Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes obtaining, from a storage, a video to be enhanced, based on a selection of a user; determining corresponding sets of object scores for a plurality of objects identified in the video, respectively, based on a set of predetermined factors; identifying a primary object and one or more secondary objects in the video, among the plurality of objects, based on the corresponding sets of object scores; and applying at least one visual effect to the primary object and at least one secondary object, from the one or more secondary objects, in at least a portion of the video, for obtaining an enhanced video with the at least one visual effect applied at least to the portion of the video.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods, apparatuses, and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium for receiving media data. One apparatus includes processing circuitry that receives a media presentation description (MPD) file. The MPD file includes key-value pair information for a session-based description (SBD) file. The SBD file includes a plurality of session-based parameters. The processing circuitry determines which of the plurality of session-based parameters in the SBD file is to be included in a query based on the key-value pair information in the MPD file. The processing circuitry further generates the query based on the determination of which of the plurality of session-based parameters in the SBD file is to be included in the query.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing video content in a Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over Hypertext Transfer Protocol (DASH) streaming session may be provided. The method may include obtaining a pre-session-based description (PreSBD) information of the DASH streaming session instructing a PreSBD client to generate customized session-based description (SBD) document uniform resource locator (URL) for a plurality of SBD descriptors of the DASH streaming session. The method may further include instantiating the PreSBD client and passing PreSBD descriptor information. Then, the method may include controlling generation of a customized SBD document URL associated with a first SBD descriptor from the plurality of SBD descriptors of the DASH streaming session. The method may further include launching a first SBD client based on the customized SBD document URL and passing the first SBD descriptor.

Abstract: Systems and methods for time-shifted prefetching of predicted content for wireless users. Prefetching video data can include retrieving video data and feature data and generating a video candidate set including selected videos of the related video data. The method can further include determining predicted videos using a machine learning algorithm. The predicted videos can be videos of the video candidate set that are likely to be viewed by a user at a future time. The method can further include prefetching the predicted videos by downloading the predicted videos.

Abstract: A generic wireless device management system and a method for operating the management system in a controlled environment is disclosed. The enterprise management system includes a generic wireless device and a generic provisioning server. The generic wireless device, which is initially in a generic blank state, coordinates with the generic provisioning server to authenticate an inmate and to load an inmate profile. After loading the inmate profile, the generic wireless device provides access to content specific to the inmate. After the inmate signs out of the generic wireless device, the generic wireless device is returned to a generic blank state.

Abstract: A system and method to execute, via a graphical user interface of a video player, playback of video content including a cue object corresponding to an item. An overlay is generated within the display, wherein the overlay includes an interactive portion configured to receive a user interaction associated with the cue object. A user interaction corresponding to the cue object is received via the interactive portion of the overlay. In response to the user interaction, a transaction associated with the item is processed.

Abstract: One or more highlights of a video stream may be identified. The highlights may be segments of a video stream, such as a broadcast of a sporting event, that are of particular interest to one or more users. According to one method, at least a portion of the video stream may be stored. The portion of the video stream may be compared with templates of a template database to identify the one or more highlights. Each highlight may be a subset of the video stream that is deemed likely to match the one or more templates. The highlights, an identifier that identifies each of the highlights within the video stream, and/or metadata pertaining particularly to the one or more highlights may be stored to facilitate playback of the highlights for the users.

A first set of images of a graphical display may be acquired and analyzed to identify visual characteristics of an object represented. Attributes of the object may be identified. A user-selectable interface element may be generated for presentation as an option to take an action relating to the object represented. A visual output of the interface element may be output as an overlay on the first set and/or a second set of images displayed by the computing device. A user selection responsive to the outputting of the visual output of the at interface element may be processed. A communication may be transmitted to the television receiver to cause the action responsive to the user selection.

The playback position of the content recording to the one or more occurrence times is compared. A reply to the query is generated, for aural or visual presentation, the reply being based on a result of the comparing, the reply comprising data about at least one event corresponding to the one or more event identifiers.

A display of a progress bar including segments for the events in the previously accessed content is provided in the screen view of current media being accessed. The progress bar segments may be selected to access the content. Upon conclusion of the content, an image and text about the content may be supplied to the viewer to post on social media about the content.

The essential property descriptor indicates a session-based description (SBD) file that includes one or more key-value pairs dynamically generated by a local SBD session controller. Each key of the one or more key-value pairs indicates service information of a different service of a local device. The processing circuitry modifies a uniform resource locator (URL) based on the SBD file. The processing circuitry acquires a resource from a remote server based on the modified URL.

The invention discloses improvement of the accuracy of providing interactive media content to the user's computing device while providing a simultaneous feedback from the user's computing device to the server for generating and transmitting over-the-air media content. The system for providing interactive media content uses a static graphic marker. The system includes: a remote server for generating on-air media content and transmitting it to a display device, wherein the generation is performed by combining data of the on-air media content with the data of the static graphic marker; a network for receiving and transmitting data from a remote server to a user's computing device; a user's computing device for scanning the static graphic marker, transmitting the scanned data to the remote server, receiving processed interactive media content data and displaying the interactive media content on the user's display.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for generating new content segments based on object name identification. A content segment may be received from a device and a content structure is generated based on the content segment. The content structure includes objects each having attributes. The system may search a contact database associated with the device to identify a matching entry of the contact database with a particular object. The comparison matches metadata of the matching entry with an attribute of the particular object. Upon matching, the first object is modified to include a name attribute based on the matching metadata of the matching entry. In response to receiving a request using the name of the particular object to create a new content segment, the system inserts the particular object into a new content structure and a new content segment is generated for display from the new content structure.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a server associated with a network operator, a plurality of uniform resource locators (URLs) associated with a media stream provided to a client device. The method includes processing, at the server, the plurality of URLs to determine a quality of experience metric. Processing the plurality of URLs includes extracting first URL data from a first URL and second URL data from a second URL of the plurality of URLs. The first URL data includes a first segment identifier associated with a first segment of a media content item and a first bit rate identifier. The second URL data includes a second segment identifier associated with a second segment of the media content item and a second bit rate identifier. A quality of experience metric may be determined based at least in part on the first URL data and the second URL data.

