwise, the database may be searched for pertinent sales information.

Abstract: A method and system for providing laundry services makes use of a laundry station having an interactive point-of-sale device operably connected to one or more laundry unit containers for housing items to be laundered. The laundry station is used: to receive and accept orders for laundry services from a customer, including the collection of payment from the customer; to provide information directing the customer to place their laundry in a designated laundry unit container in response to the order received from the customer; to generate and communicate an electronic message to instruct a laundry station operator or laundry services provider to fulfill the order.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an activity information accounting system. The system includes a central processing unit 1 for interpreting and executing a program command to perform accounting and processing data, an input unit 2 for inputting activities and resources of a management organization, an auxiliary storage unit 3 for storing an accounting program to execute accounting and storing accounting results of the central processing unit 1 in specific file forms, an output unit 4 for displaying processing results of data by the accounting, an activity table 10 providing activity lists corresponding to the activities, a resources table 20 for, when any one of the activity lists is selected, providing a resources list matching the selected activity list, a table matching unit 30 for matching the selected activity list and its pertinent resources list, and an account title providing unit 50 providing a corresponding account title through matching of the table matching unit 30.

Abstract: A system is provided that includes a transaction engine running on a mobile device. In response to a financial transaction between a buyer and a seller, the transaction uses the mobile device to accept information selected including but not limited to information from financial transaction or information pertaining to financial transaction card used by the buyer in the transaction. At least a portion of this information is communicated with a third party financial institution or payment network to authorize the transaction. The buyer receives confirmation of the payment.

Abstract: A tap device is provided for mobile device payment at a point-of-sale (POS) terminal. The tap device monitors at least one communication line of the POS terminal and detects at least one data packet having transaction data. The tap device includes a trigger database having entries including pre-stored trigger data elements. A first processor compares the pre-stored trigger data elements with the transaction data. The tap device transmits the transaction data when at least a portion of the transaction data corresponds to at least one pre-selected trigger data element. The tap device includes a first receiver receiving a Quick Response (QR) code generated by a remote server in response to the transaction data. The QR code includes an encoding of the transaction data. The tap device includes a display displaying the QR code for image capture by a mobile device that decodes the captured QR code into the transaction data.

Abstract: To provide a means capable easily releasing twist of two or more guidewires passed through a guiding catheter without pulling out the guidewires. A twist releasing apparatus has a shaft, a first tube formed at the tip of the shaft and has a first lumen through which two or more guidewires can be passed, a second tube disposed through a gap at the tip side in the axis direction relative to the first tube and has a second lumen through the two or more guidewires can be passed, and a connection portion for connecting the first tube and the second tube so that the two or more guidewires can be passed through the first lumen and the second lumen. The second tube has a slit that is formed in an axis direction and can be elastically deformed. The connection portion can be elastically deformed into a curved shape in the axis direction.

Abstract: On receiving simplified settlement data generated form settlement data and ID data for downloading electronic-receipt data from an electronic-receipt server, both from a settlement-processing apparatus, a portable terminal records the simplified settlement data in association with the ID data. The display unit of the portable terminal displays the simplified settlement data thus recorded. The portable terminal downloads electronic-receipt data from the electronic-receipt server by using the ID data recorded in association with the simplified settlement data, when the input unit is operated, thereby commanding that the electronic receipt related to the simplified settlement data displayed by the display unit should be downloaded. The electronic-receipt data is recorded in the electronic-receipt recording unit. The display unit displays the electronic receipt on the basis the electronic-receipt data recorded in the electronic-receipt recording unit.

Abstract: A method for supporting anonymous transactions includes storing a first profile comprising first information associated with a first client. The first information includes identifying data and non-identifying data associated with the first client. The method also includes storing a second profile including second information associated with the first client. The second information includes at least a portion of the non-identifying data from the first profile. The method further includes receiving a request from the first client to engage in an anonymous transaction. The anonymous transaction is associated with a product. In addition, the method includes communicating an order for the product to one of the clients and facilitating completion of the order using the first profile. The second client can gain at least partial access to the second profile but not to the first profile associated with the first client.

Abstract: An accounting tool may be used to manage financial data for an organization. The accounting tool may support the closing of accounting periods for the finances of the organization. The accounting tool may be configured to receive a request to modify a transaction of a closed accounting period. The accounting tool may be configured to create a changed version of the transaction according to the modify request, and to maintain a previous version of the transaction that does not include the requested modification. A separate transaction may not be required, even though the modified transaction was initially recorded during a closed accounting period. In addition, the accounting tool may be configured to provide a plurality of views of the closed accounting period, e.g., a first view that comprises the previous version of the transaction, and another view that comprises the changed version.

