  • Patent number: 7969414
Abstract: The present invention discloses a mobile communication apparatus that includes a first casing and a second casing. The first casing has an opening and an operating interface disposed around the opening of a side of the first casing. The second casing has two display screens disposed separately on two corresponding surfaces thereof, and each display screen separately corresponds to a different program module of the mobile communication apparatus. The second casing is pivotally disposed in the opening, such that the second casing can be spun in the opening. If the second casing is turned over to expose a display screen with the operating interface, the mobile communication apparatus then initiates the program module corresponding to the screen display, and the screen display shows messages outputted by the program module.

Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate automatically generating interleaved addresses during turbo decoding. An efficient recursive technique can be employed in which layers of nested loops enable the computation of a polynomial and a modular function given interleaved parameters “a” and “b” from a look up table. With the recursive technique, interleaved addresses can be generated, one interleaved address per clock cycle which can maintain turbo decoding performance.

  • Patent number: 6928300
Abstract: A preferences option maintains preferences for enabling and disabling notifications for device(s) of an electronic device. The notifications are for any of e-mails, phone calls, or other communications, or events (datebook alarms, for example). One or more devices may produce notifications, and individual preferences for each device may be maintained, or a single set of notifications preferences may direct the output of notifications for each device. The notifications preferences includes a schedule option that allows a time period where the notifications may be specifically enabled or disabled automatically. In one embodiment, the notifications preferences control notifications only, and in other embodiments, the notification preferences control notifications and whether or not the devices themselves are enabled or operating (for example, turning a cell phone device off).

  • Publication number: 20040063461
Abstract: A method consisting of the application of several novel algorithms to reduce contention and loss rates at remote (downstream) nodes Labeled Optical Burst Switched (LOBS), Optical Burst Switched (OBS), Optical Packet Switched (OPS) or other networks having buffer memory at an ingress nodes and optionally having buffer memory, FDLs or other signal delay devices at intermediate (downstream) nodes. Contention and loss are reduced by delaying locally assembled bursts beyond the pre-determined offset time using the electronic memory available at the ingress nodes, or delaying transit bursts using fiber delay lines (FDLs) even though there is no contention without using FDLs at all or a smaller delay is sufficient to avoid contention at this intermediate node. Compared to existing algorithms that address contention locally (or reactively), the proposed algorithms significantly reduce the burst loss rate.

  • Publication number: 20020065859
Abstract: According to one aspect of the invention, estimation of symbols related to each other by a parity relationship previously created by an encoder, is effected by a function having several components effecting a calculation of probabilities corresponding to a state of the encoder. The probabilities are of a first type, resulting from the observation of the effects of the previous states of the encoder on the current state, of a second type, resulting from the observation of the effects of the subsequent states of the encoder on the current state, and of a third type, representing the belonging of a symbol to a predetermined part of an encoding alphabet. A specific multiplexer is controlled by a state machine and cooperates with a calculator so that not only the probabilities of the first and second types but also the probabilities of the third type are obtained by one and the same circuit.

Abstract: A system and method for accessing, controlling and monitoring a data processing device in which a video raster signal from the data processing device is analyzed to determine the information displayed on a video display monitor attached to the data processing device is used. The video raster signal is converted to a digital form and a cyclic redundancy check is performed on the digital data to determine the information contained in the video raster signal and to generate a compressed representation of that information. The information may then easily and quickly be transmitted to a remote location for analysis and review. Additionally, commands from the remote location can be transmitted to the system to control the data processing device.
