Abstract: Object search techniques for digital images are described. In the techniques described herein, semantic features are extracted on a per-object basis form a digital image. This supports location of objects within digital images and is not limited to semantic features of an entirety of the digital image as involved in conventional image similarity search techniques. This may be combined with indications a location of the object globally with respect to the digital image through use of a global segmentation mask, use of a local segmentation mask to capture post and characteristics of the object itself, and so on.

Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to screening candidate profile, and more particularly to system and method for screening candidate profile. In one embodiment, the method includes dividing a candidate profile into a plurality of subset-profiles having subset-profile information of attributes of the candidate profile. The subset-profile information is mapped with target-profile information of a plurality of targets to identify a set of targets capable of screening the subset-profile information. Queries are provisioned to the set of targets for performing screening, and responses to queries are received from therefrom. An aggregated weightage associated with the responses is computed based at least on an extent of matching of the responses and a confidence score associated with each target of the set of targets. The aggregated weightage is compared with a threshold value of weightage to identify the subset-profile information as one of a valid information and an invalid information.

Abstract: A research system, method and device directed to providing a query results tree of logical dependencies in response to one or more user queries. Specifically, the research system includes a searcher module, an inference module, a front-end module and an updater module. A user query is received by the front-end module and forwarded to the searcher and inference modules, which in addition to obtaining related results from one or more databases, filter and structure the results such that only highly relevant results are returned and that those results are already organized into one or more hierarchical structures for navigation by the user. In addition, the updater module is able to periodically cause any new data on the databases to be inputted by the search and inference modules and added to the existing results in order to maintain a fully updated results structure.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a program that identifies an entity having an entity attribute. The program receives, from each method of several methods, a set of candidate identity attributes that are each for identifying a particular entity having the entity attribute specified in the document. Each method of the several methods generates the corresponding set of candidate identity attributes based on the entity attribute specified in a document. The program calculates a score for each candidate identity attribute in the sets of candidate identity attributes. The program identifies, based on the sets of scores, an identity attribute from the sets of candidate identity attributes that identifies the entity having the entity attribute specified in the document.

Abstract: Techniques for providing semantic search of a data store are disclosed. A similarity metric of a document comprising the data store to a concept represented in a semantic model derived at least in part from a reference source that includes content not included in the data store is determined. A relevance metric of a search query to the concept is computed. The similarity metric and the relevance metric are used to determine, at least in part, a ranking of the document with respect to the search query.

  • Patent number: 8751498
Abstract: A system and method for disambiguating references to entities in a document. In one embodiment, an iterative process is used to disambiguate references to entities in documents. An initial model is used to identify documents referring to an entity based on features contained in those documents. The occurrence of various features in these documents is measured. From the number occurrences of features in these documents, a second model is constructed. The second model is used to identify documents referring to the entity based on features contained in the documents. The process can be repeated, iteratively identifying documents referring to the entity and improving subsequent models based on those identifications. Additional features of the entity can be extracted from documents identified as referring to the entity.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for controlling metadata associated with content on an electronic device that includes displaying interface screens for user entry of metadata control instructions, accepting user instructions, modifying metadata of applicable content, and associating the modified metadata with the applicable content. The system can export and/or store the applicable content along with modified metadata. The system can automatically modify metadata according to one or more profiles. Relevant profiles can be determined based on the export mechanism, destination or type of content. The system can add watermarks to indicate metadata modification. The system can display metadata for user modification. The content can include photos, videos or other content. The system can display metadata and geolocation indicators for each content item that indicate whether that item has associated metadata and geolocation information. The user can selectively modify metadata of selected content.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for classifying resources using scores from multiple classifiers. In general, one aspect of the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in methods that include the actions of receiving identifying a collection of documents to classify; receiving a plurality of classifiers for scoring a document with respect to a specified property; for each document in the collection, applying each of the plurality of classifiers, each classifier generating a score associated with a likelihood that the document has the specified property, combining the scores from each classifier including applying a multiple classifier model that uses monotonic regression to combine the plurality of classifiers, and classifying the document as having the specified property based on the combined score.

  • Patent number: 8706724
Abstract: A feature extraction device obtains a partial feature vector having the precision required for the partial document. The feature extraction device searches a document tree, and detects elements as search elements. The device calculates an inter-element distance between an extraction target element within elements of the document tree and the search element. The device refers to an exclusive element name and generates exclusivity information indicating, for the extraction target element, whether the search element is the exclusive element. The device calculates, based on an inter-element distance and the exclusivity information, a weight for a word included in the element, and relates and calculates, for each search element, based on weights, an element feature vector having each of dimensions that uniquely corresponds to a word. The device calculates based on the element feature vector, a partial document feature vector of a partial document related to the extracted target element.

Abstract: Techniques for associating concepts found within content items rendered by electronic devices. By associating concepts in this manner, a user of an electronic device is able to view how these concepts interrelate with one another across various content items stored on or accessible by the electronic device. For instance, a user may associate a first concept with a second concept in an index of the electronic device. Thereafter, the user may conduct a search for the first concept and, in response, the electronic device may reference the index and determine that this first concept is in fact associated with the second concept. As such, the electronic device may return results that include both the first and second concepts, possibly within a certain specified distance of one another within a content item. The user is therefore able to see how the first concept and the second concept interrelate with one another.