Abstract: A method of processing information in a digital receiver connected to an external input source includes receiving uncompressed data of a broadcast service from the external input source, the broadcast service delivered based on either a Real-Time Object Delivery over Unidirectional Transport (ROUTE) protocol or an MPEG Media Transport (MMT) protocol; extracting an audio watermark from the uncompressed data; making a request to a specific server using domain type and server code of the audio watermark to form a first URL; receiving a recovery file including a second URL used to retrieve signaling files needed to access and present a supplementary content; retrieving the signaling files using the second URL in the recovery file; and presenting the supplementary content based on the signaling files. Further, timing information included in the recovery file is used to synchronize the supplementary content with the uncompressed data from the external input source.

The method includes retrieving source video data and data defining a segment size used by a distributor, into which video data is divided when transmitted. The method includes identifying a boundary point of the source video data. The method includes embedding additional video objects into the selected frames, creating output video data which has a boundary which corresponds with the identified boundary point. The method includes generating metadata including information on said boundary point of the source video data to be replaced by the created output video data; and transmitting the output video data and the metadata to the distributor.

Abstract: A method includes receiving from a user a request to play a media file on a media player operating on a client terminal, where the media file is coded with a first coding format incompatible with the media player. The media file is transcoded from the first coding format to a transcoded media file in a second coding format compatible with the media player, and streaming the transcoded media file over a communication network to the media player concurrently during transcoding by transcoding a data chunk from a plurality of data chunks related to the media file respectively to a transcoded data fragment. The transcoded data fragment is sent for stream viewing on the media player while transcoding a next data chunk from said plurality of data chunks. The transcoded data fragments are written to the transcoded media file and stored in a memory.

Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed for dynamically switching between communication networks during audio streaming over a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)/Audio Return Channel (ARC) interface of a display device. A media device is configured to implement the dynamic switching. The media device, coupled to the HDMI/ARC interface, receives an audio stream over the HDMI/ARC interface and transmits the audio stream to speakers on a first network. The media device determines that the first network is overloaded and identifies a clean channel of a second network for transmitting the audio stream without an overload condition. The media device switches itself and connected speakers to the second network for a clean audio stream. The media device switches itself and connected speakers to the first network when there is no longer a need to be on the second network or when there is benefit to be on the first network.

Abstract: In a system for video data capture and sharing client devices may include one or more video cameras and sensors to capture video data and to generate associated metadata. A cloud-based component may receive metadata from the client devices and requests for sharing video data captured by other client devices. Client devices with requested video data are identified by matching their provided metadata to the sharing request and by their response to an image search query for an object of interest specified in the request.

Abstract: A method includes receiving from a user a request to play a media file on a media player operating on a client terminal, where the media file is coded with a first coding format incompatible with the media player. The media file is transcoded from the first coding format to a transcoded media file in a second coding format compatible with the media player, and streaming the transcoded media file over a communication network to the media player concurrently during transcoding by transcoding a data chunk from a plurality of data chunks related to the media file respectively to a transcoded data fragment. The transcoded data fragment is sent for stream viewing on the media player while transcoding a next data chunk from said plurality of data chunks. The transcoded data fragments are written to the transcoded media file and stored in a memory.

Abstract: A method and system for encoding a segment of an input video with accurate placement of key frames, e.g., I-Frames, using Group of Pictures (GOPs) length for output in a distributed video encoding system with two or more encoders is disclosed. The method includes creating overlapping segments in order to allow precise key frame placement. Further, the method includes using desired segment length and the desired key frame placement to create the overlapping segments. Further, the method includes skipping a certain number of frames at the beginning of the segment, and a certain number of frames at the end of the segment, thereby achieving accurate placement of key frames.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed herein for automatically indicating, during display of video of an event, actions in event that could satisfy side-game scoring scenarios. This may be accomplished by a media application that generates a live video of an event and retrieves data relating to a current status of a side-game in which a user is participating. The media application determines that a next play of the event could affect an outcome of the side-game and, in response, determines a particular action within the event that could affect the outcome of the side-game. The media application generates for display, within the video, an overlay on top of a playing space of the event, the overlay indicating where the particular action would need to occur to affect the outcome of the side-game.

Abstract: System and methods related to video information distribution are provided. The system may obtain a video source address. The system may receive a video segment of a video stream from a remote server configured with the video source address. The system may parse the video segment for header information. The system may determine that a video corresponding to the video source address is playable on a remote device in response to the header information being included in the video segment. The system may store the video source address in a database. The database may include a plurality video addresses corresponding to respective videos that are playable on the remote device.

Abstract: A method of displaying a home menu interface on a content viewing device, such as a television, is described. The interface is comprised of two components: a launcher and an accelerator. Each of these components include multiple tiles. One type of launcher tile represents a content source. The user can select this tile and enable a direct link to the content source application. Only after selecting the tile, does the content source application open. An accelerator is associated with a specific content source. An accelerator tile displays content previews or enables easy playback of content provided by the content source. The user can select an accelerator tile and enable a deep link to the content, taking the user straight to the content, bypassing a hierarchy of menu options.
