Abstract: A lightweight radio/CD player for vehicular application is virtually “fastenerless” and includes a case and frontal interface formed of polymer based material that is molded to provide details to accept audio devices such as playback mechanisms (if desired) and radio receivers, as well as the circuit boards required for electrical control and display. The case and frontal interface are of composite structure, including an insert molded electrically conductive wire mesh screen that has been pre-formed to contour with the molding operation. The wire mesh provides EMC, RFI, BCI and ESD shielding and grounding of the circuit boards via exposed wire mesh pads and adjacent ground clips. The PCB architecture is bifurcated into a first board carrying common circuit components in a surface mount configuration suitable for high volume production, and a second board carrying application specific circuit components in a wave soldered stick mount configuration.

  • Patent number: 7703110
Abstract: A first groove, a second groove, and a prepared hole are formed in a traverse chassis. The first groove restricts the downward movement of a printed circuit board as a lower edge portion of the board is slidably pinched in the first groove. The second groove restricts the sliding movement in one direction of the board as an edge portion on one side of both lateral sides of the board whose lower edge portion is nipped in the first groove is fitted in the second groove. The prepared hole vertically penetrates a portion of the traverse chassis defining the first groove and is disposed adjacent to an edge portion on another side of the both lateral sides of the board whose edge portion on the one side is fitted in the second groove.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a disk drive apparatus or a base unit which can prevent contact between an FPC (flexible Printed Circuit board) and an optical disk. The FPC 116 is connected at one end portion thereof to an optical pickup 115 and is extended in one of feeding directions thereof (for example, in a substantially leftward direction), curved and turned back intermediately and then extended in the other one of the feeding directions (for example, in a substantially rightward direction). The top cover 117 is attached between the FPC 116 and the optical disk and covers part of the FPC 116. A guide part 118 is attached to a portion which corresponds to a framework of a dotted line on the lower face of the top cover 117 for guiding the posture of the FPC 116 so that a portion of the FPC 116 which is not covered with the FPC 116 and the optical disk are spaced away from each other. The present invention can be applied to a drive apparatus for an optical disk such as a DVD or a CD.
