The method includes responsive to a cursor being away from a control element, present the control element in a compact state in the Graphical User Interface (GUI) within a display. The method also includes responsive to the cursor being over the control element, present the control element in an expanded state. The method includes responsive to receiving the selection of the option and determining the cursor is away from the control element, return the control element to the compact state from the expanded state.

Abstract: Systems, devices, media, and methods are presented for selective location-based identity communication. The systems and methods identify a current location of a mobile computing device and detect a selection of a user interface element associated with the current location. The systems and methods cause presentation of a set of display elements corresponding to the current location and detect selection of a display element of the set of display elements. The systems and methods modify a display characteristic for the current location of the mobile computing device within a set of mobile computing devices based on the selection of the display element.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to methods for improving the efficiency at which problem areas are identified and prioritized for an existing large, multi-module software system. In some embodiments, a workload mapper generates workload maps that identify the intersection between defect risk scores accumulated for various modules and a log of the modules that are accesses by a given workload. A graphical user interface (GUI) provides the ability to sort, search, compare and display the workload maps against various sort, search and/or compare criteria.

Abstract: An input apparatus includes a display unit, an input unit, and a control unit. The display unit displays function items on a display window. The input unit selects and determines one function item with a pointer. The control unit controls a movement of the pointer by setting coordinates of the pointer based on position information transmitted from the input unit. Each function item includes a button region and a selection region. When the pointer moves to one of the button region and the selection region, the function item is selected. When the pointer is set to an equivalent stop state in the selection region, coordinates of the pointer are set as coordinates of a stop state position. When the pointer is set to the equivalent stop state in the button region, the coordinates of the pointer are set as coordinates of a predetermined position of the button region.

Abstract: An approach for using multiple menus with a graphical user interface is disclosed. A multiple menu comprises a menu panel with two or more selection regions, each of which is associated with a base menu. A user requests the menu panel without selecting a menu object displayed on a display unit, such as by right-clicking. The menu panel is displayed along with one base menu, and other base menus are displayed by the user moving the cursor to another selection region. The user selects a menu item from a base menu to cause the application to execute the function associated with the menu item. The selection regions of the menu panel do not include information describing the content of the associated base menus. By arranging the base menus around the menu panel, cursor movement is minimized to improve user efficiency in using the application.

Abstract: Email functions, such as, for example, reply, reply to all, forward, delete, mark as unread, and mark as spam are made accessible to a user through a browser independent sidebar. In one embodiment, email messages stored by an email service provider comprise a first identifier used by a first email retrieval client and a second identifier used by the sidebar. In one embodiment, a protocol used by the sidebar to retrieve messages is augmented to comprise the first identifier, so that the sidebar can use email functions, such as, for example, mark as spam, that identify messages using the first identifier.

Abstract: While a user is using the electronic device, user interaction information for keystrokes, button pushes, and activation of functional controls may be recorded. The user interaction information is stored and when the electronic device is connected to a network, the user interaction information is sent over the network to a user interface analyzer. The user interface analyzer analyzes the user interaction information to determine patterns of usage regarding a hierarchy of menu items for the user interface. The analysis may show that a user interface may be improved for better usability. The user interface on the electronic device may be dynamically changed to alter the menu hierarchy, or the analysis may be used to improve future generations of products. For example, menu items may be positioned such that the user can more easily access menu items that are used more frequently.

The segment ring menu includes a number of menus that are located equidistant from an initial mouse position from where the segment ring menu is evoked. Hovering over any of the sections of the segment ring menu displays the menu items hosted in that section. The segment ring menu layout is directed at making it easy for the user to reach any of the menu items with a small amount of mouse movement.

Abstract: The present disclosure is a method for providing a plurality of screens in an idle state of a mobile terminal, comprising; allocating at least one application program to each of the screens, based on a user selection; displaying a first screen among the plurality of screens in the idle state; receiving a screen switch request from a user; and turning the screens one by one based on the screen switch request so as to display the at least one application program allocated to each of the screens.

Abstract: A method of executing an action related to data input by a user via a personal computing device is disclosed. The method involves receiving first input data via a keyboard, and associating the first input data with a secondary application available to the user via the personal computing device by causing an icon to be displayed on a display device for selection, the icon associated with the secondary application. The method also involves monitoring for user selection of the icon, and, in response to detecting user selection of the icon, activating the secondary application to generate second data contextually associated with the secondary application for display on the display device. Abstract: In general, the invention relates to a method for capturing information from a web site. The method includes accessing the web site using a browser with a browser module, where the web site comprises a number of web pages having information in a first format, and obtaining a profile corresponding to the web site, where the profile defines a manner to capture information in a first format from the web site. The method further includes capturing information, by the browser module, from at least one of the number of web pages based on the profile and sending the information captured by the browser module to a destination application, where the destination application is external to the browser and where the destination application is configured to use the information in a second format.

Abstract: A region menu is used to easily access menu items. Generally, the region menu includes a number of regions with associated menus that are located close to an initial mouse position from where the region menu is evoked. Hovering over any of the regions of the region menu displays the menu item that is associated with the region. Additionally, hovering over a menu item within one of the regions of the displayed region menu may activate a live preview showing a projected result of what would occur should that menu item be selected. During a live preview, a portion of the region menu becomes translucent such that content beneath the menu becomes visible.

The method includes receiving a menu request, determining the number of menu items based on the context of the menu request, generating a graphical context menu based on the determined number of the determined number of menu items, inserting the menu items into the generated graphical context menu, and displaying the generated graphical context menu on the display screen with the inserted menu items. Where searching is required beyond a present search scope, an automatic “upscoping” mechanism is provided for expanding a search to data storage folders outside a current data storage folder on which an initial search is executed.

In an embodiment, the method includes displaying a graphical representation of an initial progressive addition lens design including design parameters having design values. A user interface is provided including, for each of one or more of the design parameters, a control that is adjustable over a range of levels, each level in the range being associated with a corresponding value of the respective design parameter. The new folder includes stored resources of the computing device associated with the first and the second icons. Abstract: An operating system program launch menu, such as a Start menu, provides various mechanisms for a user to quickly and efficiently locate and launch desired data items such as programs, data files, storage locations, and the like. A search box within the program launch menu may be used to quickly locate programs, documents, communications, and other data items. An auto-complete feature may be used, e.g., when the user restricts the locations searched for the user-entered search text. A most commonly used program list may include programs based on various criteria including both frequency of use and recent use, thereby always including a most recently used item. An all programs view may display programs and documents in a hosted-tree view within the original confines of the program launch menu, thereby negating the need to open sub-menus on top of a large portion of the desktop displayed on the display device.