Abstract: A system and method for disputing individual items that are the subject of a transaction includes storing, in a database, a record of a transaction in which a plurality of goods or services were sold to an individual that owns a transaction card through which access to monetary funds may be obtained, so that the transaction is identified by a transaction identifier. Also, information identifying each good or service that is a subject of the transaction is associated with said transaction identifier. A cost associated with one of the goods or services associated with the transaction identifier is disputed, without subjecting costs of all goods or services that are associated with said transaction identifier to dispute.

Abstract: Some embodiments include a method for processing information about products in a stream of commerce. The method can include recording unique identifiers in association with products; receiving, from a manufacturer of the products over a communications network, manufacturing information about the products; storing, in an electronic database, the manufacturing information in association with the unique identifiers; receiving, from entities in the stream of commerce over the communications network, additional information about the products; storing, in the electronic database, the additional information associated with the unique identifiers; receiving, over the communications network from retailers selling the products, consumer information identifying consumers of the products; and storing, in the electronic database, the consumer information in association with the unique identifiers.

Abstract: A prepaid payment card used to reload or credit a prepay account with prepaid service value carrying a unique identifier generated by a payment provider, the unique identifier being associated with prepaid transaction data capable of indicating designated service values and identified service providers, said card enabling purchasers to gift a prepaid payment card having any desired value and without requiring knowledge of the end user's service provider. Also disclosed are methods for using the prepaid payment card by funding the card at the point of sale or designating a prepaid service value at the moment the unique identifier is generated, so as to provide the benefits of the new prepaid payment card and to mimic the prior art products using the new method.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus and computer program products are provided for monitoring compliance in reporting unclaimed property. The method is capable of identifying both potential non-reporters and potential under-reporters. In this regard, potential under-reporters may be identified as a result of a multilevel review that may take into account the recent reporting history, both in terms of frequency and the type and quantity of unclaimed property that has been reported. The potential non-reporters and potential under-reporters may then be further evaluated, such as by means of an audit or other follow up procedure, to insure compliance.

Abstract: A biotransaction system. In an example embodiment, the biotransaction system includes a bio scanner that provides a first signal as output; a first device at a first location; and machine-readable instructions adapted to trigger transfer of data from a second location to a third location in response to receipt of the first signal by the first device. In a more specific example embodiment, the first location and the third location represent similar geographic locations. The first device is included in the bio scanner. The second device is positioned at the second location. A third device is positioned at the third location. The machine-readable instructions are adapted to facilitate transfer of the data from the second device to the third device.

Abstract: Visually presenting spending behavior, spending patterns, and spending activity to a consumer across of their all receipt based purchase transactions. Receipt data is received at a first or host computer from respective transaction processing devices or host systems of respective merchants, or received from self-service action of the consumer, and identifies respective goods or services purchased by the consumer. A user interface is displayed to the consumer and comprises a thumbnail arrangement of discrete objects, each of which represents respective receipts generated by respective transaction or transaction processing devices. A discrete object may comprise data of one or multiple goods or services and includes category indicators that visually inform the consumer about the type of good or service. Embodiments may also involve requesting receipt data utilizing a mobile communication device, searching receipt data collected by the computer and responding to the request with requested receipt data.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a POS terminal includes a printer, a display, a screen display section, a selection operation input section, and an issue section. The printer prints and issues a receipt related to a commodity transaction. The display displays information. The screen display section displays, on the display, a selection screen for selecting an information item to be printed on the receipt. The selection-operation input section selects, according to selection operation in the selection screen displayed by the screen display section, the information item to be printed on the receipt. The issue section issues a receipt on which the information item selected by the selection-operation input section is printed and an information item not selected by the selection-operation input section is not printed.

Abstract: A loyalty network enables customers to use their mobile devices to participate in a merchant's customer loyalty program. When a customer conducts a transaction, the merchant's point-of-sale (POS) system generates a code image containing transaction information. The POS system may print the code image on a transaction record (such as a bill or receipt) provided to the customer, and/or may display the code image on a display screen. The customer can then photograph/scan the code image with their mobile device, which sends the transaction information and authentication information to a loyalty program server. The loyalty program server may use this information to credit the customer's loyalty program account, and may, in some cases, interact with the POS system to enable loyalty program credits to be redeemed. In some embodiments, the transaction information may alternatively be conveyed to the mobile device using Near Field Communications.

Abstract: A Green Receipt Dispenser is a transitional technology that allows a merchant to incorporate paperless receipting functionality into an existing POS system without upgrading or modification to existing software, and without security risk to the merchant or customer. Print traffic is parsed by a processor, the print data is intercepted and converted to an electronic form, and an electronic receipt is provided to the user.

