Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods may operate to execute a plurality of screen saver program instances to display a plurality of separately visible screen saver images using a single display device at substantially the same time. In some embodiments, some or all of the screen saver images are displayed in a plurality of non-overlapping display compartments. The images may be selectively assigned a dominant color, or color scheme. The compartments may have boundaries that can be selectively revised. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: An image is moved and displayed through an image movement orbit composed of one or more annular orbits. The annular orbit is set such that a central point of the image to be displayed on a display screen is defined as a reference position, and the reference position is used as a start point, and this reference position is returned to when a movement corresponding to one round is completed. Thus, the image movement orbit is established so as to always pass through a reference point, for each cycle of an annular orbit. As a result of such image movement, the image movement as a pixel shift is unrecognizable so as to reduce ghost effects.

Abstract: In an automatic analyzer for performing qualitative and quantitative analyses of living samples, such as blood and urine, a capability of recognizing the analyzer state, e.g., the state under run of analysis or the stopped state, from a distance is provided without increasing the cost. To realize that capability, the screen saver function of a display is modified to have the function of recognizing the analyzer state and reflecting the recognized analyzer state on a design of a screen image displayed with the screen saver function.

Abstract: The disclosure provides systems and methods of use of an HVAC graphical interface dashboard. In various embodiments, the dashboard includes a weather tab, wherein invoking the weather tab advances to a weather screen. The dashboard also includes an indoor humidity tab. A programs tab and a home tab are also provided. The dashboard further comprises: a) a screen that employs a backlight to display information to a user; b) a backlight, and c) a motion detector, wherein the backlight is turned on by the motion detector upon a detection of motion.

Abstract: The disclosure provides systems and methods of use of an HVAC graphical interface dashboard. In various embodiments, the dashboard includes a weather tab, wherein invoking the weather tab advances to a weather screen. The dashboard also includes an indoor humidity tab, wherein invoking the indoor humidity tab advances to a humidity screen which displays at least a current indoor humidity, wherein the humidity screen interprets a percentage of humidity for a user. A programs tab and a home tab are also provided. At least one attribute of a presentation of the home screen is selectable by a user.

Abstract: In a device, multiple content descriptions are obtained. Each of the content descriptions identifies content that is available to the device, such as video on demand (VOD) programs, previously recorded programs, live programs, applications that can be run, and so forth. A screen saver is generated to concurrently display each of the multiple content descriptions as at least part of a screen saver for the device.

Abstract: A method and system for configuring an idle screen with an extended virtual area and for displaying a variety of contents on the idle screen extended by the virtual area is described. The method includes providing an idle screen that displays at least one content, and providing a virtual area that extends the idle screen and displays contents. The method may further include checking the settings of the virtual area when the virtual area is provided, and providing, if the virtual area is set, the idle screen extended by the virtual area where contents are provided by the extended idle screen.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for configuring an idle screen of a portable terminal which is capable of adaptively configuring the idle screen according to the use mode of the portable terminal of a user based on a preset widget set. A method of configuring an idle screen of a portable terminal of the invention includes activating a widget set corresponding to a user request; fetching a widget configured in the widget set in an activation of the widget set; and configuring the idle screen by the fetched widget.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a personal computer that includes: a display device 316 for displaying image information and a processor 312 operable when the display device 316 is in a screen saver mode to (a) receive, from an application, at least part of which is executing on the personal computer 216, notification of the occurrence of an event; (b) determine if the event is a member of a defined set of events; and (c) when the event is a member of the defined set of events, display on the display image information associated with the event, wherein the displaying function occurs while the display is in the screen saver mode.

An opaque graphical component obscures graphical components for all executing software (applications) programs on a display apparatus and prevents events from reaching the executing application programs.

Abstract: A burn-in control method and video processor for executing the same. The video processor intelligently recognizes aspects of a video image that are likely to cause burn-in, and responsive to such recognition, modifies the video image to prevent uneven aging of the pixels. According to one aspect of the disclosure, modifications are spatially made to an entire video frame, one or more selected regions of a video frame, or one or more individual pixels of a video frame. According to another aspect of the disclosure, modifications are temporally made to all frames in a video stream, selected frames in a video stream, or a single frame in a video stream.

Abstract: A method and system for reducing burn-in of a display is disclosed. A plurality of assets containing text, graphics, and video are stored and then gathered. These assets are then assembled into a template to form a video frame or “screen”, which is subsequently output in a video transport stream or video display. Based upon a trigger, the assets are gathered again and reassembled in a second template to form a second video frame or screen wherein the assets are in positions on the screen, which are different from those of the first screen. The second screen is subsequently output to the video transport stream and the process is repeated.

The method further includes providing, in the client device, non-changing visual information that corresponds to a first one of the selectable interactive media services. The method further includes providing, in the client device, the configured screen saver. The activation of the screen saver in the client device is configured to follow the providing of the non-changing visual information.

Abstract: An infusion system that includes a controller device and a communication system to provide for two-way communication between the controller device and an infusion device that controls delivery of fluids to a user's body. Either the controller device or the infusion device may be integrated with a characteristic determining device in a single housing. The housing, in turn, may include a test-strip receptacle and an illuminator disposed so as to illuminate an area covering the receptacle and a test-strip inserted therein. The illuminator may be configured to be activated automatically when a test strip is inserted into the receptacle, selectively by the user via a button, key, or similar mechanism, and/or when the ambient light level, measured, e.g., with a light sensor, falls below a predetermined intensity. The illuminator may be a LED emitting white light, and may provide illumination at various levels of intensity.

