Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and methods for conducting remote business transactions between a client and an entrepreneur that include generating records including video verification of some or all aspects of the remote business transaction. According to one aspect of the system, the client sends a plurality of items to the recipient. Upon reception of these items, the recipient creates an inventory of the items, including video verification of the inventory. Such video verification is included in a stored electronic record of the remote business transaction. Via any suitable telecommunications network, this electronic record, including the video verification of the transmitted inventory, is accessible by the client.

Abstract: A method and a system are provided for recognizing a disc. In one example, the system receives a disc, such as, for example, a Blu-ray Disc. The disc includes a content certificate and data files. The content certificate includes a unique text file that certifies the disc complies with predetermined disc parameters. The data files are the actual audio and/or video content on the disc. The system reads the content certificate or reads the data related to the data files. The system generates a hash value by applying a hash function to the content certificate or to the data related to the data files. The hash value is a unique identifier for the disc.

Abstract: There are provided a storage device and a computer-readable medium capable of efficiently storing keywords contained in description information and efficiently retrieving the keyword. A list producing portion (6) extracts the keywords from the description information and produces a keyword list correlating the keywords with the scene information containing the keywords. A description information converter (8) converts the keywords contained in the keyword list received from the list producing portion (6) among the keywords contained in the externally received description information into reference information for specifying the keywords in the keyword list received from the list producing portion (6). A storage (10) stores the converted description information provided from the description information converter (8) and the keyword list provided from the list producing portion (6).

Abstract: Systems and methods for casting calls are provided. A casting call is generated based on information provided by an individual (e.g., a casting call manager). The casting call may indicate a particular video clip and designates a recipient for submissions related to the casting call. A user interested in participating in the casting call may submit a query. In response to the query, the user is provided with access to the video clip for modification. Such a modification may involve incorporating a recording of a performance into the video clip. As a result, the modified video clip may be generated whereby the user becomes the “actor” in the modified video clip. The modified video clip may be evaluated for compliance with any parameters set by the creator of the casting call and then submitted to the designated recipient.

Abstract: The present principles provide methods and apparatus for preventing data corruption on a storage device by integrating a journaling file system with a cache system. To ensure journal accuracy with respect to data that is most likely to affect file system integrity, a method in accordance with an aspect of the present principles includes bypassing the cache when writing such data to a main platter of a storage device. Furthermore, to ensure overall efficiency in reading and writing data, a method in accordance with an aspect of the present principles includes writing to a cache, in addition to writing to the platter, data that has a relatively less damaging effect on file system integrity. Thus, aspects of the present principles optimally integrate a cache system with a journaling file system to provide both a robust file system integrity and an efficient reading and writing mechanism.

A search component is configured to enable a search of the index of the extensible indexing and search tool according to at least one of the set of attributes of the person.

Abstract: A computer includes an application system, a storage device and a basic input output system (BIOS). The application system can be respectively coupled to the storage device and the BIOS, set at least a multimedia file as a preset playing file according to an input instruction and store the preset playing file into the storage device. The application system can further generate a log file according to the input instruction and the storage position of the preset playing file, wherein the log file is sent to the BIOS. The BIOS has a file access module, so that the BIOS can acquire the preset playing file from the storage device according to the log file for playing during booting the computer.

As a result, the most relevant and salient (of clearest and largest presence) visual appearances depicted in the videos are presented to the user, both for the sake of summarizing the video content for the users to “see before they watch” (that is, judge by the depicted video content in a filmstrip-like summary whether they want to mouse-click on the video and actually spend time watching it), as well as for allowing to users to further refine their video search result set according to the most relevant and salient video content returned (e.g. largest screen-time faces).

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and computer-readable media for transmedia video bookmarks, the method comprising receiving a first place marker and a second place marker for a segment of video media, extracting metadata from the video media between the first and second place markers, normalizing the extracted metadata, storing the normalized metadata, first place marker, and second place marker as a video bookmark, and retrieving the media represented by the video bookmark upon request from a user. One aspect further aggregates video bookmarks from multiple sources and refines the first place marker and second place marker based on the aggregated video bookmarks. Metadata can be extracted by analyzing text or audio annotations. Another aspect of normalizing the extracted metadata includes generating a video thumbnail representing the video media between the first place marker and the second place marker. Multiple video bookmarks may be searchable by metadata or by the video thumbnail visually.

