Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting annotation digital ink strokes and further associating annotation digital ink strokes with word digital ink strokes are presented. Ink strokes are captured on a writing surface and then classified as words or annotations. Annotations are then anchored to corresponding words. When words are relocated or edited on the writing surface, the anchored annotations are also relocated and may even be reshaped according to the changes in the anchored words.

Abstract: Techniques for dynamically selecting example passages to output on an electronic device in response to a user selecting a word or other portion of a content item are described herein. In one example, a user selects a word from a rendered electronic book. In response, the device outputs an entry for the word from a reference work (e.g., a definition from a dictionary, etc.). In addition, the device outputs passages that include the word from other electronic books stored on the device. These passages are more likely to be recognized and appreciated by the user than generic passages, since the dynamically-selected passages are found in electronic books that the user has previously acquired and potentially previously read.

Abstract: Provided are a video display device and a method of controlling the same. The method includes: obtaining an uncompressed audio-visual (AV) content; playing the uncompressed AV content through the display unit; obtaining content information of the uncompressed AV content on the basis of a content section of the uncompressed AV content; obtaining content change time information and enhanced service information on the basis of the content information; and determining a delay time for obtaining the next content information on the basis of the content change time information.

Abstract: A complex video event classification, search and retrieval system can generate a semantic representation of a video or of segments within the video, based on one or more complex events that are depicted in the video, without the need for manual tagging. The system can use the semantic representations to, among other things, provide enhanced video search and retrieval capabilities.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus comprising that includes a reproduction unit to reproduce video content comprising a plurality of frames; a memory to store a table including object identification information identifying an object image, and frame identification information identifying a frame of the plurality of frames that includes the object image; and a processor to extract the frame including the object image from the video content and generate display data of a reduced image corresponding to the frame for display.

Abstract: Voice stream augmented note taking may be provided. An audio stream associated with at least one speaker may be recorded and converted into text chunks. A text entry may be received from a user, such as in an electronic document. The text entry may be compared to the text chunks to identify matches, and the matching text chunks may be displayed to the user for selection.

Abstract: Techniques for providing feed-based case management on an online social network. A user interface that includes a publisher and an information feed is provided. Information associated with a record is received and the record is updated in a database system. A feed item associated with the database system update is generated and provided in the information feed. The feed item includes one or more actionable selections providing a reference to the publisher. Selection of one of the one or more actionable selections causes the publisher to be operable to receive further information associated with the record. The record is capable of being updated based on the further information. In some implementations, the record is a case and the user interface serves as a single interface for all interactions required in solving the case.

Abstract: An organic light emitting display device includes: a display panel; a timing controller configured to receive image data when a vertical sync signal is activated, to receive reference data corresponding to the image data when the vertical sync signal is deactivated, and to generate an emission control signal in accordance with emission duty information of the reference data; and an emission driver configured to supply first and second emission powers to the display panel, and to control a duration of a period during which a potential difference between the first and second emission powers is greater than or equal to a reference value in accordance with the emission control signal.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a system that facilitates use of an auto-completion system. During operation, the system receives an input text string entered by a user. The system determines a set of text strings, wherein each of the text strings in the set can replace the input text string entered by the user. Next, the system calculates a commercial intent score for each text string in the set. Following this, the system selects a replacement text string from the set of text strings based on commercial intent scores computed for each text string in the set. Finally, the system displays the selected replacement text string in the place of the input text string to the user.

Abstract: A platform allows experts, for example home improvement professionals, to upload their portfolios, i.e. content such as photos, videos, text, and sound, to a publicly available resource, such as a Web browser accessible, network based commerce system. Users may then browse the content, for example by room, style, and metro area. The content is arranged in collections that are in part passively sorted, based upon user relevance. Tags are shown on objects, for example within photos, for which there is more information. In the case of a movable display device, the tags can simulate the physics of real tags, for example they can move back and forth when the device is shaken. In another embodiment, a snap point is set to impart either a scrolling transition or a step transition between display pages, based upon user scroll activity.

Abstract: A method and system for conditioning a media stream for splicing are disclosed. In an embodiment, content-specific splice points, which correspond to a possible playout splice point within an original media stream, are identified for both audio and video components of the original media stream. Once the audio bitstream and video bitstream splice points are identified, the audio bitstream in the vicinity of the audio bitstream splice point is packetized into IP packets containing only audio with one of the audio-containing IP packets having an IP packet boundary that corresponds to the audio bitstream splice point and the video bitstream in the vicinity of the video bitstream splice point is packetized into IP packets containing only video with one of the video-containing IP packets having an IP packet boundary that corresponds to the video bitstream splice point. The conditioned original media stream is then transmitted downstream to a splicer.

