Abstract: Transmedia scheduling systems and methods are described in which a user interface is generated via a channel engine that includes first and second channels. The channels are based on one or more channel templates stored in a channel database, and are preferably populated with concurrent transmedia stories. Each of the transmedia stories can be based on at least one transmedia object stored in a transmedia database and may be dynamically generated.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a streaming server that outputs chunk data obtained by dividing picture data into chunks as streaming data, comprises a chunk length determination unit, and a data generation unit. The chunk length determination unit that calculates a chunk length which is a time length of the chunk, and the data generation unit that generates the chunk data by dividing the picture data into the chunks in accordance with the chunk length.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for recommending content based on a mood score associated with a user profile. The system accesses the viewing history of the user profile to determine media assets consumed and the mood score associated with each of the consumed media assets of the plurality of media assets. A cumulative mood score is calculated based at least in part to determine if the total score is below a mood threshold. Based on the cumulative mood score being lower than the mood threshold, the system generates for presentation, on the consumer device, one or more media assets with a positive mood score.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to techniques for capturing and displaying partial motion in VAR scenes. VAR scenes can include a plurality of images combined and oriented over any suitable geometry. Although VAR scenes may provide an immersive view of a static scene, current systems do not generally support VAR scenes that include dynamic content (e.g., content that varies over time). Embodiments of the present invention can capture, generate, and/or share VAR scenes. This immersive, yet static, view of the VAR scene lacks dynamic content (e.g., content which varies over time). Embodiments of the present invention can efficiently add dynamic content to the VAR scene, allowing VAR scenes including dynamic content to be uploaded, shared, or otherwise transmitted without prohibitive resource requirements. Dynamic content can be captured by device and combined with a preexisting or simultaneously captured VAR scene, and the dynamic content may be played back upon selection.

Abstract: Interference-based augmented reality hosting platforms are presented. Hosting platforms can include networking nodes capable of analyzing a digital representation of scene to derive interference among elements of the scene. The hosting platform utilizes the interference to adjust the presence of augmented reality objects within an augmented reality experience. Elements of a scene can constructively interfere, enhancing presence of augmented reality objects; or destructively interfere, suppressing presence of augmented reality objects.

Abstract: Embodiments detect updates to digital video broadcast (DVB) service information (SI), and forcing off-schedule updates to local meta-programming data (MPD) of a customer premises appliance in response to the update, where appropriate. For example, embodiments detect an SI update for at least one DVB content service being provided via a DVB network and determine whether a stream update descriptor in the SI is asserted. Detected assertion triggers an automatic off-schedule MPD update, including assigning a tuner to obtain updated provider MPD via an MPD service, and rebuilding local MPD based on the updated provider MPD. The local MPD is usable by the customer premises appliance to populate a meta-programming user interface (e.g., an electronic program guide) by which to display descriptive information about at least some of the plurality of DVB content services.

Abstract: Video containers are expanded to encapsulate auxiliary data and metadata linking video content with relevant portions of auxiliary data for download during playback of particular video content. Auxiliary data is parsed into areas of interest and associated with the video content including the same areas of interest. During playback a viewer is provided access to relevant portions of the auxiliary data according to the encapsulated metadata describing the relevant portions.

Generating the one or more further encoded enhancement streams comprises applying a transform (348) to each of a series of blocks. For instance, computing device(s) may store sensor data in first data files included within a first data buffer of a first memory, which may include a cache memory. After storing the data, the computing device(s) may determine that the sensor data represents an event. Abstract: Example methods and apparatus to verify presentation of media content are disclosed. A disclosed example apparatus for generating media presentation information includes a comparator to periodically output a value indicative of whether media selected via a set-top box is presented at a media presentation location by comparing a first audio signal associated with the media to ambient audio received in the media presentation location via an audio system associated with a media presentation device. The example apparatus also includes a privacy protector to facilitate operation of the comparator by periodically preventing the comparator from receiving of the ambient audio. The example apparatus also includes a metering module to record presentation of the media based on the output.

Abstract: A playback device may be communicatively connected to a network device at a demonstration location. After connecting to the network device, the playback device may receive from the network device, a message indicating media content for playback by the playback device. In response to receiving the message, the playback device may play the media content, where playing the media content comprises modifying a default configuration of a demonstration mode. After receiving the message, the playback device may be disconnected from the network device. After disconnecting from the network device, the playback device may return to the default configuration of the demonstration mode.

Abstract: In accordance with one or more preferred implementations, an overlay network in the form of a dispersive virtual network is implemented utilizing data deflects to implement and facilitate routing in a data plane and call processing deflects to implement and facilitate routing in a control plane. Various nodes in the dispersive virtual network, such as end devices running dispersive virtual networking client software, establish communication channels to these deflects running dispersive virtual networking protocols transported by user datagram protocol (UDP) frames, transmission control protocol (TCP) streams, and hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) streams.

