Abstract: A mobile terminal and a method of controlling the operation of the mobile terminal are provided. The method includes placing the mobile terminal in lock mode; if a multi-touch signal including first and second touch signals is detected from a display module, releasing the mobile terminal from the lock mode, the first and second touch signals being touch signals detected from first and second areas, respectively, on the display module; and entering an operating mode which is set to enter upon the touching of the second area. Therefore, it is possible to unlock the mobile terminal and then readily enter a predefined operating mode in response to a multi-touch input detected from certain areas on the display module.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing IM conversations is provided. In response to idle time and, preferably, read message status, particular current conversations are removed from a list of current conversations. The removed conversations may be moved to an archive which may be automatically maintained in response to size constraints. An archive interface is facilitated to review conversations, save all or portions thereof, delete, etc. The archived conversations are preferably associated with the contact for the conversation to show a history of conversations.

Abstract: Provided is an image forming system operable to provide a cloud printing service, the image forming system comprising: a transmitting device operable to transmit content by designating a target phone number; a cloud printing server operable to receive the target phone number and the content from the transmitting device; a receiving device assigned with the target phone number and operable to receive an upload notification of the content with respect to the target phone number from the cloud printing server; and an image forming device operable to print the content by receiving the content from the cloud printing server, wherein the cloud printing server transmits the content to the image forming device registered in the target phone number when the cloud printing service is requested for the content to the target phone number.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for event visualization and control performed by a software component executing on a processor, comprises: receiving as input one or more events currently executing on a computer, the one or more events comprising both applications and processes, and user-initiated background events performed by the applications and processes; displaying a graphical user interface (GUI) showing the one or more events along a percent completion timeline, and dynamically updating the GUI such that each of the one or more events move through the percent completion timeline as the one or more events process; and providing interface controls that enable a user to dynamically perform actions on the one or more events, wherein the actions include start, stop, delete, pause, and reorder.

Abstract: The different advantageous embodiments provide a computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer program product for generating a display of magnified information. A selection is received of an area of a chart on a display device to form a selected area through a user input device. Coordinates are identified for the selected area. A category assigned to the selected area is identified using the coordinates identified. Related areas of the chart are identified using the category identified. The selected area and the related areas are compiled to form display information and the display information is displayed on the display device having a selected size.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a software-based system, which may include a social networking website, implemented on a stand-alone computing device or over a network using computing devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to modifying the neurological structure or neurochemistry of a user of the system by improving mood, positivity level, or resilience level either over the Internet or on a stand-alone computing device so as to provide cognitive benefits to the user.

Abstract: Embedded devices, such as smart phones, can execute an application for performing a set of discrete tasks. To evaluate applications for security vulnerabilities, the application is executed and monitored. Part of this process involves the time-consuming process of performing or invoking the various user interface elements included in the application. An automated interaction system automatically, without human intervention, simulates various gestures that can be performed within each view of the application. The automated interaction system further identifies unactivated elements within subviews of the views and tracks its interactions to ensure that all of the identified UI elements within each view and subview are activated.

Abstract: A system and method of de-duplicating data using a graphical user interface application. The graphical user interface application represents a model of the selected data records in a data tree. The graphical user interface application processes a selected target data record and potential duplicates data records. Nodes representing the potential duplicate data records can be added to the target data record. Nodes representing the potential duplicate data records can also be dragged and dropped into a node of the target data record. Nodes from the target data record can also be removed from the target data record. Differences between data associated with multiple nodes can be graphically presented with the graphical user interface application when multiple nodes are selected. Changes made to the data tree in the graphical user interface are applied to data records stored in a database.

Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed that relate to providing feedback for a level of completion of a user gesture via a cursor displayed on a user interface. One disclosed embodiment provides a method comprising displaying a cursor having a visual property and moving a screen-space position of the cursor responsive to the user gesture. The method further comprises changing the visual property of the cursor in proportion to a level of completion of the user gesture. In this way, the level of completion of the user gesture may be presented to the user in a location to which the attention of the user is directed during performance of the gesture.