Abstract: Implementations of the present disclosure include methods for annotating an enterprise service that is electronically stored in an enterprise service repository. In some implementations, methods include generating one or more graphs based on one or more artifacts, the one or more artifacts resulting from a development process of the enterprise service, generating one or more metadata repositories based on the one or more artifacts, each metadata repository comprising instance data corresponding to one of the one or more graphs, storing the one or more graphs and the one or more metadata repositories to a knowledge base provided in a computer-readable medium, determining one or more annotations based on the one or more graphs and the one or more metadata repositories, associating the one or more annotations to the enterprise service, and storing the one or more annotations in the enterprise service repository.

Abstract: Techniques for generating automated tags for a video file are described. The method includes receiving one or more manually generated tags associated with a video file, based at least in part on the one or more manually entered tags, determining a preliminary category for the video file, and based on the preliminary category, generating a targeted transcript of the video file, wherein the targeted transcript includes a plurality of words. The method further includes generating an ontology of the plurality of words based on the targeted transcript, ranking the plurality of words in the ontology based on a plurality of scoring factors, and based on the ranking of the plurality of words, generating one or more automated tags associated with the video file.

Abstract: A method for communication includes establishing communication links over a packet network between a server and plurality of client computers that are to participate in a video teleconference. The server receives from the client computers uplink audio packets and uplink video packets, which respectively contain audio and video data captured by each of the client computers. The server mixes the audio data from the uplink audio packets so as to create respective streams of mixed audio data for transmission to the client computers and transmits to the client computers downlink audio packets containing the respective streams of mixed audio data. The server relays the video data to the client computers in downlink video packets. The client computers receive and synchronize the video data with the mixed audio data.

Abstract: A reference character is generated by combining part objects prepared for each site. At least one candidate character object is generated by changing at least one part object among the part objects used in the reference character object. The reference character object and the candidate character object are displayed by a display device, and an input for selection from a user is accepted. Next, a site for which different part objects are used between the selected character object and the reference character object is determined. A new character object is generated by changing the part object used for the determined site with priority. The selected character object is displayed as the reference character, and the newly generated character is displayed as the candidate character.

Abstract: Provided are a video display device and a method of controlling the same. The method includes: obtaining an uncompressed audio-visual (AV) content; playing the uncompressed AV content through the display unit; obtaining content information of the uncompressed AV content on the basis of a content section of the uncompressed AV content; obtaining content change time information and enhanced service information on the basis of the content information; and determining a delay time for obtaining the next content information on the basis of the content change time information.

Abstract: A system to apply persona styles to written communications. The system includes a communication analyzer and a modification engine coupled to the communication analyzer. The communication analyzer identifies an element of original content of a written communication and determines that the element of the original content of the written communication is incompatible with a selected persona style. The selected persona style defines a communication style. The modification engine modifies the original content of the written communication to replace the element of the original content with a substitute element that is compatible with the selected persona style.

Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatus are described herein that include receiving a partial query entered into a search field on a computing device, and data indicating a document presented on the computing device during entry of the partial query. The presented document has been edited by a user of the computing device. Search results are then obtained which identify respective lists of search results documents for corresponding candidate query completions in a set obtained for the partial query. Similarity scores are then calculated for candidate query completions based at least in part on a similarity between content in the displayed document and content in search result documents in the corresponding lists. One or more candidate query completions in the set are then selected as refined query completions for the partial query based at least in part on the similarity scores and provided for presentation by the computing device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for enhancing multimedia experience are disclosed. A system includes a multimedia device adapted to obtain a multimedia data stream comprising multimedia data and at least one multimedia enhancement data sequence, and adapted to obtain instructions from a multimedia enhancement data sequence. The system further includes auxiliary devices communicatively coupled to the multimedia device, and adapted to receive the instructions from a multimedia device. The multimedia enhancement data sequences each include a start section, a target section, an instruction section, and an end section. A multimedia device is adapted to send instructions to at least one auxiliary device. A method includes obtaining a multimedia data stream comprising multimedia data and at least one multimedia enhancement data sequence using a multimedia device, obtaining instructions from a multimedia enhancement data sequence, and sending instructions to auxiliary devices communicatively coupled to the multimedia device.

Abstract: A technique for processing data in a network is disclosed. In one particular exemplary embodiment, the technique may be realized as a method for processing data in a network having a plurality of network stations. The method comprises receiving a first representation of data at a first of the plurality of network stations, processing the first representation so as to generate a second representation of the data, and transmitting the second representation from the first network station to a second of the plurality of network stations for storage therein, wherein the second representation is stored at an address within the second network station. The method also comprises receiving the address at the first network station, and transmitting the address from the first network station to a third of the plurality of network stations for storage therein.

