For example, the media guidance application determines that the user has stopped using the first device and is using the second device. In response, the media guidance application retrieves, from memory, a length of time that the user has consumed media on the first device. The media guidance application then determines the time interval when the user was consuming media on the first device. Next, media content is determined that the user consumed on the first device during the time interval. The media guidance application then determines a characteristic of the consumed media content and recommends media content on a second device based on the characteristic.

Moments in the metadata are identified by parsing comments in the metadata for comments that reference a time in the video. Moments are recorded with the referenced time and the text of the comment. Videos are rated and may be delivered to users based at least in part on the rating. Moments may be displayed together with the video by displaying the text of moments at the associated time in the video as the video is being delivered. The text of moment records may be searched based on search parameters received form a user to identify videos to deliver to the user.

A collection of abstracted software functions enable interaction with the different stream platforms and protocols. Using these abstracted functions, a stream-processing service accesses a requested data stream and samples its data events for either sample timeframe or up to a threshold number of data events. The sampled data events are parsed and visually presented to the user in an easy-to-understand format. The user may then inspect the data stream's data for use in developing robust applications that may integrate and use such data.

The method applies the buffered data elements to a feature detect tree that includes a root node and one or more subsequent branch nodes, a set of the subsequent branch nodes defining a path culminating in a leaf node, by applying a data element to the root node and testing the data element to reject or select the data element, applying a prior-selected data element to subsequent branch nodes, and conducting at each of the subsequent branch nodes, a test to reject or select the prior-selected data element, and stopping, for a selected path, the applying and testing after the prior-selected data element reaches a path's leaf node. Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for adjusting the priority of media assets scheduled to be recorded to reflect the current behavior and interests of the user. For example, a household with young children may have scheduled recordings for the DVR with a wide variety of television shows of different genres (e.g., Children's Shows, Sports Games, and Crime Procedurals) and as the children grow up, the preference may gradually shift towards other types of shows. As this shift of interest happens over time, it can be difficult or impossible for the user to change the priority of each of the media assets of the scheduled recordings each time the interests of the user changes an incremental amount.

Abstract: A mechanism is provided in a computing system for interpreting and distinguishing a lack of an answer to an input question. The mechanism receives an input question from a user. The mechanism generates one or more hypotheses based on a corpus of source information. The mechanism injects a no-answer response into the one or more hypotheses to form a plurality of candidate answers. The mechanism ranks the plurality of candidate answers based on evidence scoring and confidence scoring to form a candidate answer ranking. Responsive to determining the no-answer response is the top candidate answer in the candidate answer ranking, the mechanism presents the no-answer response to the user.
