  • Patent number: 11416945
Abstract: Instances of claim data are received by an apparatus. Each instance of claim data corresponds to an entity. A claim vector is generated for each instance of claim data. The claim vector is added to a group of claim vectors that all correspond to a same entity. Each group of claim vectors is aggregated to generate an entity vector corresponding to the entity. Based at least in part on the entity vector and (a) an entity profile corresponding to the corresponding entity or (b) an entity cluster with which the entity is associated, at least one behavior signal value is determined for the entity. A behavior signal is amended to include the behavior signal value. The behavior signal comprises at least two behavior signal values. Each of the behavior signal values are associated with a different time period. The behavior signal is provided for display via an interactive user interface and/or further processing.

  • Patent number: 11379929
Abstract: System, method and media for the provision of relevant information, tax regulations and other advice for the preparation of the return to the user of the tax preparation system. This can be done by developing a profile of the taxpayer as the user moves through the process of preparing the tax return. When a user views a tip or help article, the impact on the outcome of the return is noted. If the impact is a positive one, then the tip or help article may be automatically presented to future users with similar taxpayer profiles. In this way, users can maximize the benefit of the return for the taxpayer while increasing the accuracy of the prepared return.

  • Patent number: 11295396
Abstract: An intermediate computer hosts a tax return preparation application and generates an interview screen presented to a preparer through a display of the preparer computing device executing a browser. In response, the preparer acquires images of tax documents to begin preparation of an electronic tax return, e.g., by sequentially taking photographs of tax documents using a camera of a mobile communication device, which transmits the images or results of image processing such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to the intermediate computer. The intermediate computer, as necessary, performs OCR processing and automatically populates a plurality of electronic tax forms with the first electronic tax data and the second electronic tax data. The electronic tax return may be completed by tax document imaging and manual corrections to OCR results as necessary, in contrast to traditional tax return preparation applications structured according to a pre-determined and programmed sequence of interview screens.
