Multiple Network Interconnecting Patents (Class 709/249)
  • Patent number: 9438557
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method and network device for adaptive DHCP assignment with VLAN pool. Specifically, a network device can assign a client device to a first Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN). The network device then detects a first DHCP Discover message, transmitted by a client device, corresponding to a first VLAN. Also, the network device determines that no DHCP offer message, responsive to the first DHCP Discover message, is transmitted to the client device. Then, the network device transmits on behalf of the client device a second DHCP Discover message for the second VLAN to a DHCP server, and receives a DHCP Offer message in response to the second DHCP Discover message. The network device then assigns the client device to a second VLAN, and subsequently transmits the DHCP Offer message for the second VLAN to the client device.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for detecting and identifying host devices in a network. At a switch device, a packet is received from a server that is interfaced with a switch device and is configured to host a virtual machine that is a source of the packet. A Media Access Control (MAC) address or an Internet Protocol (IP) address is identified. The MAC address and IP address are associated with the virtual machine. In response to identifying the MAC or IP addresses, the switch device determines whether a binding between the IP and MAC addresses of the virtual machine is present in a database of addresses accessible by the switch device. If the association is not present, based on the fields obtained from the packet header, a request message is sent to the virtual machine to resolve the association between the IP address and the MAC address of the virtual machine.

Abstract: Instances of router models and filter models respectively are populated with configuration data from routers and filters in a network. A route advertising graph is derived from the router model instances. The route advertising graph indicates propagation of routes between the ones of the real-world devices serving as routers according to routing protocols implemented by the ones of the real-world devices serving as routers. Consolidated routing data is determined for the ones of the real-world devices serving as routers. In this process, the propagation of routes indicated by the route advertising graph is iterated to stability. For a destination node in the network, a respective route graph indicating available paths to the destination node from each source node in the network is constructed from the consolidated routing data. Services between each source node and the destination node are classified based on a full traversal of the route advertising graph.

  • Patent number: 9092274
Abstract: An approach is provided in which a hardware accelerated bridge executing on a network adapter receives an ingress data packet. The data packet includes a destination MAC address that corresponds to a virtual machine, which interfaces to a software bridge executing on a hypervisor. The hardware accelerated bridge identifies a software bridge table entry that includes the destination MAC address and a virtual function identifier, which identifies a virtual function corresponding to the software bridge. In turn, the hardware accelerated bridge sends the data packet from the hardware accelerated bridge to the software bridge through the identified virtual function.

  • Patent number: 9069633
Abstract: A method for offloading includes a host channel adapter (HCA) receiving a first work request identifying a queue pair (QP), making a first determination that the QP is a proxy QP, and offloading the first work request to a proxy central processing unit (CPU) based on the first determination and based on the first work request satisfying a filter criterion. The HCA further receives a second work request identifying the QP, processes the second work request without offloading based on the QP being a proxy QP and based on the first work request failing to satisfy the filter criterion. The HCA redirects a first completion for the first work request and a second completion for the second work request to the proxy CPU based on the first determination. The proxy CPU processes the first completion and the second completion in order.

  • Patent number: 9043473
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are presented that allow a wireless communication device (WCD) to use multiple access identifiers (NAIs) in conjunction with a communication session between the WCD and a home agent. The home agent may maintain a binding that reflects the state of the session. Accordingly, the binding may contain a home IP address (HOA) as well as a first NAI. The home agent may then receive a registration request message containing the HOA and a second NAI. In order to avoid potential hijacking attacks from entities other than the WCD, the home agent may, in conjunction with an authentication server, attempt to validate that that first NAI and second NAI are both associated with the WCD. If this is the case, the home agent may update the binding to reflect that the second NAI is associated with the session, and the home agent may maintain the session so that the WCD does not suffer an appreciable interruption in service.

  • Patent number: 9042297
Abstract: A first node receives information associated with a mobile station to allow for establishment of a session for the mobile station that is attached to a first wireless access network in a first service domain. In response to the received information, the first node sends messaging to a home agent in a second service domain that is of a different type than the first service domain. The first node receives, from the home agent, an Internet Protocol (IP) address allocated to the mobile station in the second service domain, where the IP address is allocated in response to the messaging, and where services provided to the mobile station are anchored in the second service domain.

  • Patent number: 9043449
Abstract: An example method transmits a path message to an egress node, via intermediate nodes, that configures OAM monitoring of an entire connection between an ingress node and the egress node and also configures OAM monitoring of at least one segment of the connection shorter than the entire connection by at least one intermediate node. The path message comprises a LSP attributes object and an ERO. The LSP object comprises technology-specific attributes defining descriptors for configuring the egress node in accordance with a communication protocol utilized for the connection; and technology-independent OAM parameters that, irrespective of the communication protocol, define an OAM type to be used by the egress node, and define desired monitoring actions for the egress node to perform. The ERO comprises a respective HOP Attributes sub-object for configuring each of the at least one intermediate nodes.

  • Patent number: 9037658
Abstract: Users of a social networking system can tag other users in content items that are provided outside of the social networking system, such as pictures that are viewable on a website that is external to the social networking system. To enable a user to tag another user in a content item, an external system provides a user interface that enables the user to tag another user, optionally define a portion of the content item in which the tagged user appears, and provide an identity of the tagged user. The external system communicates with the social networking system to provide the tagging information to the social networking system. The tagging information is received by the social networking system, which imports the content item and displays the content item with the tagging information to other users in the social networking system.

Abstract: A virtual network is dynamically created when constructing a relay communication system including a plurality of relay servers that are arranged to communicate with each other. In the relay communication system, the VLAN client terminals defining a VLAN group are allowed to share VLAN group information. In addition, a VLAN session between VLAN devices as activatable VLAN client terminals is established based on the VLAN group information, and the VLAN devices are allowed to share virtual address information created when the VLAN group is activated. If the VLAN device defining the activated VLAN group is suspended, suspension of the VLAN device is notified, and a VLAN device about which the suspension has been notified is deleted from the virtual address information. The VLAN session related to the VLAN device about which the suspension has been notified is closed.

  • Patent number: 9026680
Abstract: A communication function between ports on a node that does not require a common time base to be distributed across the network is disclosed. A data stream received over a first port is placed on an interface between nodes using the time base of the first port; a second port samples the data stream on the interface and timestamps it using the time base of the second port. The data stream is timestamped by the second port and packetized before transmitted to the second node to another bridge or device. Alternatively, the first port extracts a time stamp from the data stream and calculates an offset using a cycle timer value from the bus connected to the first port. The offset is added to the cycle timer value on the bus connected to the second port and used to timestamp the data stream.
