Abstract: In one aspect, an example system includes a first distributor server to cause transmission of first media associated with first data representing a first state of the first media scheduled to end at a scheduled end-time. The example system includes a receiver to obtain second data representing a second state of a past event corresponding to a subject of the first media, determine a predicted end-time of the first media based on a comparison of the first and second states, and after a determination that the predicted end-time is after at least one of the scheduled end-time of the first media or a scheduled start-time of second media, generate an electronic program guide (EPG) based on the predicted end-time. The example system also includes a second distributor server to cause transmission of a portion of second media to the receiver, the second distributor server different from the first distributor server.

Abstract: A user's wager history and previous interactions with a ticker element on a wagering app can be used to identify the user's wager preferences and tendencies. These preferences can then be used to personalize the order in which ticker elements may be displayed to a user while viewing available wagers. The available wagers can additionally be used with the user preferences to improve the relevance of the ticker elements displayed to both the user and the wagers available to the user to place.

Abstract: A method and system for generating recommendations across multiple product or service domains are disclosed. The system includes a plurality of domain servers for handling user events and for interfacing with users via the Internet, a database for storing the user events, and a recommendation engine. The recommendation engine further includes one or more computer programs containing instructions for collecting the user events across a plurality of product or service domains in the database, receiving a triggering event for recommendations, analyzing the user events to formulate correlations between the user events in the database, and generating recommendations in response to the triggering event in accordance with the correlations between the user events in the database. The disclosure uses user input data from different domains for producing recommendations in any of those domains. The disclosure allows for access to a greater amount of user input data which in turn improves the quality of recommendations.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products are provided for prioritizing content delivery. Content files associated with one of a plurality of content types are received and saved in one of a plurality of delivery queues according to the content type of the content file where each delivery queue is associated with a priority. In turn, the content files saved in the plurality of delivery queues are delivered over one or more networks to one or more affiliate systems. The transmission order of the content files is based on the priority of the delivery queue.

Abstract: Systems and methods of a media device are operable to perform a channel change operation. An exemplary embodiment receives a first data table from a data table server, wherein the first data table comprises first control information used to perform a channel change operation such that the media device reconfigures itself to change to a new channel from a currently presenting channel or to a new media content event from a currently presenting media content event. The exemplary embodiment later receives a second data table after initiation of the channel change operation, wherein the second data table is broadcast to the media device in one of a plurality of received broadcasting media content streams that has the new media content event, and wherein the second data table comprises second control information that corresponds to at least some of the first control information used to perform the channel change operation.

Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system are provided for binding application data associated with an application with content asset data associated with a content asset. In some embodiments, capacity or bandwidth for each of the application data and the content asset data may be allocated in accordance with one or more profiles. The one or more profiles may include horizontal aspects, vertical aspects, linear and non-linear aspects, and the like. In some embodiments, the binding may take place at a content provider location in accordance with early binding practices, at a central location in accordance with late binding practices, and/or at a user equipment device in accordance with user binding practices.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for managing playback of digital content on two or more different playback devices. A playback device designated as a controller is associated with a playback device designated as a playback target. Association is implemented via a local network discovery protocol. The controller issues commands to the target, which then streams digital content directly from a content server. The controller is able to separately stream related digital content for independent, but synchronized playback. Server mediated operations, such as device activation and application installation, are advantageously enabled by explicit association between the controller and the target.

Abstract: Systems and methods for kiosk or payment terminal-based touchless interactions using mobile electronic devices are disclosed. In one embodiment, at a cloud-based information processing apparatus comprising at least one computer processor, a method for interacting with a kiosk or payment terminal using a mobile electronic device may include: (1) receiving, from a mobile electronic device and at a uniform resource locator, a communication comprising an identifier for a kiosk or payment terminal comprising a screen; (2) receiving, from the mobile electronic device, touch data corresponding to user input to a touch-sensitive input on the mobile electronic device; and (3) communicating the touch data to the kiosk or payment terminal. Responsive to the active recording status, an end of program is determined according to the identified media program, the program event information and the program status information. Abstract: Example embodiments provide systems and methods for managing intelligent content queuing from a secondary device for content delivery to a primary device. A content queuing system on the secondary device generates and displays a playlist interface on the secondary device. A selection of a content item to be added to a playlist is received. The content queuing system determines that addition of the content item causes a live content item to overlap with an on-demand content item on the playlist. As a result, the content queuing system creates at least two segments for the on-demand content item. The live content item is positioned between the first and a second segment on the playlist. The first segment is scheduled to end at a start time of the live content item and the second segment is scheduled to begin at an ending time of the live content item.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to selectively provide a buffer time prior to deletion of a media content item. In particular, techniques are presented for transmitting a proposal to delay deletion of a media content item, in response to determining that a number of identified users likely to view the media content item exceeds a predetermined number. Systems and methods are also described to identify a user who is likely to view the media content item, and present to the identified user an offer to extend availability of a media content item. Deletion of the media content item may be delayed by a predetermined time period.

Abstract: A method executed by a processing system of an edge router deployed in a content distribution network includes receiving a request from an endpoint device for a first file, determining that a portion of the first file is not stored in a cache of the edge router, determining that the cache is at a capacity threshold, selecting a second file to evict from the cache, wherein the second file is one of a plurality of files stored in the cache, wherein each file of the plurality of files is scheduled to be evicted from the cache when a threshold period of time has passed since a last request for the each file was received by the edge router, and wherein the threshold period of time associated with the second file is scheduled to expire soonest among all of the plurality of files, and evicting the second file from the cache.

