Usage Protection Of Distributed Data Files Patents (Class 705/51)
  • Patent number: 10313725
Abstract: A video on demand system in the context of the Internet, for video rentals. A user accesses an on-line store to rent a video program or movie. The rental is for a limited time (such as 30 days) and within that thirty days, the video program or movie can only be viewed for a 24 hour time window. The time limits are enforced by the on-line store which maintains a database of each rental transaction and allows supply of the needed keys for decrypting the (encrypted) video or movie only if within the time limits.

Abstract: A data governance method comprises the following steps. Data elements from data assets associated with an enterprise are obtained. One or more of the data elements are identified as one or more critical data elements based on a level of criticality computed for each of the one or more data elements. In illustrative embodiments, the level of criticality is based on one or more of: a cardinality computed for the one or more data elements; a business relevance criterion computed for the one or more data elements; and an indirect cross-data lake correlation criterion computed for the one or more data elements.

  • Patent number: 10296382
Abstract: Earliest deadline first (EDF) scheduling algorithm is the most celebrated result for dynamic priority scheduling in real-time systems for both preemptive and non-preemptive cases. From complexity point of view, EDF is polynomial for preemptive scheduling of tasks. However, it becomes pseudo-polynomial under non-preemptive case. Described herein is a technique that determines EDF feasibility of non-preemptive task set by analyzing schedulability of the lowest priority task at common scheduling points generated by all higher priority tasks in the task set. The adjustment results in improving the computational cost of an existing test from O(n2 pn/p1) to O(pn/p1), where n is the number of tasks in the system, while pn and p1 represent the task periods of largest and smallest periodic tasks respectively. With reduced computation cost, the described method of analyzing feasibility can be intergraded with online systems for testing feasibility of a special class of real-time systems under non-preemptive case.

Abstract: A method for distributing content. The method distributes a single media storage structure to a device (e.g., a computer, portable player, etc.). The media storage structure includes first and second pieces of encrypted content. Based on whether the device is allowed to access the first piece of content, the second piece of content, or both, the method provides the device with a set of keys for decrypting the pieces of the content that the device is able to access. The provided set of keys might include one or more keys for decrypting only one of the two encrypted pieces of content. Alternatively, it might include one or more keys for decrypting both encrypted pieces of content. For instance, the selected set of keys might include a first key for decrypting the first encrypted piece and a second key for decrypting the second encrypted piece.

  • Patent number: 10298703
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention address delivery of content, including advertising, in an online or networked digital environment. Undesirable content or content that needs to be removed from the digital environment may be eliminated through invocation of a ‘kill switch’ that terminates further delivery of the aforementioned content. The ‘kill switch’ may also eliminate certain instantiations of that content already delivered to end-user client devices. In order to lessen the need for termination of content following delivery to the digital environment, content developers and content providers may view content scheduled for delivery in digital environment ‘mock ups’ prior to actual delivery. Content developers and content providers, too, may control certain attributes related to content scheduled for delivery to further obviate post-delivery termination or modification.

Abstract: Systems and methods facilitating removal of content from audio files are described. A method includes identifying a sound recording in a first audio file, identifying a reference file having at least a defined level of similarity to the sound recording, and processing the first audio file to remove the sound recording and generate a second audio file. In some embodiments, winner-take-all coding and Hough transforms are employed for determining alignment and rate adjustment of the reference file in the first audio file. After alignment, the reference file is filtered in the frequency domain to increase similarity between the reference file and the sound recording. The frequency domain representation (FR) of the filtered version is subtracted from the FR first audio and the result converted to a time representation of the second audio file. In some embodiments, spectral subtraction is also performed to generate a further improved second audio file.
