Abstract: Disclosed is a device for bending open, half-open, and closed hollow profiled members (11?). Said bending device operates with a central roller (3) that rests against the inner surface of the bent profiled member, a milling roller (4) which leans on the outer surface of the bend, and a bending roller (11) located at the discharge end of the profiled member. Said bending roller (11) acts upon the outer surface of the bend, counter to the supporting effect of a support roller (5, 6) that rests against the outer surface of the bend at the feeding end. In order to allow also thin-walled, sensitive profiled members to be shaped, additional milling rollers (12, 13) that act upon the top and bottom sidewall of the profiled member are disposed on a plane extending perpendicular to the bending plane in relation to the opposite central rollers and milling rollers (3, 4).

Abstract: The invention is a rotary draw bending machine and process for bending materials such as tubes or pipes into precise bends. A spindle holds a bending die, and a radial arm holds a counter-die. The spindle and arm are simultaneously rotated in opposite directions by a dual hydraulic drive controlled by an electro-hydraulic control system with foot pedal controls. The bend angle is preset by a protractor-like dial and limit switch mechanism. The radial arm has a slide track to align the counter-die with the bending die. The ratchet mechanism has teeth to allow incremental advancement of the counter-die when aligning it with its bending die to accurately set the gap between the dies. The machine is used with a wide variety of dies to bend a wide variety of workpiece diameters. The ratchet mechanism preferably includes a fine tuning device to provide an infinite range of alignment positions.

Abstract: A method and a preprocessed tube for producing a tube with a bent progression or with a bend embodied as a transverse progression. For the bent position of the tube or for each fold of the transverse progression, two miter cuts are made into an essentially straight tube, thus creating two tube sections with miter cut surfaces extending along the cutting planes and a cutting wedge. The miter cuts are placed according to the invention such that the cutting planes intersect at a point located inside the tube wall, and at this point a bendable bar is left intact connecting the two tube sections. A folding of the miter cut surfaces of the two tube sections onto each other around the bar acting as a hinge then allows both tube sections to be welded together all around their miter cut surfaces. Preferably an additional centering aid in form of a protrusion and a form-fitting recess is provided in the two opposite miter cut surfaces.

Abstract: By means of this process it is intended to achieve a high mechanical-geometric accuracy of bent tubes, and it is used for bending a measuring tube for a Coriolis mass flow rate sensor by means of a tube section of a predetermined length and by means of a two-piece press mold, which has been matched to both the measuring tube, which has an inner diameter and an outer diameter, and to the desired shape. To this end, a flexible support body is inserted into the tube section, which is fastened in a first end of the tube section in such a way, that the end is closed, and whose maximum outer diameter is less than the inner diameter of the tube section. The tube section is filled with a liquid which is subsequently permitted to solidify completely. The tube section filled with the support body and the solidified liquid is placed into the opened press mold, the latter is closed and the tube section is bent into the desired shape by this. The press mold is opened and the bent tube section is removed.

  • Patent number: 6575008
Abstract: A method and pipe-bending tool for manufacturing a pipe-offset for a connector at the end of a pipe, needed in the extension of the connector of the pipe of a pipe layer installed on a surface in which said pipe-offset for the connector, i.e. two consecutive bends are manufactured close to the end of the pipe due to the need of space of the connector, in order to move the end of the pipe in parallel to a certain distance from the level of the pipe layer. The bends are produced by placing the pipe between two lasts of a handheld tool, which are pressed against each other with the help of an operating device and in which there exists a pipe-offset of the connector, i.e. forms equal to both bends. The lasts are able to turn at least in a limited manner around the axle in the direction of the pressure, whereby the lasts can easily be turned in the direction of the pipe.

  • Publication number: 20030005741
Abstract: A method for bending a rigid pipe to accomplish a centerline radius less than or equal to the outside diameter of the pipe. Moreover, the method accomplishes such a bend whereby the wall thickness of the pipe on the outermost portion of the wall of the pipe is substantially maintained, as is the inside diameter throughout the bend of the pipe. The pipe bend is accomplished by first determining the desired angle of bend and the desired centerline radius. The arc length of the outermost portion of the pipe is then determined. The height and width of each corrugation is then selected in order to determine the length of the outer surface of each corrugation. The arc length is then divided by the corrugation length to determine the number of corrugations required to accomplish the desired bend. The pipe is then deformed to define the required number of corrugations having the determined height and width. After forming the corrugations, the pipe is bent through the selected degree of the bend.
