Abstract: A system for generating a user interface described herein can include a processor to detect a type of the system based on hardware components residing within the system or coupled to the system and determine a user interface manager to execute based on the type of the system. The processor can also execute the user interface manager to generate a user interface for the system, wherein the type of the user interface manager comprises a plurality of rules to indicate a layout of the user interface.

Abstract: Scanner/scale configuration is performed without scanning a series of programming barcodes and performed when a terminal is in a transaction processing mode of operation. A single code scanned into the scanner, initiates a configuration tool on the terminal and causes a graphical user interface (GUI) window to be rendered on a display of the terminal on top of any transaction windows rendered on the display. The GUI window permits user-defined configuration of the scanner/scale. In an embodiment, the configuration tool also provides a clone code that represents a source scanner/scale's configuration settings, when the clone code is scanned into a target scanner, the source scanner/scale's configuration settings are cloned on the target scanner/scale.

Abstract: A method for displaying an application (APP) includes: when an APP is running at the terminal, an operation triggering display of the APP in form of a dynamic thumbnail window is received. When the operation is received, the dynamic thumbnail window corresponding to the APP is displayed. The APP is run in the dynamic thumbnail window.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments for of an auto-arranging wall in an augmented reality computing environment. An embodiment operates by receiving a selection of a first one of a plurality of images from a digital wall within an augmented reality computing environment. A resize command associated with the selected first image is detected. One or more commands to increase a size of the selected first image are detected. It is determined that the increased size of the image obstructs one or more of the plurality of images on the digital wall. A visibility of a second one of the plurality of images on the digital wall is modified prior to the obstruction. The size of the image is increase in accordance with the size increase.

Abstract: A method and system for enabling performance of a transaction. A first representation of a transaction policy, which depicts transaction policy options for fulfilling the transaction policy is displayed by a client computer. After a user selects a first transaction policy option, the client computer displays a second representation of the transaction policy, depicting at least one mechanism pertaining to the first transaction policy option for satisfying the requirements of the first transaction policy option. After the user selects a first mechanism, the client computer displays evidence options for each requirement of the first transaction policy option. After the user selects an evidence option for each requirement of the first transaction policy option, the client computer sends to a server transaction enablement information that includes evidence dictated by the selected evidence options to enable the server to perform the transaction.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for managing display elements such as GUI windows in a client device (e.g., consumer premises equipment in a cable network) running multiple related or unrelated applications. In one embodiment, an improved window management entity is provided within the device with which HAVi-compliant application(s) can interface in order to access display elements according to a priority structure or hierarchy. One or more privileged applications are designated and allowed to affect the priority structure, including requesting a new in-focus application to be placed atop the priority structure. The network operator can also optionally control the operation of the window manager remotely via a network agent. Improved client device and network configurations, as well as methods of operating these systems, are also disclosed.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention relate to an apparatus and method for adjusting a screen size in an electronic device. The electronic device comprises a touch screen and a processor, wherein the processor may perform control so as to: detect a touch input from a reference area set in at least a partial area of the touch screen; when it is detected that the touch input moves, activate a screen adjustment mode on the basis of a movement range of the touch input; when the touch input is maintained, adjust a screen size of the touch screen on the basis of the movement distance of the touch input; and when the touch input is released, set, as a screen size in the screen adjustment mode, the screen size at the time when the touch input is released. Other embodiments may also be possible.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provides for revealing a desktop in a window stack for a multi-screen device. The window stack can change based on the revealing of a desktop. The system can receive a gesture indicating an application with the desktop, which was previously created in the stack, is to be revealed on the display of the device. Upon receiving the gesture, the system determines that the desktop is to occupy substantially all of a composite display that spans substantially all of the two or more touch sensitive displays of the device. Then, the system can determine that the desktop is to be associated with the composite display and change a logic data structure associated with the desktop to describe the position of the desktop on the top of the window stack.

When accepting a predetermined gesture under a gesture acceptance control, the control unit allows the storage section to store window information indicating a size and a position of a window being displayed on the display section, creates an icon associated with a file being displayed in the window, and allows the display section to display the icon. An always-on-top module may provide an always-on-top user interface mode for a mobile application, wherein the always-on-top user interface mode presents at least one session of the mobile application in a user interface element that is always visible in a display of a mobile device. The always-one-top module may also receive an input for activating the always-on-top user interface mode for the mobile application. Further, the always-one-top module may render the user interface element for presenting the at least one session in the display of the mobile device.

Abstract: An integrated finding experience is a workflow configured to facilitate a search by a user for one or more items among many items (e.g., an inventory of items). An integrated finding experience machine may provide one or more user interfaces that support the workflow in presenting information differently as the user progresses through a search process (e.g., a finding experience) with respect to a database (e.g., storing information regarding one or more items). For example, the workflow may include various stages of a search process from defining a query, to refining the query, to visually scanning search results, to displaying details of one or more selected search results, to comparing selected search results to each other. Each stage may have a specialized user interface configured to facilitate one or more user activities pertinent to that stage.

Abstract: A display control system for a multi-layer display system including at least one multi-layer display unit. A multi-layer display unit includes multiple stacked or overlapped display layers each adapted to render display elements thereon for viewing through the uppermost display layer. The level of difficulty for a user to view an overlapped image differs depending on the color, brightness or type of images (for example text-on-text) being displayed and also the layer in which the image is being displayed and whether the image is currently active. At least any overlapping portion of display elements from different display layers are adjusted (automatically or by a user) in order to improve the viewing experience for a viewer. Types of adjustment possible include moving the images within their display layer or to an alternative display layer or altering their visual properties (such as color, brightness, contrast, etc.).