Abstract: Current interfaces for displaying information about items appearing in videos are obtrusive and counterintuitive. They also rely on annotations, or metadata tags, added by hand to the frames in the video, limiting their ability to display information about items in the videos. In contrast, examples of the systems disclosed here use neural networks to identify items appearing on- and off-screen in response to intuitive user voice queries, touchscreen taps, and/or cursor movements. These systems display information about the on- and off-screen items dynamically and unobtrusively to avoid disrupting the viewing experience.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and machine-readable media for containerizing and adapting content items for delivery in a packet stream from a content provider system via one or more networks to an endpoint media device are disclosed. A content composite may be created for delivery in a packet stream from a content provider system to an endpoint media device. A containerization object may be configured with a container flag that indicates a content item and containerization specifications to facilitate performance of operations by the endpoint media device with respect to the content item. The content composite may be transmitted in accordance with composite transmission specifications. The endpoint media device may perform the operations facilitated by the containerization object of the content composite.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for minimizing delay time for controlling media content capture during live video broadcast production. The system includes a video production receiver that receives media content streams from one or more cameras that includes live media content captured by the cameras and encoded in a first encoding format. Moreover, a multi-view interface displays the media content and a video production controller generates control instructions based on inputs to the interface to change operation of the cameras capturing the respective media content. A camera controller is included that transmits the generated control instructions to the cameras to change the operation for capturing the respective media content. Moreover, the video production controls production of a live video stream for video broadcast production using media content that is captured from the cameras and that is encoded in a second encoding format different than the first encoding format.

Abstract: Systems and methods provided herein for intelligently distinguishing between different versions of a media asset and selectively storing those requested media assets that differ from versions that were previously stored in some pre-defined characteristics. These systems and methods, upon identifying a version of the requested media asset was previously stored, determine a characteristic of the requested media asset. These systems and methods compare the characteristic of the requested media asset with a corresponding characteristic of the version of the requested media asset that was previously stored to determine a difference between the two versions. The systems and methods then determine whether the difference in characteristic renders the requested media asset preferable over the previously stored version. Upon determining that the requested media asset is preferable over the previously stored version, the systems and methods store the requested media asset.

Abstract: Systems and methods for one-way time transfer using physical layer signaling are disclosed herein. According to some examples, a method includes generating timing information based on a clock of a transmitting device, where the timing information comprises a timestamp and metadata. The method further includes generating a preamble of a frame, where the preamble includes the timestamp and the metadata of the timing information. The method also includes forming a frame, where the frame comprises a bootstrap, the preamble, and a payload, and transmitting the frame to a receiver device. The one-way time transfer systems and methods of this disclosure can serve mobile devices that entail quick and reliable establishment of a clock.

The content object is an abstract representation of the content item. The content object can be associated with the segment and provided for simultaneous displayed simultaneously with at least a portion of the segment.

An audio frame coded by an Audio Compression-4 (AC-4) scheme is generated. The audio frame includes configuration information on the audio frame and at least one substream including the audio data and metadata for the audio data. The configuration information includes substream index information and substream size information. Real time Object delivery over Unidirectional Transport (ROUTE) packets containing the audio frame are generated. The ROUTE packets are processed to generate Internet Protocol (IP) packets. The IP packets are processed to generate link layer packets, and the broadcast signal including at least one data pipe that includes the link layer packets is transmitted.

The device can identify a user device to potentially receive the streaming content and an edge device associated with the user device. The device can modify a format of the streaming content based on a format acceptable to the user device. The device can proactively provide the streaming content to the edge device to cause the edge device to make the streaming content available to be provided for presentation on the user device. The streaming content can be proactively provided to the edge device before the user device requests the streaming content from the edge device.

Abstract: A network addressable appliance with digital multimedia recording capabilities has limited access including playback of stored multimedia content upon faulty connection with a service provider network. Upon a connectivity event, the network addressable appliance compares a retrieved hardware address for a connected residential gateway to a stored hardware address for an assigned residential gateway. If the two hardware addresses correspond, the network addressable appliance provides playback to stored multimedia content. The system helps prevent violations of digital rights management rules by restricting access to stored multimedia content while the network addressable appliance is connected to an unauthorized residential gateway. The system provides a user with limited access (i.e. playback) to multimedia content during service provider network outages.

Abstract: A method for matching a query against a broadcast stream includes receiving one or more broadcast streams, from which it generates and stores an audio fingerprint of a selected portion of each received broadcast stream. A query is received from which the method generates an audio fingerprint. From that point, the method continues by identifying audio content from the query, using the query audio fingerprint and a database of indexed audio content. The method concludes by identifying the source of the query using the query audio fingerprint and the stored audio fingerprints. Embodiments of the method further include predictively caching audio fingerprint sequences and corresponding audio item identifiers from a server after storing audio fingerprints extracted from the broadcast stream; and using the predictively cached audio fingerprint sequences to identify an audio item within the audio signal based on at least some additional audio fingerprints of the audio signal.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for subscriber-driven resource shifting in an attempt to maximize delivery of desirable content to subscribers while minimizing the impact of that content delivery to network infrastructure resources. When a media plan subscriber requests access to media content, and the requested object is determined not to be “watch-nowable” (e.g., it would be undesirable to deliver the object in substantially real time to the subscriber given present communications resource availability) embodiments identify a number of content objects that are presently watch-nowable content objects with respect to the requesting subscriber. Of those watch-nowable content objects, various techniques are presented for determining a set of alternate content objects, including those most likely to provide the subscriber with a similar level of engagement.