Abstract: The various embodiments herein provide a method and system for providing electronic transaction on a Near-Sound Communication Point-of-Sale (NSC_POS) device through a cell phone of a payer. The method comprises of dialling a central server number by a payer through a registered cell phone, arranging the cell phone in the vicinity of the NSC_POS device, broadcasting a sound signal by the central server to the NSC_POS device through the speaker of the cell phone, receiving the sound signal by the microphone of the NSC_POS device, transmitting the received sound signal back to the central server in an encrypted form through the microphone of the cell phone, decoding the received sound signal by the central server. The central server transfers the required amount from the payer's mobile virtual account to a virtual account associated with the NSC_POS device based on information provided in the sound signal.

Abstract: When a customer places a special order that changes the content of a product, a receipt printing processing system also produces a special order seal when the sales receipt is printed. The receipt printing processing system has a receipt printer and a label printer that is in communication with the receipt printer. When the receipt printer receives transaction processing data generated by a POS register used to take orders, the receipt printer prints a receipt, determines if special order information is contained in the transaction processing data, and generates seal printing data for printing a special order seal, if the special order information is contained in the transaction processing data. The receipt printer also sends the seal printing data to the label printer for printing a special order seal. Because the receipt printer generates the seal printing data, special order seals can be printed without modifying the application program run by the POS register.

Abstract: A system and method for managing a parking lot where different parking spaces have associated logical attributes that determine pricing for using that space. Typical attributes are “Last Space”, “One of Last Spaces” or “Safe Space”. Other non-premium spaces can simply have an attribute of “Ordinary” or the like. As ordinary spaces are used up, motorists may become motivated to pay higher fees to park in the last remaining spaces or premium spaces. Also, safe spaces that provide additional protection for a vehicle may go at a premium price. The present invention works at both gated and ungated lots. With an ungated lot, a ticket can be printed displaying the fact that the vehicle has paid a premium (or ordinary) rate. With a gated lot, some of the spaces can be further gated as premium or discount spaces that go at a corresponding higher or lower price.

Abstract: A system and method for maintaining budget related transactions in a financial management system. A financial management system may include a general ledger to maintain account balances and a budgetary ledger to maintain account balances only for budget related transactions. The budgetary ledger may generate a budgetary ledger document, which contains budget related transactions. The budgetary ledger may further include a core to enable generation of the budgetary ledger document, and an extension to define rules associated with generation of the budgetary ledger document. The budgetary ledger may then post the budgetary ledger document to the general ledger.

Abstract: One embodiment of the invention is directed to a method comprising receiving an authorization request message for a transaction conducted by a consumer with a merchant, sending the authorization request message to an issuer, receiving an authorization response message, modifying the authorization response message using a server computer to include receipt preference data, wherein the receipt preference data is derived from receipt preferences of the consumer or the merchant, and sending the authorization response message comprising the receipt preference data to the merchant, wherein the merchant generates a receipt for the consumer according to the receipt preference data.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide tactile assistance to a consumer completing a transaction at a point of sale terminal. A tactile overlay, either permanent or removable, couples with a consumer interface such as a touch screen of the point of sale terminal. The tactile overlay includes one or more overlay inputs that provide a distinct tactile impression in comparison with the remainder of the overlay. For example, the overlay inputs can be depressions, apertures, protrusions, dimples, or the like, or provide a different texture such as a rougher or smoother texture than the surrounding overlay. The overlay inputs are configured to correspond with underlying touch screen inputs such that the consumer using the tactile overlay can discern the proper location on the touch screen for providing the desired input.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for routing data. A device is provided that includes a first data port configured to be coupled to a printer port of a point of sale system, a second data port configured to be coupled to a remote system, an optional third data port configured to be coupled to a printer, and a computing device configured to receive, via the first data port, printer control codes and receipt data from the point of sale system printer port, transmit at least a portion of the receipt data to the remote system, and optionally transmit at least a portion of the printer control codes and receipt data to the printer.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and system for generating a comprehensive undeliverable-as-addressed database and receiving mailing lists which may be analyzed to determine confirmed undeliverable-as-addressed records within a mailing list. Items of mail found to be undeliverable subsequent to mailing may be received at one or more processing locations, and consolidated into a single clearinghouse. The names and address of the intended recipient may be retrieved through scanning of the address via an optical character recognition software system or manually entered and may be stored in a consolidated database of confirmed undeliverable as addressed mail. Prior to mailing marketing materials, a mailing list may be compared with the consolidated database of confirmed undeliverable-as-addressed mail to determine confirmed undeliverable-as-addressed records. The undeliverable-as-addressed records may be flagged or alternatively removed from the mailing list.