Abstract: An image review system presents an image to a reviewer and records reviewer feedback, including reviewer position indicators relating to portions of the image and reviewer commentary data, which can be audio, visual, textual, etc. The reviewer position indicators and reviewer commentary data each have a time component, corresponding to when the reviewer indicated a position on the image and when the reviewer provided the commentary, respectively. During playback, the viewer can select a subset of the image of interest and get a playback of the reviewer commentary data that corresponds to the times represented by the reviewer position indicators that fall within the selected subset of the image. The reviewer position indicators can be collectively indicated by a heat map that, when laid over the image, indicates which portions of the image are commented on and how much time is spent there.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to generate and use content-aware watermarks are disclosed herein. In a disclosed example method, media composition data is received and at least one word present in an audio track of the media composition data is selected. The word is then located in a watermark.

Abstract: Monitoring user activity on a mobile device is described. In one aspect, video content is received and played to a user of the mobile device. The monitoring activity detects an interruption of playback of the video content and determines an event associated with the interruption. The event is stored in the mobile device and communicated to a remote device.

Abstract: Various embodiments described herein facilitate multi-lingual communications. The systems and methods of some embodiments enable multi-lingual communications through different modes of communication including, for example, Internet-based chat, e-mail, text-based mobile phone communications, postings to online forums, postings to online social media services, and the like. Certain embodiments implement communication systems and methods that translate text between two or more languages. Users of the systems and methods may be incentivized to submit corrections for inaccurate or erroneous translations, and may receive a reward for these submissions. Systems and methods for assessing the accuracy of translations are described.

Furthermore, the processor creates one or more intermediate objects that incrementally reflect changes from the first object to the second object based at least in part on the one or more mapped transition functions where the one or more intermediate objects are configured to smooth the transition from the first object to the second object.

Abstract: According to an exemplary embodiment of this disclosure, a computer-implemented method includes capturing a plurality of images from a presentation. Each of the plurality of images is associated with a unique identifier. The unique identifiers are transmitted to one or more remote audience modules. The plurality of images are then transmitted to the audience modules. With a computer processor, a first image from the plurality of images is identified as a next active image. Indications are received from the one or more of the audience modules that the next active image has been received. The audience modules are instructed to update their displays from a current active image to the next active image, after the indications are received.

Abstract: According to an exemplary embodiment of this disclosure, a computer-implemented method includes capturing a plurality of images from a presentation. Each of the plurality of images is associated with a unique identifier. The unique identifiers are transmitted to one or more remote audience modules. The plurality of images are then transmitted to the audience modules. With a computer processor, a first image from the plurality of images is identified as a next active image. Indications are received from the one or more of the audience modules that the next active image has been received. The audience modules are instructed to update their displays from a current active image to the next active image, after the indications are received.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for providing access to a channel via an embedded web event channel player. In exemplary embodiments, an embeddable code associated with the channel is provided to a channel owner. Once embedded, the code will provide an instance of the channel player on a user's device that can access the channel. A list of events is aggregated and provided for the channel associated with the channel player. Upon a request by a user, an event from the list of events may be streamed to the channel player.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for sharing writing information are provided. In one example, the method includes receiving a request to display content from a user, obtaining writing information about the content and content synchronization information that is used to synchronize a location of the writing information with respect to the content, and synchronizing and displaying the writing information and the content based on the content synchronization information.

Abstract: An external system (e.g., a website) is associated with an event and includes an interface that allows users to interact with streams of content associated with a social networking system. The interface allows a user to provide posts about the event via the interface, where the posts are displayed in the interface and also in a social networking interface on social networking system in connection with the user and other users associated with that user. The user can view, via the interface on the external system, posts from all users that are provided via the interface (e.g., everyone watching the event), thereby increasing the likelihood that the posts are relevant to the event. The user can also view, via the interface, posts from users associated with the user via the social networking system (e.g., friends of the user), regardless of where those are posted.

Abstract: A method for displaying an idle screen, which is varied depending on a specific condition of a mobile communication terminal, for better graphic impressions. When the user of the mobile communication terminal travels between countries, and a border crossing is detected, a landmark image of a corresponding country is displayed on the idle screen. In addition, an animation effect is displayed on the idle screen so as to inform of the occurrence of the corresponding event. Accordingly, a novel graphic effect is provided to the user via a user interface having enhanced entertaining features.

Abstract: A system and methodology for collaborating. The system as illustrated is comprised of at least two computing appliances, each of the computing appliances for use by a respective user. Each of the computing appliances is comprised of a processor, memory, communications interface, input apparatus, and display apparatus. Each said display apparatus provides a respective display presentation of a common shared underlying image. The respective input apparatus is responsive to input by the respective user to provide annotation data representative of a display image of annotations associated with the respective user.

Abstract: A method for providing text to speech from digital content in an electronic device is described. Digital content including a plurality of words and a pronunciation database is received. Pronunciation instructions are determined for the word using the digital content. Audio or speech is played for the word using the pronunciation instructions. As a result, the method provides text to speech on the electronic device based on the digital content.

