    Abstract: A die cushion pad 13 is divided into four small pads 15 and a large pad 16. With this arrangement, a load applied to an action point of each of the small pads 15 can be equalized by the large pad 16, and an overturning moment arising between the action point and a reaction force point that equates the center of the small pad 15 can be canceled, thereby preventing flexure of the small pad 15. Accordingly, since flexure of the cushion pin and the like can be prevented, there is no risk that the cushion pin is frictioned against the penetrating hole of a bolster, and the lifting operation can be smoothly performed, whereby a higher-accuracy pressing forming operation can be realized.

    Abstract: Cathode cans for use in air depolarized cells, and cells made with such cans. The side wall is stronger than the bottom wall, and has a smoother outwardly-disposed surface than the respective bottom wall surface. Strength, and thus hardness, of the side wall relates to strength, and thus hardness, of the bottom wall, as hardness of 130-185 relates, to hardness of 93-117, on the Vickers scale. Preferred hardness of the side wall is about 130 to 185; and of the bottom wall is about 93 to 117. The side wall is drawn, and an outwardly-disposed surface of the side wall is ironed. As ironed, the surface finish is related to surface finish of the bottom wall, at the same stage, as surface finish RA of less than 2, preferably about 0.5 to about 1.5, microinches, is related to surface finish RA of about 2 to about 5, preferably about 2.5 to about 4.5, microinches. Thickness of the side wall is generally up to about 85 percent as great as thickness of the bottom wall.

    Abstract: Support structure for carrying a vehicle body comprises a pair of spaced apart frames positioned about a front and rear end of the vehicle body. Each frame has an octagon shape formed by joined elongated members. A cross bar assembly of each frame includes a pair of sleeve supports positioned on side members of the frame body and a center member pivotally carried by the sleeve supports. Latching mechanisms at ends of the cross bar assembly limit the degree of center member rotation with respect to the frame body. During use the frames are positioned horizontally so that bottom sections may be slid under respective slightly raised ends of the vehicle body. Mounts on each cross bar assembly then are attached to mounting structure of the vehicle. Next, a top member of one frame is lifted upward which rotates the frame body and lifts that end of the vehicle body. When vertical, its latching mechanisms activate to inhibit further frame movement. Bracing carried by the frame then is attached to the vehicle body.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for producing a diaphragm for highly brittle metals used in loudspeakers, comprising a step of making a laminated plate by stacking a plate of superplastic material on a plate of highly brittle metal. The laminated plate is arranged on a mould, and the laminated plate is heated to a predetermined range of temperatures, determined according to the highly brittle metal. Subsequently, the laminated plate is deformed by pressuring the laminated plate in the mould, at the range of temperatures. Thus, a diaphragm can be formed from a plate of highly brittle metals, without causing brittle fracture or generating internal or surface defects.

A further step includes interposing a radio-active radiation responsive signal device in said production line before rolling. Apparatus for carrying out said method includes a device for imparting radioactivity to an ingot in advance of a rotary hearth furnace. Radiation counter-tubes are located in advance of a taper mill and a continuous rolling mill respectively. Further counter-tubes are arranged in advance of a stretch reducing or sizing mill.
