Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for enabling a smart automatic skip mode during playback of a content item. A content item is generated for output at a first time at a computing device, and input associated with navigating the content item is received. Metadata associated with a plurality of segments of the content item is identified and, based on the input and the metadata, a segment to skip is identified. The segment to skip is skipped, and the content item is generated for output at a second time.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for performing an action related to an identifier for a recommended media asset presented to a user, based on a detected emotional indicator of the user. The identifier for the initial recommended media asset is generated for presentation to the user, and one or more images of the user are captured while generating for presentation the identifier for the initial recommended media asset to the user. An emotional indicator of the user is detected based on the one or more captured images, and an action related to the identifier for the initial recommended media asset is performed based on the detected emotional indicator.

Abstract: A method for assessing viewer interest in content and advertisements may include receiving an indication regarding a content playback mode change (e.g., a change from a skip or fast-forward mode to a pause or rewind mode) occurring during playing of a media content segment such as a television program or movie. The method then proceeds to associate the playback mode change with a sub-segment of the television program, such as an advertisement or commercial, and a level of interest of a user in the advertisement or commercial is determined based on the associated content playback mode change. An item, such as an advertisement or promotional offer can be selected to be presented to the user based on the determined level of interest of the user in the advertisement or commercial. Systems for assessing viewer interest in content and advertisements include devices and components configured to perform or enable such methods.

Abstract: Updating object subscriptions based on trigger events is described. An indication of a trigger event, associated with an object, can be received from a client of a user. The object can be associated with current object data that is stored in a storage area of a subscription management system. The storage area can maintain the current object data for at least the object and a subscription list for client(s), wherein the subscription list for each of the client(s) comprises object identifiers corresponding to subscribed objects for each of the client(s). Based at least partly on receiving the indication of the trigger event and determining that the trigger event is associated with a modification to a subscription, the subscription list can be updated to generate an updated subscription list for the client and current object data for the subscribed objects identified within the updated subscription list can be provided thereto.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to identify media based on watermarks across different audio streams and/or different watermarking techniques are disclosed. Example apparatus disclosed herein include a watermark detector to detect a first watermark embedded in a first audio stream, the first watermark including a first source identifier and a first timing identifier, and detect a second watermark embedded in a second audio stream, the second watermark including a second source identifier and a second timing identifier. The disclosed example apparatus also include a controller to associate the first and second watermarks with a media detection event when both (1) the first and second source identifiers match and (2) the first and second timing identifiers are chronologically congruent. The disclosed example apparatus further include a transmitter to transmit the media detection event to a data collection facility.

The primary node determines potential intermodulation interference between the primary frequency and the frequencies for the candidate set. The primary node selects a qualifying set from the candidate set based on the potential intermodulation interference. The primary node determines communication performance for the qualifying set and selects a serving set from the qualifying set based on the communication performance. The primary node wirelessly transfers signaling to the UE identifying the serving set and transfers signaling to the serving set identifying the UE. The serving set of secondary access nodes wirelessly transfer user data to the UE over their frequencies responsive to the signaling.

An embodiment operates by a client device—(i) receiving an input for designing the channel's interface; (ii) determining an input event based on the input; (iii) creating a command based on the input event; and (iv) routing the command to a host device so that the host device determines a feature of the channel therefrom. Another embodiment operates by a host device—(i) receiving a command for a design for the channel's interface from a client device, the command may comprise a unique identifier and based on user input provided on the client device; (ii) identifying the command based on the command's unique identifier; (iii) determining a response based on the command; (iv) determining a feature of the channel based on the response; and (v) incorporating the feature into the interface of the channel.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing access to media content by connecting, to a public device, a private device that has installed a mirror-capable application associated with the media content. A media guidance application may receive a communication from a private device, with a private interface application and a public interface application, wherein the communication is a request to access content using the public device. In response, the media guidance application may request, at the public device, the public interface application from the private device. The private device may thus transmit the public interface application with user authorization information to the public device. The private interface application may be configured to mirror the graphical user interface of the public interface application. Accordingly, the user may be able to access content via the public device and mirror the content on the private device, when the private device is within a predetermined proximity to the public device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing access to media content by connecting, to a public device, a private device that does not have an installed application associated with the media content. A media guidance application may receive a communication from a private device requesting to access content using the public device. In response, the media guidance application may retrieve, at the public device, a public interface application and private interface application from a content provider of the content. The private interface application, which may be configured to control a graphical user interface of the public interface application, may then be transmitted to the private device. Accordingly, the user may be able to access content via the public device when the private device is within a predetermined proximity to the public device.