Abstract: A system for communicating wireless signals over a cable network includes a wireless over cable (WoC) amplifier configured to communicate wireless frequency band signals with a modem. The system may also include a WoC splitter configured to communicate the wireless frequency band signals with the WoC amplifier directly or via one or more cables, and a WoC adapter configured to receive the wireless frequency band signals from the WoC splitter via one or more cables, and transmit the wireless frequency band signals wirelessly to one or more wireless communication devices.

Abstract: For wideband operation in the unlicensed spectrum, a network operator may allocate a channel having multiple sub-bands to user equipment. The presently disclosed embodiments enable the user equipment to select one of multiple noncontiguous sub-bands and/or blocks of contiguous sub-bands that are available in the channel, and transmit data over the selected one of the noncontiguous available sub-bands and/or blocks of contiguous available sub-bands. The user equipment may select the one of the noncontiguous available sub-bands and/or blocks of contiguous available sub-bands of the channel based on the largest block of contiguous available sub-bands, the largest grant size, the best signal quality, the greatest estimated throughput, and/or the highest priority level. Moreover, in cases where data is transmitted using contiguous available sub-bands, guard bands disposed in between the contiguous available sub-bands may also be used to transmit data.

Abstract: A first computing device may receive an indication of user input that is at least a part of a conversation between a user and a first assistant executing at the first computing device. The first assistant and/or an assistant executing at a digital assistant system may determine whether to handoff the conversation from the first assistant executing at the first computing device to a second assistant executing at a second computing device. In response to determining to handoff the conversation to the second assistant executing at the second computing device, the first assistant and/or the assistant executing at the digital assistant system may send to the second computing device a request to handoff the conversation which includes at least an indication of the conversation.

Abstract: A radio access network intelligent controller (RIC) can comprise a physical resource block (PRB) scheduler that can facilitate the streaming of videos. When a user equipment (UE) requests a video, the PRB scheduler can take into account channel quality data associated with the connection between the UE and a distributed unit of a base station. The PRB scheduler can also receive video stream rate information from a video server. Based on the video stream rate information and the channel quality data, the PRB scheduler can make a decision regarding what types of videos to facilitate streaming to the UE.

Abstract: A communication device, method and computer program product enable multiple transceiver communication by antennas within a configurable housing assembly. First, second, and third antennas are separate in an open position and are proximate and aligned in a closed position. A first radio frequency (RF) transceiver communicates via the first antenna and a second RF transceiver that communicates via one of the second and third antennas via the first antenna switch. A controller is communicatively coupled to a first antenna switch and a housing sensor. In response to determining that the housing assembly is in at least partially open position, the controller configures the first antenna switch to connect a second RF transceiver to a second antenna. In response to determining that the housing assembly is in the closed position, the controller configures the first antenna switch to connect the second RF transceiver to the third antenna.

Abstract: Technologies are disclosed herein for selecting one or more content instances of a plurality of content instances for display on a head unit of a vehicle. The content instances correspond to a location of a vehicle and are received by the head unit. The head unit obtains vehicle specific information from memory of the head unit. Based on the vehicle specific information, the head unit selects the one or more content instances using a set of criteria for determining which, if any, content instances to display. Selection of the one or more content instances using the set of criteria may involve consideration of information associated with individual instances of the plurality of content instances. The selected one or more content instances are displayed on a display of the head unit.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for authenticating a user to access electronic content include use of a processor configured to identify a technical condition for the content, access distributor logic providing a first release of the technical condition, receive a request from a subscriber to transfer the first release to an identified user, determine whether to approve or deny the request, and when approved, provide a device associated with the identified user with an authentication that permits the identified user to activate the first release and access the electronic content, and a database that stores the technical condition.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for enhancing communications mobility in an enterprise using a distributed communication controller. The distributed communication controller identifies a user device, verifies the device and delivers enterprise communication services to the user via the user device without requiring the execution of an enterprise communication application by the wearable device. When the user device is a wearable device, a wireless message is sent from the wearable device in physical proximity to the distributed communication controller that contains identification information. Based on the identification information, user information associated with the user of the user device is retrieved and then used to determine whether enterprise communication services are available for the user.

Abstract: One aspect of the invention is a method of providing video to attendees of a live concert. Video of different views of the live concert is captured. A plurality of video streams are provided to attendees of the live concert while the live concert is occurring. The plurality of digital video streams enable an attendee of the live concert to select which of the plurality of digital video streams to view using a portable digital device associated with that attendee such that the attendee may choose from among the different views of the live concert.

A base station may provision different subsets of resources from a set of resources for multicast feedback message transmission based on channel metric(s) of a user equipment (UE). The set of resources may include a plurality of subsets of resources, with each subset of resources being associated with a corresponding channel metric or range of channel metrics associated with each UE receiving the multicast transmission. In this way, browsing time for a user on a device with a limited form factor is reduced and network bandwidth is conserved by not surfacing content that the user ultimately will not view.