Abstract: The apparatus and method for extracting a single picture image from a video file saved in a storage device (20) of the electronic device (10) and performing a screen saver function using the extracted single picture image. The screen saver function may extract a plurality of single picture images from the saved video files of the electronic device. Abstract: An improved system and method for selecting and visualizing object metadata evolving over time is provided. An application may generate a visualization depicting the temporal evolution of metadata describing objects in an object store over a plurality of time intervals. The application may switch between a visualization of object metadata flowing like a river or cascading like a waterfall over time. A ranked list of metadata items may be determined for some pre-selected intervals during a pre-processing step. Then at runtime when a request may be received for providing a ranked list of metadata items for a query interval, a combination of time intervals from the pre-selected time intervals may be determined that cover the query time interval, and the ranked lists of metadata items for each time interval in the combination of time intervals that cover the query time interval may be aggregated and output for visualization.

The control data are altered substantially continuously in order to substantially continuously move the static image on the matrix.

The user interface component is set in an inactive operating mode, such as a keypad locking mode or a screen saver mode, for substantially non-active usage of the user interface component. An input is received in the inactive mode. The input received in the inactive operating mode may be stored and presented on a user interface component.

The wand may also include an input mechanism operative to receive user inputs. Using the input mechanism, the wand may detect a user's inputs and direct the electronic device to zoom or scroll displayed objects. The electronic device may display a screen saver by which the user may select particular media items for playback while remaining in the screen saver mode. In some embodiments, the electronic device may display video with a scroll bar that includes a preview window of the video.

Abstract: A screen saver utilizing screen content that is provided from a remote server and optionally selected based on the end-user's inferred interest in previous content. Further functionality in the screen saver that would monitor the level of usage (such as time that the screen saver is active) and report this to a central server where a “lottery like” selection of a winner(s) would be made. The winner(s) would then be provided a prize and optionally featured in subsequent screen saver content. The purpose of the above scheme being to create an incentive for usage of the screen saver which would include content that has advertising or other value to a sponsoring entity.

Abstract: A system and method for providing a screen saver for a display panel in a mobile electronic device are provided. After a time period of inactivity has been sensed, a screen saver image is retrieved from memory and transmitted to a display panel. The method and system also preferably provide means for controlling the colour of the screen saver image to balance the aging of the primary colours within the display panel.

In response to an input of a screen-switch event, a second idle screen of the base idle screen and extended idle screens different from the first idle screen is displayed instead of the first idle screen. For example, when the pointer is moved into a screen-switch region on the display unit, the first idle screen is switched to the second idle screen. The base and extended idle screens may have shortcuts to particular functions, and be switched one another in a circular or a non-circular manner.

Abstract: A system for automatically switching a computer to a password protected screen saver mode when a computer user leaves the proximity of the computer. The system includes a proximity sensor that determines whether or not an individual is located proximate the computer. The proximity sensor interfaces with either the computer a bus bridge, a keyboard controller, a keyboard, or some another component of the computer to cause the computer to start executing a screen saver program responsive to an output signal from the proximity sensor. A variety of proximity sensors may be used, including ultrasound, infrared, or electromagnetic proximity sensors. A proximity sensor may also detect the presence of the computer user by detecting the weight of the user at a location proximate the computer.

During a time period when the computer system is in an idle state, the controller is configured to store static frame data into a second storage device, and repeatedly retrieve the static frame data from the second storage device to display an image represented by the static frame data during a time when the computer system continues to be in the idle state.

A screensaver activation condition may be a period of inactivity with the application program. A global desktop screensaver property may also be stored and include global desktop screensaver activation and deactivation conditions, which are used to activate and deactivate a global desktop screensaver process that overlays application program windows.

Abstract: A computer generated poetry screen saver includes loading an author analysis model, and randomly selecting a seed word from the author analysis model. A poem is completed following the seed word using the author analysis model and the poem is displayed on an output device. The screen saver allows a user to select an interface that includes the screen saver interface option including basic screen saver options.

Abstract: A system for creating screen savers based on video images is provided. An object image that may move around in a video image is separated from backgrounds. An MPEG-4 file of the video image is created and stored in a computer. The MPEG-4 file is uploaded from the computer to a server connected to the computer through a network. The server detects motions of the object image in the MPEG-4 file, creates a screen saver based on the detected motions, and stores the screen saver. The computer may download the screen saver stored in the server and install the screen saver on the computer, and displays the video image as the screen saver on a screen.

Abstract: A screen controller for providing the display of images on a computer display in a programmatic manner, the images in one example originating from web sites of the Internet providing real time images from web cameras. In one embodiment, a method for displaying images on a display provides a user with one or more web sites to select, each web site having an image therein. The user's selection of the one or more web sites are stored, and the user is provided with a control to specify a time range during which each image of each web site is to be accessed. During the time range specified, the web site is accessed to obtain the image, and the image is displayed on the display.

Abstract: A remote metering display is used for displaying power-related information generated by a power meter linked to the display. Abstract: A display device and a method for driving the same are disclosed. The display device confirms whether display data applied to a display panel are uniformly maintained for a predetermined time. As a result of confirmation, if the display data are uniformly maintained for a predetermined time, pixels of the display panel are made for a predetermined block unit so that screen save modes are performed to sequentially apply screen save mode data to pixels of each block. The screen save modes are completed after there are sequentially performed for all blocks on the display panel. Thus, uniform luminance deviation can be obtained on the display panel of the display device and further picture quality of the display device can be improved.
