  • Patent number: 11966323
Abstract: System calls can be used to troubleshoot problems with software services. For example, a system can receive tracing data indicating system calls executed by a group of software services. The system can analyze parameters of the system calls described in the tracing data to identify relationships between the system calls. The system can determine a sequence of system calls between a predefined starting event and a predefined ending event based on the relationships between the system calls. The system can then generate an output to a user indicating the sequence of system calls. The output can be used by the user to troubleshoot a problem associated with executing the plurality of software services.

Abstract: A method detects soft failures as follows. A set of artifacts being generated by at least one process in a system is monitored. A number of artifacts being generated by the process is determined to be below a given threshold in response to the monitoring. The process is monitored in response to the determination. A current state of the process is determined in response to the analyzing. A notification is generated in response to the current state of the process including a set of abnormal behaviors.

Abstract: Methods and arrangements for detecting and diagnosing system outages. A system outage is ascertained and aberrant user activities are categorized, as possible contributors to the system outage, based on system impact. User activities and system impact are learned, and user activities and system impact are compared against predetermined rules. A system outage alert is generated, and a user activity responsible for the system outage is displayed.

Abstract: A system and method of various SoC design verification techniques. A model of an SoC design is simulated in an emulator, and the emulator is connected to a debugger. Scripts are conveyed from a host computer to the debugger. The debugger translates the commands in the scripts from a first language into commands in a second language. The debugger then conveys the commands in the second language to the emulator. The debugger is also configured to utilize the same scripts to perform tests on an actual SoC on a development board.

Abstract: A method begins by a dispersed storage (DS) processing module selecting two or more correlated error messages of a plurality of error messages. The method continues with the DS processing module identifying two or more collection of records corresponding to the selected two or more correlated error messages such that a collection of records includes an event record including information regarding an event, a first record including information regarding a dispersed storage (DS) processing module processing an event request to produce a plurality of sub-event requests, and a plurality of records including information regarding a plurality of DS units processing the plurality of sub-event requests. The method continues with the DS processing module identifying a correlation cause of one or more errors corresponding to the two or more correlated error messages based on the two or more collections of records.

Abstract: Coverage analysis may be performed using reverse time. The coverage analysis may be based on last hit data. The last hit data may comprise a timestamp indicating a last time in which a coverage event was covered. Utilizing last hit data instead of first hit data as is known in the art enables distinction between coverage goals that were never covered and coverage goals that were not covered lately.

Abstract: An automated support system includes a database of statistics used to calculate and store the solution ratings. The database is connected to a decision-making module that selects appropriate solutions. A known computer operation-related problem is stored in the database. The problem is represented by a set of parameters of a user computer system. Any given set of parameters defines a problem existing on the user(s) computer system. A solution formed by the solution adding module is represented by a special file. The selected solution is automatically executed on the user computer system and operation-related problem is solved. The effective solution is assigned rating stored in the solution database.

The array controller may be configured to read/write data to/from a drive array in response to one or more input/output requests. The frame buffer may be implemented within the array controller and may be configured to perform (i) a first data integrity check to determine a first type of data error and (ii) a second data integrity check to determine a second type of data error. The frame buffer may log occurrences of the first type of error and the second type of error in a field transmitted with the data. The field may be used to determine a source of possible corruption of the data.

The method analyzes an error type to obtain a rank number of the memory module from one or more specified registers of the memory controller, and finds a serial number of a memory slot into which the memory module has been inserted. According to the serial number of the memory slot and a distribution list, the method can detect the memory slot which is carrying the memory module.