Abstract: A method for displaying electronic text and synchronizing the playback of a soundtrack for the electronic text. The soundtrack contains multiple audio regions configured for playback during corresponding text regions of the electronic text. Playback of the audio regions of the soundtrack over an audio output system is based on a reading position counter indicative of the user's estimate reading position, and which increments based on a user reading speed variable. The user reading speed variable is updated by processing eye tracking signals from an eye tracker to determine the user's reading scan rate.

Abstract: Disclosed is a management apparatus, which makes it possible to use an information viewing apparatus without considering the residual amount of the battery, provided therein. The apparatus includes: a plurality of slots to support a plurality of information viewing apparatuses, each of which is activated by an electric power fed from a battery provided therein and is to be inserted into each of the slots in a detachable manner; and a controlling section to control the plurality of information viewing apparatuses, respectively inserted into the slots. When a predetermined information viewing apparatus is inserted into one of the plurality of slots, the controlling section moves data stored in the predetermined information viewing apparatus to another information viewing apparatus, which is currently inserted into another one of the plurality of slots, depending on a residual amount of the battery provided in the predetermined information viewing apparatus.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed which facilitate identifying extra substantive material within a content item not included within corresponding companion content items. For example, extra substantive material may include commentary, interviews, or improvisation included within an audio book and not included within a corresponding electronic book. Specifically, an electronic marketplace is disclosed that may analyze two companion content items to determine similarities and differences between the content items. Thereafter, portions that differ between the content items may be further analyzed to determine whether these portions include extra substantive material. Also disclosed is an electronic marketplace for providing information regarding content items, including the existence of extra substantive material within a content item. In some instances, the electronic marketplace may be configured to provide samples of extra content within a content item to a user.

Also included is generating structures for storing, organizing, and managing dynamic objects for retrieval and presentation. A discussion group for collaborative participants is also provided. A time-based dynamic object within a plurality of stored dynamic objects is stored. Each dynamic objects comprises a plurality of predefined attribute fields. Requested dynamic objects are assembled in real time so that the requested dynamic objects are displayed on the basis of the start-time attribute field of each requested dynamic object.

Abstract: A solution is provided that allows a user to provide an alternate set of metadata for any number of data points within a report, while in a report design environment. They may lay down a grid on the work area and specify the data by placing the relevant dimensional metadata, extracted from the source, in the grid as row headings and column headings. The user may then select either a column or a row from the grid and upon doing so may be provided with a mechanism to define alternate metadata that can describe all data points that are in the column or row in the target system. This allows for a much more user-friendly environment in which to specify metadata mappings between internal sources and external sources.

Abstract: A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are provided. The mobile terminal includes a radio communication unit; a display displaying at least part of e-book contents; and a controller transmitting position information about the at least part of the e-book contents and a user's input relating to the at least part of the e-book contents to a server through the radio communication unit when acquiring the user's input. Accordingly, a user' input relating to part of the e-book contents can be transmitted to the server to share a user's opinion on the e-book contents.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes receiving from a web browser, by a server system via a network, an indication of dragging, by a user of the web browser, of an element displayed on a webpage displayed by the web browser, and dropping, by the user, of the element into a content area displayed on the webpage, the element selected from the group consisting of: a first content item displayed at a location on the webpage other than in the content area, and a graphical element displayed in association with the first content item. Responsively to the indication, the server system causes the web browser to display, in the content area, at least a portion of a set of one or more second content items related to the first content item. Abstract: A system is provided for widget to widget communication. The system includes a first device, a second device, and a communication server. The first device and/or the second device are a mobile device. The communication server provides a first widget to the first device and provides a second widget to the second device, wherein the first widget and the second widget are portable code that is installed and executed in a corresponding runtime environment without additional compilation. The first widget, when executed by the first device, communicates information that identifies content associated with the first widget and a state of the content via the first device to the communication server. The communication server communicates the information and the state to the second device. The second widget, when executed by the second device, presents at least some of the content based on the information and the state in coordination with the first widget presenting the content.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and computer program product for updating a user session in a terminal server environment. Transfer of display data corresponding to an updated user interface can occur via a memory shared between an agent server and an agent client in a terminal server environment. Access to the shared memory can be synchronized via token passing or other operation to prevent simultaneous access to the shared memory. Token sharing and synchronized input/output can be performed using FIFOs, sockets, files, semaphores and the like, allowing communications between the agent server and agent client communications to adapt to different operating system architecture.

Abstract: Audio data and video data are processed to determine one or more audible events and visual events, respectively. Contemporaneous presentation of the video data with audio data may be synchronized based at least in part on the audible events and the visual events. Audio processing functions, such as filtering, may be initiated for audio data based at least in part on the visual events.