Abstract: The invention is generally directed to a method of managing the activation and use of a specific merchandise, facilitated between at least a retailer that sells the specific merchandise, a customer that purchases the specific merchandise, and a central processor that authorizes activation and use of the specific merchandise. The server comprises a processor and a computer readable medium coupled to the processor. The computer readable medium comprises computer readable program code embodied therein. Abstract: A system and method for providing digital receipts for purchase transactions are provided. The method includes the steps receiving information for a first credit card account for executing a transaction; retrieving a first customer record from a database using information from the first credit card account; charging an amount of the transaction to the first credit card account; and transmitting a receipt to a predetermined location of the customer. The predetermined location may be an e-mail address of the customer or a server residing on the network. By receiving digital receipts, a customer or end-user will be able to digitally store these receipts and view or print the receipts out when necessary. Furthermore, the customer will be able to manage the receipts with conventional software packages.

Abstract: A system and method for managing electronic receipts of sales transactions utilizes a receipt capture device that generates receipt data using information from a point-of-sales (POS) terminal and a mobile device that receives the receipt data from the receipt capture device using short range communication.

Abstract: Systems and methods to integrate point of sale processing, online order processing, and supply chain and store management over the Internet. In one aspect, a central server provides point of sale, online order processing, and supply chain and store management functions via browser based interfaces. The system enables users to enter orders from remote locations for order fulfillment at brick and mortar retail locations, where the POS terminals configured based on the browser based interfaces can be changed into a self service mode to allow customers to place orders for themselves at the retail locations.

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for facilitating international return of dutiable goods. A typical application involves a purchaser buying goods on-line, resulting in shipping the goods internationally to the purchaser. After receipt of the goods, the purchaser determines that return of the goods is necessary. The purchaser contacts the merchant selling the goods to request returning the goods. The merchant, in turn, communicates to the carrier delivering the goods that an international return is requested. The merchant provides certain information to the carrier allowing the carrier to make available the necessary documentation required by the customer to return the goods to the merchant. The documentation includes a properly completed commercial invoice that is made available to the consignee. The consignee can then sign and use the documentation for returning the item. The documentation may be variously provided to the customer either by the merchant or the carrier.

Abstract: A system for and method of ordering from a concession during an event is presented. The system and method may include receiving customer data associated with a customer during an event ticket purchase transaction, associating the customer data with customer seating data that indicates a location of the customer's seating during an event, providing menu data to a customer system that is associated with the customer, and receiving, from the customer system, order data that indicates a concession order from the customer via a network.

Abstract: A system and method of processing an order comprises receiving an order for desired items, and calculating a collective physical parameter(s) of the items such as a total weight of the items, a total volume of the items and/or a total number of cases of the items. The calculated collective physical parameter(s) is compared with a predetermined threshold(s) reflecting a physical capacity or capability of one standard full carrier. The processing of the order is stopped if the collective physical parameter exceeds the threshold.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, an article sales data processing apparatus includes a list display control unit, a selection unit, an editing acceptance unit, and an update unit. The list display control unit causes a list of articles sold in one transaction to be displayed in the details area. The selection unit accepts selection of an article, of the articles displayed in the details area. The editing acceptance unit causes the display unit to display an editing screen for the sales data of the article selected by the selection unit, and accepts editing of the sales data. When the sales data displayed in the editing screen is edited, the update unit updates the sales data of the article selected by the selection unit, of the sales data of each article stored in the transaction storage unit, to the edited data.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for supporting supply chain facility performance analysis. Methods include maintaining supply chain facility configuration information for a plurality of supply chain facilities. The method also includes identifying variables that are attributed to performance of the supply chain facilities. Data corresponding to one or more of the variables for selected supply chain facilities in the plurality of supply chain facilities is collected. Performance analysis is performed for the selected supply chain facilities using the data as input. The performance analysis includes executing a data envelope analysis (DEA) based three-stage performance analysis model, executing a statistical analysis and executing a sensitivity analysis. The results of the performance analysis are output. The results include a performance ranking of the selected supply chain facilities, a prescription for performance improvement, a correlation analysis, and a sensitivity analysis.

Abstract: A print system allowing a user to obtain a transaction statement in a safe and easy manner is provided. For this purpose, a print system includes: a banking terminal; and a digital multi-function peripheral performing data communication with a Web server having transaction statement data and PIN code stored in association with each other, through an external network and an in-store network. The banking terminal is adapted to include an operation panel receiving a request from a user for an output of a transaction statement, and a PIN code generating unit and a receipt issuing unit for generating and outputting a PIN code in response to the received request. The digital multi-function peripheral is adapted to include an operation panel receiving the PIN code input by a user operation, a control unit obtaining transaction statement data corresponding to the received PIN code from the Web server, and a printer unit outputting a transaction statement based on the obtained transaction statement data.