Abstract: A system includes a processor configured to cause a display to display a graphical visualization of an industrial system, detect a user input corresponding to an area of the display, perform a semantic zoom of the area of the display, and to display a first level of information based on a first level of the semantic zoom. The first level of information includes a data that was not previously displayed on the area of the display. The processor is configured to perform a semantic zoom of a graphical visualization of a graphical device during the first level of the semantic zoom. The processor is configured to cause the display to transition to a concurrent display of the graphical device and a second level of information during a second level of the semantic zoom.

Such time data is provided, for instance, in situations where an interruption has occurred during a messaging conversation. Time data can also be provided to a user on demand in certain circumstances.

Abstract: A method, computer program product, and computer system for dynamic webpage change animation. A computer system detects one or more items that are changed on a second version of a webpage relative to a first version of the webpage. The computer system determines an animation order based on user environment. And, on the first version of the webpage and a template for generating the second version of the webpage, the computer system animates changes of the one or more items, according to the animation order.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for a graphical user interface tool for system-wide topology and performance monitoring with per-partition views. A graphical user interface application presents a consolidated view of physical and logical information based on the received performance data. The mechanisms provide real-time performance and utilization information in a visual format relative to the physical components in a topographical layout. The user may drill down to lower levels to view more detailed performance and utilization information.

Abstract: Software receives a communication from a smart-television device. The communication includes a device identifier, which is unique, for the smart-television device and a geo-location associated with the smart-television device. The software causes the smart-television device to display a first view that includes a visual icon along with a message identifying a connected-television service. The software receives a request from a mobile device to connect to the connected-television service. The request results in transmission of a geo-position from the mobile device. Upon determining that the geo-position of the smart-television device is proximate to the geo-location of the mobile device, the software causes the mobile device to display a second view that includes the visual icon for the device identifier. The software receives a communication from the mobile device that indicates a match between the visual icons.

Abstract: The present application relates to a method for controlling a disinfection status of a heater and/or cooler for human body temperature control during extracorporeal circulation. The temperature control is conducted by use of a heat exchanger and a temperature control liquid circulating through the heat exchanger and the heater and/or cooler. The inventive method comprises using a long term disinfectant in the temperature control liquid, measuring and preferably recording the concentration of the disinfectant in the temperature control liquid and deducing a disinfectant status of the temperature control liquid from the measured concentration of the disinfectant in the temperature control liquid.

Abstract: An apparatus may include a processor and a device state management module. The device state management module may be operative on the processor to receive a trigger signal from a motion sensor in a remote control, to determine the device state of one or more controlled devices and send state management instructions to be transmitted to the one or more controlled devices. The state management instructions may control a set of initial default operations that comprises altering one or more device states in the one or more controlled devices. The apparatus may further include a memory that is arranged to store the determined device state of one or more controlled devices. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A touch screen that is capable of receiving touch inputs from a user includes a crossing navigation input that uses two directional input to move through content within different content groups. The touch screen includes a graphical user interface that is configured to display content on the touch screen such that similar content items are in a content group. Additionally, the graphical user interface is configured to receive, through the touch screen, a first input to access different content groups and a second input to access content within the same group. The first input includes a touch input in a first direction and the second input includes a touch input in a second direction.

Abstract: An imaging device includes: an imaging portion; a memory capable of storing images imaged by the imaging portion; a display portion; and a touch panel arranged to overlap with the display portion and capable of detecting a distance to an indicator. When the distance is equal to or less than a first distance and more than a second distance less than the first distance, the memory stores the images at predetermined time intervals. Then, when the distance becomes equal to or less than the second distance and equal to or more than 0, the display portion displays the image that is stored in the memory before the distance becomes equal to or less than the second distance and equal to or more than 0.

Abstract: In a method to unlock a touch screen of an electronic device, a press operation is received from the touch screen pressed by a user. The touch screen includes an unlocking interface. The method determines whether the press operation is within a press area of the unlocking interface. When the press operation is within the press area, the method further controls an indicator of the unlocking interface to move at a default speed, and locates a stop position of the indicator on the touch screen when the indicator stops moving. The method unlocks the touch screen when the stop position is within a predefined area of the unlocking interface.

