Such a transfer apparatus includes cooperating workpiece transfer tables, the movement of which is directed by respective guide rails. A first workpiece transfer table is directed along a path that is substantially parallel to the centerline of the press line. The second workpiece transfer table is directed along a path that is skewed with respect to the centerline of the press line by an amount sufficient to produce a desired shift of the workpiece centerline. As the second transfer table moves along the skewed guide rail and toward the first transfer table, the workpiece is automatically moved across the surface of the first transfer table to a desired centerline offset point.

Exemplary embodiments of the present invention incorporate a center turret cluster with a plurality of radii possible, a nose-bending mandrel, and a mandrel-bending mandrel. This apparatus forms a bending head that is attached to a CNC wire bending machine. This combination allows increased flexibility in forming complex wire forms and cuts down secondary operations, such as operations from robot arms, sometimes associated with CNC wire bending. In addition, the turret cluster position in the center allows for bending support with mandrel bends or nose bending on the back side of the bending head, usually 180 degrees away from the normal bending area. This allows the manufacturing of double end-loop forms without the addition of external clamps or robotic manipulation.

Abstract: In a method for the production of a rim hole in hollow profiles, a tubular piece is pushed into the hollow profile and placed there in such a way that it coaxially surrounds the location of the rim hole to be produced. The hollow profile is then acted upon from outside to inside at this location by a tool, with the rim hole being formed. In order to make possible a rim hole in hollow profiles in a relatively simple manner, this rim hole also satisfying high strength requirements even in the case of a small wall thickness of the hollow profile, it is proposed to first punch two opposite holes out of the hollow profile. At least one of these holes has a diameter which is smaller than that of the rim hole to be produced. The tubular piece is then inserted into the hollow profile interior, so that it comes to lie there coaxially to the common axis of the holes.
