The gallery includes a graphical user interface that displays multiple images in the foreground and one image in the background. The foreground images represent content items. The background image is generated based on one of the foreground images. As the foreground images are scrolled, the background image changes.

Abstract: An apparatus including a first display configured to be able to display user content and to have an active display state in which said user content can be stably displayed via active powering of the display, and a second display configured to be able to display user content and to have a passive display state in which said user content can be stably displayed without active powering of the display. The apparatus is configured such that the first display is positioned to at least partially overlie and cover the second display to provide a covered region of the second display. The presentation program creates objects corresponding to the identified entities, and program presents the identified entities and/or the created objects via a user interface. The presentation program also can be configured to present one or more user interfaces via which a user selects entities and/or objects and specifies or controls animations of the selected entities or objects.

Abstract: Techniques for presenting a modal dialog box in a graphical user interface are described herein. According to one embodiment, a semi-transparent panel is displayed superimposed on a graphical user interface (GUI) page in response to a first user interaction with the GUI page. The GUI page provides a user interface for managing a virtualization system. A dialog box is then displayed on top of the semi-transparent panel, where the dialog box is to receive an input from the user. An alert is generated in response to a second user interaction with an area of the semi-transparent panel other than the dialog box, where the alert indicates that the second user interaction is invalid.

Abstract: A method of controlling an electronic device with a touch-sensitive display that has a graphical user interface (GUI) with a primary display and a translucent layer. The method includes displaying the primary display which contains the graphical objects for normal operation, while the primary display is being displayed, activating the translucent layer to display a control arrow arrangement, manipulating the control arrow arrangement to adjust a parameter associated with the GUI or the electronic device, and de-activating the translucent layer to cause the primary display to be displayed again.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing graphical user interfaces are described. Overlaid, information-bearing windows whose contents remain unchanged for a predetermined period of time become translucent. The translucency can be graduated so that, over time, if the window's contents remain unchanged, the window becomes more translucent. In addition to visual translucency, windows also have a manipulative translucent quality. Upon reaching a certain level of visual translucency, user input in the region of the window is interpreted as an operation on the underlying objects rather than the contents of the overlaying window.

Abstract: In setting, by using a format, a non-display region in image data obtained by an image reading unit, a format location information input unit writes in the image data, an image representing information on access to a format storage unit in an external apparatus where a format to be used has been stored. In displaying the image data, a format location information extraction unit extracts the format location information by extracting the image from the image data. A format obtaining unit obtains the format by accessing the format storage unit based on the information. An image modification unit uses the obtained format to modify the image data such that the designated region is displayed in an invisible manner.

Abstract: The invention discloses a system and method for integrating user interfaces (UI) within an application. The invention can be configured to display an UI of a second application within a first application in a manner that the user cannot identify that the second application's UI is displayed on top of a reference window within the first application. The invention can be configured to identify a reference window that is to be replaced by a replacement window of the second application, monitor the reference window, create the replacement window, and align the replacement window over top of the reference window.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for interacting simultaneously with multiple application programs are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes allowing a first application program to be associated with a second application program. The first and second application programs are responsive to inputs received via a user interface for interacting with respective user interface components associated with the first and second application programs. Further, an input is received via the user interface when the first application program has focus within the user interface. The received input is neither for interacting with the user interface components associated with the first application program nor the second application program.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses to display windows. In more than one embodiments of the invention, a window is closed automatically (e.g., after a timer expires, or when a condition or criterion is met, or a system input is received) without user input. In some examples, the window is translucent so that the portion of another window, when present, is visible under the window. In some examples, the image of the window is faded out before the window is closed and destroyed. In some examples, the window does not close in response to any input from a user input device. In some examples, the window is repositioned (or hidden) automatically when another translucent window is displayed. The degree of translucency, the speed for fading out, the discrete levels of translucency for fading out, the time to expire, and/or other parameters for controlling the display of the window may be set by the user or adjusted by the system (or application software programs) automatically according to system conditions or other criteria.

Abstract: Any issues associated with manufacture of a part are identified and highlighted on a part rendering. A software method and system then uses a visual change cue on the part rendering for communicating the manufacturability issues to the customer. The preferred visual change cue is a throbbing of the highlighting of the manufacturability issue, with the throbbing occurring in both color intensity and size. The part rendering depicts the part translucently, so throbbing manufacturability issues can be readily identified even if obscured behind a more-forward face of the part.

Abstract: An electronic device and a page navigation method thereof for facilitating navigation among pages are provided. Abstract: A region menu is used to easily access menu items. Generally, the region menu includes a number of regions with associated menus that are located close to an initial mouse position from where the region menu is evoked. Hovering over any of the regions of the region menu displays the menu item that is associated with the region. Additionally, hovering over a menu item within one of the regions of the displayed region menu may activate a live preview showing a projected result of what would occur should that menu item be selected. During a live preview, a portion of the region menu becomes translucent such that content beneath the menu becomes visible.

Abstract: Various embodiments enable visual elements or objects, such as two-dimensional raster images, to be packed into a bounding region, such as a rectangular bounding region, in a manner that reduces wasted space. In at least some embodiments, a two-dimensional object packing component attempts to fit individual objects into the bounding region. The two-dimensional object packing component utilizes a span list to keep track of available space by tracking spans within the bounding region. Spans can occur laterally-adjacent placed objects and/or adjacent a placed object's bottom edge. In one or more embodiments, the span list is sorted left-to-right, top-to-bottom.

The notifications are then arranged and/or located in a graphical display according to the assigned priorities, thus enabling a user to quickly glance at the display and determine how many items are pending, where items have originated from, and what urgency level is associated with respective items. Various shapes, locations, colors, and sounds are utilized in a variety of ergonomic configurations, some controlled by the invocation of a variety of filters and informational lenses to enable users to easily manage a plurality of information sources.

Abstract: Systems and methods for uploading documents to a document database by using an efficient drag and drop interface is provided. The drag and drop interface may include a persistent and movable drop box rendered on an operating system. The drop box may be preconfigured to interface with or access a document database to upload one or more documents. Furthermore, the drop box may be persistently available on a desktop of the operating system. For example, the drop box may be visible and accessible through any other interface, such as a web browser or email client, that may be rendered in the same pixel locations as the drop box. Accordingly, one or more objects may be dragged and dropped for upload to the document database from any other interface or from the desktop.

Abstract: Integrated profile simulation techniques for dynamic content are disclosed. In some embodiments, integrated profile simulation for dynamic content includes providing an authoring tool for developing web content that varies based on a user context, and provides for the following: receiving a request to change from a first user profile to a second user profile without requirement for input of user credentials associated with the second user profile, and wherein the currently selected user profile is displayed; dynamically refreshing web content based on the second user profile; and displaying the dynamically refreshed web content.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a presenter device participates in an online collaborative computing session, and a determination is made to whether application windows on the presenter device are shared or non-shared, where shared application windows have a viewable portion on a display of the presenter device that may be transmitted to one or more attendee devices of the online collaborative computing session. Each of the one or more non-shared application windows on the display of the presenter device may be grayed out, such as by covering the non-shared application windows with a semi-transparent window.

For each overlay item available for display in a current view, it is determined whether the available item has an item type currently selected for display. For each available item having a currently selected item type, the item is included for display in the current view and the type of the item is included for display in a legend. Overall ease of use of electronic displays can be improved and electronic flight box display screens can be de-cluttered.