Abstract: A method for performing a predefined function on a touch-based mobile device includes displaying a lock-screen image on the touch screen of the mobile device during a locked-state, wherein the lock-screen image comprises a plurality of image pieces; detecting an object on or near the touch screen at a first predefined location corresponding to a predefined image piece of the plurality of image pieces; moving the predefined image piece on the touch screen according to movement of the object; and performing a predefined function on the mobile device when the predefined image piece moves from the first predefined location to a second predefined location on the touch screen.

Abstract: A method for generating display data comprises detecting user input via an input interface. A processor is in communication with the input interface to generate display data comprising a display object for display by a display device. The display object is representative of an action that will subsequently be performed by the processor on continuation of the user input. The display data on the display device is output while the user input is being detected. Alternatively, the display object is caused to appear on the display device over time as the user input is being performed, wherein the rate at which the display object appears is different to the rate of performance of the user input. A device and executable computer program for performing the steps of the method is also provided.

Abstract: Example embodiments relate to provision of an online catalog of files. In example embodiments, a computing device may display an online catalog that identifies files available for download. The computing device may also output a corresponding user interface element for each file and set each user interface element to an initial state. Upon selection of a first file for download, the computing device may modify the user interface element for that file to a downloading state to indicate a status of the download while continuing to display the online catalog. Subsequently, upon selection of a second file for download, the computing device may modify the user interface element for the second file to the downloading state, such that the computing device may concurrently download multiple files.

Abstract: Some embodiments relate to providing an improved progress indicator in a graphical user interface. In addition to conveying a completion status of a task to a user, an improved progress indicator in some embodiments can convey additional information about the task to the user. For example, some embodiments can display a visual cue when a triviality threshold indicating that the task is “substantially complete” is met.

Abstract: In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for delivery of a sponsored content to a mobile communication facility user. In embodiments, a request may be received for a sponsored content from a publisher, and one or more content inventories may be searched for a content that is relevant to the request. Content may be selected for delivery to the publisher from one or more content inventory. The content may be selected based at least in part on a relevance between the content and the request. The content, and the content inventory from which the relevant content is chosen, may be selected based at least in part on a statistical weight relating to the amount of revenue a wireless operator may realize upon presentation of the content to a mobile communication facility.

Abstract: A portable terminal and a method for discovering wirelessly connectable devices are provided. The method includes requesting discovery of wirelessly connectable devices, discovering peripheral devices that are wirelessly connectable in at least one of a plurality of wireless communication schemes supported by the portable terminal, and displaying a list of the discovered devices. The method may discover and display peripheral devices capable of establishing a wireless communication connection in at least one of various wireless communication schemes supported by the portable terminal at one time to improve the convenience for a user. In addition, the method may display connectable wireless communication schemes together with a list of discovered devices to more easily establish a wireless communication connection in a desired scheme of the user.

Abstract: This disclosure concerns novel tools and techniques for distributing status information, including without limitation status information about commercial equipment. In some cases, a status monitoring device can be attached to, incorporated within, or otherwise placed in communication with a piece of commercial equipment. The status monitoring device can monitor the status of the equipment and communicate that status. Some of the discloses tools and techniques employ a social networking infrastructure to convey information (such as status information about a piece of equipment).

Abstract: A media type currently associated with a multiple media player device is determined by the multiple media player device. A current setting status associated with each of a set of adjustable options associated with the determined media type is determined. A set of option icons that each represents one of the set of adjustable options is identified. Each identified option icon is paired with the associated current setting status of each adjustable option. A menuing input is detected. An overlay user interface menu, including only one option icon and the associated current setting status pair, is displayed over full-screen content on a display. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

Abstract: An unlocking method and apparatus for an electronic appliance are disclosed. The method and apparatus may enable a user to unlock the electronic appliance by identifying a gesture and to invoke a function mapped to the gesture. An event alert is received and displayed on a user interface at a computer. In response to receiving the event alert, an irremovable countdown icon is automatically generated and displayed on the user interface. The irremovable countdown icon, which represents an amount of time remaining before the future event, cannot be removed from the user interface until after the future event has started.

