  • Patent number: 11772144
Abstract: A process is provided for the continuous production of thin-walled, radially closed hollow profiles composed of nonferrous metals and having a small cross section comprises supply of a flat strip of the metal to a forming apparatus at a first supply speed, the thickness of the strip corresponding to the wall thickness of the hollow profile. The forming apparatus continuous forms the flat strip into a shape corresponding to the hollow profile. After forming, two opposite edges of the flat strip rest flush against one another in a contact region and are continuously welded by means of a laser which emits light having a wavelength of less than 600 nm. The laser heats an area in a welding region having a diameter of less than 20% of the cross-sectional dimension of the hollow profile. The welded hollow profile is taken off from the welding region and taken up in an uptake device.

Abstract: This method refers to a method by which the physical and mechanical properties intrinsic to a fine-grain structure may be formed in metal billets using pressure treatment. The method is designed to treat rods, bars and other particularly long billets. This method is designed to lower the cost of deformational treatment for long rods and large diameter billets and creates a pre-specified microstructure, including micro-crystal structure, and specific physical and mechanical properties. This may be achieved using various treatment techniques, one of which includes the deformation of at least a part of the billet through reduction of the billets cross-section. In this method, a long rod shaped billet is used. Reduction of the cross-section is achieved using tools that permit movement along and across the billet's axis as well as being rolled about its surface, for example, a roller. In this case at least one support stand is employed for correct placement of the billet.

A mandrel is provided with camming wedge members which actuate spherical forming members when the mandrel is reciprocated. Each spherical forming member projects through an aperture in a housing member which closely surrounds the mandrel. In this manner the spherical forming members engage a tubular article on the mandrel and force the contacted portion of the tubular article into a die member. The mandrel, housing member and spherical forming members are then rotated with respect to the tubular article to be formed whereby a predetermined projection is formed on the tubular article.

  • Patent number: 4085607
Abstract: A corrugation head includes a holder for a two segment, helical corrugating edge with adjustable pitch of the helix as well as of working spiral. The edge extends from two annular segments which have grooves and are held for bending. One of the segments can be pivoted inwardly for adjusting the depth of the corrugation to be made.

  • Patent number: 3998082
Abstract: A corrugating tool in the form of a segment, having a helically shaped forming edge, whereby the tool is in contact with less than the entire circumference of a tube to be corrugated. The tool is pivotably mounted to the corrugating head to permit adjustment of the corrugating depth.

  • Patent number: 3939718
Abstract: Improved mechanism to convert rotary motion to transverse motion comprises a disc journalled to rotate about its axis and provided eccentrically with a journal, a trunnion provided with a journal, a trunnionway supporting the trunnion for transverse movement of the trunnion within the trunnion-way in opposite directions normal to such axis, and a shaft journalled to rotate within the journal provided in the disc. One end of the shaft is provided eccentrically with an axially extending pin journalled to rotate within the journal provided in the trunnion. Thereby, the pin is displaced transversely as the disc is rotated about its axis.