Abstract: Methods of displaying video data are disclosed. The methods generate a plurality of queries for determining from which of a plurality of video data sources video data is to be displayed and store each of the queries. One of the queries is selected for display and the selected query is matched with metadata from one or more of the plurality of video data sources. Abstract: A system, computer program product and method are disclosed for sending advertising data to an end user device. The system includes but is not limited to a processor in data communication with a computer readable medium; and a computer program embedded in the computer readable medium, the computer program comprising instructions to monitor video data for advertising key data, instructions to monitor end user data exchanged between end user devices for the advertising key data, instructions to receive data from an end user device indicating a product selected from a selected data segment in the video data and instructions to send advertising data relating to key data in the selected data segment to the end user device. Abstract: This invention is a system and method that enables video viewers to search for information about objects or events shown or mentioned in a video through a search engine. The system integrates search capability into interactive videos seamlessly. When viewers of such a video want to search for information about something they see on the screen, they can click on it to trigger a search request. Upon receiving a search request, the system will automatically use an appropriate search term to query a search engine. The search results will be displayed as an overlay on the screen or in a separate window. Targeted ads that are relevant to the search term are delivered and displayed alongside search results. The system also allows viewers to initiate a search using voice commands. Further, the system resolves ambiguity by allowing viewers to select one of multiple searchable items when necessary.

Abstract: A method for processing video data involves receiving data from a series of images and analyzing the data to identify geometric forms. The forms are stored as metadata of a first data level and are linked by time stamps to the images in which the forms were identified. The metadata from an image and the previous image are compared, and delta metadata is generated from the difference. Delta metadata is also marked with time stamps. Metadata and delta metadata are analyzed, and objects are extracted from the geometric forms. The objects are stored as time-stamped metadata and delta metadata of a second data level. The process is repeated for higher data levels. A user inputs a database query to identify from among the stored input images that particular image sequence in which the extracted object is recorded. Queries started at higher data levels are quicker but less accurate.

Abstract: A “Keyframe Stitcher” provides an efficient technique for building mosaic panoramic images by registering or aligning video frames to construct a mosaic panoramic representation. Matching of image pairs is performed by extracting feature points from every image frame and matching those points between image pairs. Further, the Keyframe Stitcher preserves accuracy of image stitching when matching image pairs by utilizing ordering information inherent in the video. The cost of searching for matches between image frames is reduced by identifying “keyframes” based on computed image-to-image overlap. Keyframes are then matched to all other keyframes, but intermediate image frames are only matched to temporally neighboring keyframes and neighboring intermediate frames to construct a “match structure.” Image orientations are then estimated from this match structure and used to construct the mosaic.

Abstract: Briefly, the present invention provides electronic methods and apparatus for storing and organizing access restricted multimedia objects. This is accomplished using semantic networks by interactively defining a semantic network, identifying a relationship between nodes by associating a label with each semantic link, attaching multimedia objects to nodes and restricting user access to multimedia objects and/or the semantic network. The method allows users to access and edit the semantic network in a Java-based platform-independent software environment. The present invention further provides a method for multiple users to collaboratively store and organize multimedia objects by providing a shared view via a network while defining the semantic network, identifying the relationship between nodes, and attaching multimedia objects to nodes.

Moreover, because the specific portion of content can be extracted and the extracted specific portion can be displayed and edited, all file formats can be controlled irrespective of file format.

Abstract: Described is fast motion estimation based upon epipolar geometry, which can be used in compressing multi-view video. An epipolar line is computed based on a point (e.g., a centroid point) in a macroblock to be predicted, and a temporary starting point in an image is determined, such as a median predicted search center. A search starting point is further determined based on the temporary starting point and the epipolar line, e.g., a point on the epipolar line corresponding to an intersecting line that is projected orthogonally from the temporary point to the epipolar line. A motion estimation mechanism searches the search space to produce a motion vector. The search may be conducted starting at the search starting point in a reduced search area located around the epipolar line, e.g., a local diamond search and/or rotated unsymmetrical rood-pattern search.