Abstract: A method, a computer program product, a computer system and a method for supporting an application. Abstract: Automatic capture and population of task and list items in an electronic task or list surface via voice or audio input through an audio recording-capable mobile computing device is provided. A voice or audio task or list item may be captured for entry into a task application interface or into a list authoring surface interface for subsequent use as task items, reminders, “to do” items, list items, agenda items, work organization outlines, and the like. Captured voice or audio content may be transcribed locally or remotely, and transcribed content may be populated into a task or list authoring surface user interface that may be displayed on the capturing device (e.g., mobile telephone), or that may be stored remotely and subsequently displayed in association with a number of applications on a number of different computing devices.

Abstract: A method of tracking status and progress of a process is presented and described herein. The method provides a plurality of markers that can be visualized in three dimensions, where each of the plurality of markers represents a respective trackable event. The markers are arranged in a three-dimensional configuration that visually indicates current status of a plurality of trackable events corresponding to the plurality of markers, and the three-dimensional configuration is updated over time to visually indicate an updated status of the plurality of trackable events. The markers and the three-dimensional configuration may be realized using a tangible model or a virtual model that is generated and rendered on a display element.

Abstract: A system for navigating and visualizing the progression of selectably presentable video content includes a progress indicator module for dynamically displaying the progression status of video content paths made up of selectably presentable video content segments. The system further includes an interactive control module for facilitating navigation along the video content paths. The progression status may be graphically represented in the form of a tree structure having linked video content segments forming the content paths. The control module may be used to navigation the video within this tree structure.

Abstract: Techniques for operation chart rescaling are described. In at least some embodiments, an operations chart is provided that tracks various parameters for an operation. The operations chart can include visual indicia of operation parameters, such as an operation value indicator that indicates a current operation value. A progress indicator can also be included that provides a visual indication of operation progress. In response to a change in an operation value for the operations chart (e.g., a change in data rate), the operations chart can be rescaled to visually reflect the change in operation value. In at least some implementations, techniques are employed to smooth visual movement of chart elements during a rescaling operation.

The first viewport may comprise a first tab, a first coordinate, and a first attitude. A first object is rendered based on the first coordinate and the first attitude in a region. Next, the computer renders a second viewport comprising a second coordinate and a second attitude. The computer renders the second object in a computer display from a perspective distinct from the first viewport. In addition, the computer registers the avatar as associated with the second coordinate and second attitude in the virtual universe, wherein the first tab is a visual indication of movement history.

Abstract: An external system (e.g., a website) is associated with an event and includes an interface that allows users to interact with streams of content associated with a social networking system. The interface allows a user to provide posts about the event via the interface, where the posts are displayed in the interface and also in a social networking interface on social networking system in connection with the user and other users associated with that user. The user can view, via the interface on the external system, posts from all users that are provided via the interface (e.g., everyone watching the event), thereby increasing the likelihood that the posts are relevant to the event. The user can also view, via the interface, posts from users associated with the user via the social networking system (e.g., friends of the user), regardless of where those are posted.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for automatic visual preview of non-visual data. A visual preview of non-visual data is generated by obtaining the non-visual data; obtaining metadata describing one or more semantic data types in the obtained non-visual data; selecting one or more visual metaphors for the obtained non-visual data based on the metadata; and generating the visual preview of the non-visual data using the one or more selected visual metaphors. As used herein, non-visual data does not have an established automatic method for generating a preview of the non-visual data. A user can optionally interact with the visual preview.

Abstract: An acquisition unit acquires, via a communication unit, presence information including status information indicating the status of execution of an application from a separate information processing device. A status image generation unit refers to the status information and determines a display mode for presenting the status of execution of the application to a user. The status image generation unit determines a display mode of a mark to indicate whether the user can participate in a session of an application.
