The user interface provides context sensitive hints to assist the viewer. The system also tracks a viewer's viewing history in a manner that allows the viewer to review and directly access any part of that history. Finally, magnetic points are created for use during video scrubbing to intelligently select relocation points for the current playback position.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are provided for detecting coordinate information about a screen display shown at a monitor unit. The monitor unit is located within the field of view of a vision-based computing device. A set of source images captured by the camera representative of the screen display shown at the monitor unit are stored. A neural network model is stored in memory. A processor is configured to preprocess the set of source images to obtain an input frame and to process the input frame with the loaded neural network model to predict corner coordinates of the screen display in real-time. In a further feature, the processor may be configured to estimate a pose of the vision-based computing device relative to the monitor unit when a level of confidence in the updated corner coordinates exceeds a threshold.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to address shortcomings in conventional conversation systems by executing a customized supplemental function for a natural language query based on the user's profile. In some aspects, the systems and methods receive a user query for a media asset, determine a query template in the user's profile matching the user's query, and identify and execute a supplemental function corresponding to the query template in addition to responding to the user's query. The user's profile is customized on the user's usage patterns of an interactive media guidance application. By monitoring the user's usage patterns and learning from the user's actions in conjunction with the user's natural language queries on which supplemental functions to execute, the interactive media guidance application may provide a smarter and more efficient user experience.

The bulb identifies one or more actionable items within the encompassed device contents and provides a visual indication of the identified actionable items. Thereafter, the bulb recognizes an inter-relationship between the identified one or more actionable items and provides at least one appropriate device application for executing at least one task which involves the inter-relationship among the actionable items. A preferred application may be notified with an indication such as a red dot.

This approach allows advertisers to leverage their investment in, for example, television advertising by sending advertisements to SNS users who have likely seen the advertisements within shows that they have expressed interest in the context of a SNS. Time-based media streams are analyzed to detect the airings of advertisements within those streams. In one embodiment, SNS content items are received regarding individual users. Based on references in those content items between users and their interests, targeted messages may be sent to users. In another embodiment, targeted messages are sent to SNS users based on the airing of advertisements and targeting criteria provided by advertisers.

The request includes information as to input parameters and video input characteristics for each of the first and second content streams. Currently available resources, including memory and bandwidth, are monitored and upon initiation of the PiP window request a query is executed to determine if the available resources are sufficient. If yes, allocation of available resources is carried out to simultaneously display the first and second content streams. If no, an adjustment operation is carried out that modifies at least one input parameter or video input characteristic to simultaneously display content streams in optimal formats.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for navigating between groups of media assets based on multiple user inputs of directional navigation commands received within a threshold period of time of each other. Specifically, the system may navigate through a number of ordered groups of media assets without presenting information to the user related to the specific groups (e.g., present to the user media assets associated with the group) in response to receiving the multiple directional navigation commands, thus allowing a user to navigate to a desired group of media assets with fewer distractions.

An item recognition application obtains media information associated with a broadcast being consumed form the client device. The item recognition application identifies objects in the media based on user input of the location of the object on the client device display and/or heuristic detection of the object. The user may indicate the object's location through an input device. The object may be heuristically detected based on an algorithm that differentiates the object from the background. The item recognition application identifies items related to the object. The item recognition application then performs an action with the item.