The sensor or input device generates signals based on detection of movement of the HMD, movement of an eyeball of a user, user voice communication, or user contact with the input device. The selection module, based on the signals: selects the sports content and a viewing option; and generates a selection signal. The display module displays the sports content in the VR environment based on the selection signal.

Abstract: The described technology is directed towards sending metadata related to a video to a client device, such as events that describe a portion of that video, such as in a hidden stream. In one or more implementations, the enhanced metadata comprises nodes used to build part of a relationship graph. This allows interested clients to switch between the feature playback and interacting with the metadata. Further, searches through the enhanced metadata may be performed to find matching video portions, and summaries or highlights of one or more videos may be assembled by accessing information in the enhanced metadata.

Abstract: During a conversation the participants of the conversation may use catchphrases that are associated with particular characters, media assets, or media personalities. The catchphrases may be associated with information such as the media asset where the catchphrase was originally spoken, the speaker, and keywords relating to the media asset. Based on this associated information and the participant's use of the catchphrase, the system may provide a media asset recommendation to the participant for a media asset that does not include the catchphrase.

The processor can detect a region-of-interest (ROI) of an output image associated with a media presentation description (MPD) provided by the streaming server and transmit the ROI information to the streaming server. The processor can also receive image segments of a first resolution corresponding to the ROI information and a full image of a second resolution from the streaming server. The processor can also synthesize the image segments of the first resolution and the full image of the second resolution to output a synthesized reconstruction image through the display.

In response to receiving user input that selects the single-selection option, the definition of the multichannel viewing event is accessed. One or more tuners of the television receiver may be tuned based on the television channels defined in the definition of the multichannel viewing event. A quad video stream that includes live feeds of four television channels may then be output to a display device for simultaneous presentation.

Abstract: Described herein is an example apparatus for displaying information associated with content while streaming the content to a display device. The apparatus includes a memory having a database stored therein. The database stores metadata relating to the content. The metadata includes a trick mode index, trick mode images and a database of information associated with segments of the content. The apparatus also includes a processor communicatively coupled to the memory. In operation, in some embodiments, the processor streams the content for display on the display device. The processor implements a trick mode operation upon receiving an appropriate user request. During implementation of the trick mode operation, the processor receives command input requesting information associated with the content.

The media acquisition engine further comprises a media control engine that directs, in accordance with the selection, a physical device to image a physical object and produce a media item based on the image of the physical object, the physical device being coupled to a cloud client. The media acquisition engine also comprises a media reception engine that receives the media item from the physical device, and a translation engine that encodes the media item into a data structure compatible with the cloud application imaging service. The interface engine is configured to transfer the media item to the plug-in.

Abstract: In a radio communication, a UE terminal uses a CSI-RS as a reference signal for point selection only in the case of a scenario 4, and uses a CRS as a reference signal for point selection in the cases of scenarios 1 to 3 other than the scenario 4. Through RRC signaling, an eNodeB notifies the UE terminal of the fact that the measurement of a specific cell ID will be performed using a CSI-RS, that is, a cell ID using a CSI-RS as a reference signal for point selection. The operations suppress overhead of reference signals and improve a point selection update frequency.

Abstract: A media guidance application is provided by which users can view program listings associated with programming that the user may access using other user equipment devices. The media guidance application, implemented on, for example, a remote system, may determine through communications with television equipment whether or not the television equipment is authorized to provide a particular package of television programming to be viewed by the user. For example, an online program guide application may determine whether or not television equipment allows a user to view particular channels and, based on that determination, proceed to determine what packages of programming the user subscribes to. A customized program guide may then be displayed based on what programming the user subscribes to on various systems.

Then locations of one or more software products matching the one or more capabilities needed by the device may be received from the yellow pages agent. One of the one or more software products to install may be selected based on automatically evaluated criteria. Then the selected software product may be downloaded using its received location, and the selected software product may be installed on the device.