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include a primary access interface where messages are in an auxiliary interface area, where a user can see/hear the message without having to log in (that is, when they normally would have to have logged in to access the message). Included in various embodiments are types of messages output, emergency messages, advertising messages and conditions for outputting messages. Also provided is allowing for user input through an auxiliary interface triggering services or features normally requiring login (before they can be used). What is further provided is an application programming interface for independent or third party applications. The dictation application interface may include a full overlay mode option, where in response to selection of the full overlay mode option, the dictation application interface is automatically sized and positioned over the target application interface to fully cover a text area of the target application interface to appear as if the dictation application interface is part of the target application interface. In one example, the trusted interaction window is maintained to be the top most window when it is called by an application, for example, during an online transaction, or any other suitable action. The trusted interaction window may be generated via a browser, or operating system, or any other suitable application. As such, the trusted interaction window detects when another window is overlayed on top of it, such as a chromeless window, thereby preventing an unscrupulous party from tricking the user or obtaining sensitive information.

The auxiliary window manager may detect an attempt to display the mouse-enabled window, and, in response, may automatically display a second remote-enabled window in front of the first remote-enabled window. The second remote-enabled window may include an object that a user can select with a remote control to instruct the processing system to display the mouse-enabled window. The mobile device may monitor the specific application/features used and their frequency of use. The mobile device may determine other available applications/features that the user may be interested in using based upon the frequency of use of applications or features and information which indicates a likelihood of user interest in one application or feature based upon usage of another application or feature. Applications or features determined to be potentially of interest to the user may be presented to the user in the form of suggestions to be added to the user interface menu so that the user can elect to accept or rejection the suggestion to modify the menu.

Abstract: Some embodiments disclosed herein store a target application and a dictation application. The target application may be configured to receive input from a user. Abstract: Methods and systems enable mobile TV providers to select programs for broadcast based on viewer preference indications or votes. Information regarding candidate programs or content may be broadcast and displayed on mobile devices. A voting user interface may receive viewer preferences or votes and transmit vote information to the mobile TV broadcast network using a unicast network. Received voting information may be tallied to select a program or content for broadcast. Interim vote tallies may be broadcast to mobile devices until a voting session is terminated. Results of the voting session may be broadcasted followed by broadcast of the selected program.

Abstract: A system and method for an event driven virtual workspace are described. According to one example method, a trader can define a plurality of windows to be associated with a virtual workspace. Also, the trader could define one or more triggering events, the combination of which may be used to activate the virtual workspace. In such an embodiment, when the system detects the one or more triggers, the system can attempt to activate the virtual workspace. According to the example method, the trader may place a number of limiting conditions before any states of the currently displayed windows are modified such that the triggered virtual workspace could be displayed. If no limiting conditions are detected, the system can display the triggered virtual workspace.

Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for a configuration in which any user interface feature that would otherwise have been hidden while the user is interacting with the rest of the web page are made available at the top of the web page. If the user scrolls up to the top of the page the bar will disappear again to make the entire browser window available for page content and not conflict with the top user interface elements.

Abstract: A computer-human interface provides a mechanism to manage the available space of a computer display in a manner that facilitates navigation among multiple windows that are overlaid upon one another. The interface includes a user-selectable mode in which the windows are rearranged, and resized if necessary, so that all open windows can be simultaneously viewed within the area of the display, thereby enabling any one of the windows to be easily selected for access. In effect, the presentation of the windows is “flattened” so that all windows appear at the same virtual depth, rather than overlapping one another. With this approach, there is no need to minimize windows in order to access one that is overlaid by another, thereby enabling the user to keep the content of all windows visible and accessible. Subsets of windows can be repositioned in the same manner, or all windows can be removed from the display area for access to desktop objects.

According to one method, relative priorities of a plurality of windows of a graphical user interface are determined. Further, relative priorities of a plurality of portions of at least one of the windows are determined. The windows are automatically arranged on the graphical user interface based on the relative priorities of the windows and based on the relative priorities of the portions. A higher priority window may cover a lower priority portion of a lower priority window to provide for a simultaneous viewing of the higher priority window and a higher priority portion of the lower priority window.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying grouped display information by variable sizevariable-sized, grouped display information on a touch screen are provided. The apparatus includes an input unit that receives input from a user on a touch screen on which several pieces of display information are grouped and displayed in a predetermined number of groups, a determination unit that determines which group was input by calculating a location on the touch screen with respect to the user's input, and a display unit that displays the several pieces of display information in groups, and changes a size of the group region input as a result of the determination and the size of the other groups corresponding to the input group region size.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for presenting an embedded visual media player included in a web page in a floating mode is disclosed herein. The status of the embedded visual media player and/or the position of the embedded visual media player relative to the current viewable area of a window are monitored to initiate the floating mode. The floating mode keeps the embedded visual media player within the viewable area while the web page is scrolled.

Abstract: A method of providing a frame-based object redirection overlay for a video stream provided by a third-party content provider and hosted by a host provider that may or may not be the same as the third-party content provider. One or more objects depicted within a frame of a video stream are selected. A user is presented with a tag corresponding to the selected object. Upon detection of the user's selection of the tag, the user is presented with options corresponding to the selected tag. The options are determined by the location of the user, the user's preferences, and enforcement of localization rules. Upon detection of the user's selection of an option, an action is taken that corresponds to the user's selection of the option.
